@BruceCM On a side note: even those shish kebabs on a pita bread you mentioned, are prepared on a skewer. At least: in the right restaurant, so regardless of the skewer not being present anymore once the plate arrives on your table, it has still been skewered and prepared as such.
Congratulations, @ThanosReXXX .... She apparently did release a couple more albums & a few of her other songs did chart but that's by far her biggest hit
@BruceCM - Yeah, he’s still playing. He probably starts and finishes every show with American Pie. He’s good, I don’t want to come across like it’s an insult to have a massively popular song. It’s certainly going to overshadow everything else in his library. If I think of Don McClean hit songs outside of AP, it’s Vincent and a cover or two, including one he could never hope to top in Crying. I had to google Tasmin, and I can’t say I remember her. I thought Sleeping Satellite sounded familiar, but Inwatched some of the video and it doesn’t ring a bell. What’s her big hit?
@BruceCM Now I've got one for you: I obviously can't check or prevent someone from searching on Google, but I'm going to trust in your fair play spirit. I'll turn the question around, though, and add another twist, because I'm NOT going to mention the artist, nor am I going to mention the name of the song.
So, here's the question: which one hit wonder has made the song that is now infamous in many countries for having the worst lyrics in history?
I'll give you one hint, and another one later on, if you're still stuck.
Hint #1: the artist is female.
Good luck.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@bimmy-lee Yeah, you're becoming slow in your "not even all that old compared to me" age...
You haven't even reacted to my burned feet story or importing beer question...
That's a bit obscure, since I hardly keep up with songs that are known for BAD lyrics, @ThanosReXXX ..... Sleeping Satellite is her biggest hit, by a long way, @bimmy-lee If you didn't happen to be listening to the pop music stations at the time or anything, though, it was probably easily missed & it probably did better in some places than others
@ThanosReXXX - I hear you, but don’t be sad for Don. He has a song that would be on a double lp set titled “Greatest Hits in the History of Humanity”. He somehow dug right to the tap root of an entire generation and explained it in song. He’s a musical legend for that. He’s never going to be in the pantheon of The Beatles or The Stones, but he’ll be known forever by people interested in music.
@BruceCM Well, my good man, there's BAD songs/lyrics, and then there is WORST lyrics. I won't go so far as to say that it's officially recognized as such, but MANY people seem to agree on it.
Okay, so because of it still being a bit vague to you, I'll add not one, but two more hints:
hint #2: the song is from the 90s.
hint #3: the song is about life.
But that's all you're gonna get, otherwise I might just as well give you the answer right now...
@bimmy-lee True enough, although what the song and the lyrics mean exactly, will probably always be a mystery, much like with Hotel California.
Might as well, @ThanosReXXX ..... Even when I do look on Google, it doesn't come up with much & I have to cut down the question to get any results It'll probably be some song I missed or never knew who wrote it, since that often isn't obvious

@BruceCM - That song seems very of it’s time in the early 90s, but I kinda liked it, and she has a nice voice.
@ThanosReXXX - Let me take a guess, the song is I Touch Myself, but I can’t remember the artist and I’m not allowed to google. I believe American Pie is about generation’s coming of age and loss of innocence anchored around the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper (the day the music died). Basically, it’s about bubble gum pop and surf rock kids growing up to become hippies. That’s a good question about the beer. I think you’d be fine to carry on anything sealed that you purchase at the Amsterdam airport, but I’m not sure what would happen if you tried to check some brews you picked up on the way because you really are importing at that point (meaning simply you didn’t pay off customs with a tax to make it okay).
Well, I really don't know how that'd be the WORST lyrics, @ThanosReXXX .... But then I didn't agree with lots of the ones they were listing as such Then, she had some other hits & several successful albums, so hardly the 'one hit wonder' @bimmy-lee
