@Tyranexx Well, like I said: no rush. That goes for the music as well as the graffiti links. There's plenty of stuff to browse through there, so I wouldn't even expect you to just digest all of that in one evening or so.

And likewise: glad I'm not the only one who's suffering from an Animal Crossing overkill. Then again: the same was probably happening back in the BotW days, and with Pokémon Sw/Sh and just about any other highly popular game, but I might have pushed those happenings from my mind, for whatever reason...

On a side note: but I will get the game some time near the end of the month, and my island will be glorious. That is, either stunning, or gloriously bad...

@ogo79 Sorry, man. Didn't ling... erm, I mean ring a bell. Now you made me look it up, and now you've wasted my time. Thanks ever so f-ing much...

I do have to mention that I definitely don't mind the odd Scottish redhead, though. Albeit not a freak like that one...

I'm so mad at myself right now. I knew I had to go into work today, I'm perpetually thirsty, so I set my water bottle out last night right on the counter where it is physically impossible not to see it if I want to leave my apartment.

And I still freaking forgot it. DX

My kids were playing SFII yesterday and entered the rare fourth round of a best of three match after splitting the first two and ending round three with a double KO. Watching young kids play fighting games is incredibly trying. There can be whole rounds of just spamming weak kicks from opposite sides of the screen while they wait for the other person to fall into their “trap”. In those moments, it feels like E. Honda is inside my skull giving my brain the thousand hand slap.

@ThanosReXXX - I noticed it had a bit of a Planeteer theme to it, cleaning up trash and litter. My kids will love it, they’re hyper aware of that kind of thing. I’ve told them that litter comes from careless hillbillies, so when they see it; they let me know that hillbillies have been in the area. I have a litter pick up stick, and we sometime gather up a bucket full of trash from the park and throw it away. They’ll love cleaning up and “saving” and island.

@Tyranexx - Lighting is critical while gaming. I like some, but not too much. I don’t like to sit in the dark unless I’m watching a movie, but I also don’t want a fully lit room. I have it just right in the spots where I play my Switch.

@Heavyarms55 - I finally joined you in the “buttons that aren’t actual, physical buttons” future. There’s a fan I’ve been buying for years at Costco in an attempt to have one in every room that needs one (a Vornado), and they just revised the model to have touch buttons. Everything else about the revision is an improvement, but the touch controls are awful. I accidentally turn it on every time I pick it up, and I can’t use it in the dark because there’s no physical buttons to feel around for. It also leaves me with an inexplicable feeling that they’re definitely going to break prematurely or stop working properly.

@bimmy-lee Haha, I'm totally seeing that picture you laid out for us: daddy bimmy sitting uncomfortably on the tip of his chair, elbows on his knees, head in hands, peeking through his fingers to see when the hurting will FINALLY stop...

Island Saver definitely sounds like a perfect match for your kids' taste, then. I'll be anxiously awaiting the first reviews.

As for lighting: definitely agreed that it matters when gaming or watching movies, but in my mind, that's pretty much a given. A fully lit cinema isn't much fun after all...
(and has zero atmosphere to it)

All kidding aside, though: personally, I really like/prefer directional lighting, which in my case is spotlights and a standing lamp with a bowl/hood that's oriented upwards, lit by a halogen light. And all my spotlight bulbs are warm, dark yellow and/or orangey light, so no bright white lights except for in my kitchen and bathroom.

Sometimes, in the summer time, when it gets a bit darker, I also like to light candles and waxine cups all around my living room, which gives off more than enough light to get close to the cinema vibe, when watching TV or a movie. I don't really use it for gaming, though.

@Anti-Matter I don't think we should bother little children's minds with weird stuff like cross-dressing men and all that, even if it's supposed to be for comedy only. They'll learn soon enough about this crazy world we live in, but better to let them do that in their own tempo, so no need to rush that process with these kind of things.

Keeping an appointment in a few, then I'll be executing a Walmart run after avoiding the place for over two months. I tried to arrange shipping all the things I need to my house, but they won't deliver some of the items. Looks like I'll need to break out the tricked-up shopping cart rig and PVC jousting rod.

@ThanosReXXX I did manage to browse through some of the urban/graffiti art yesterday evening for a little while. Definitely some great pieces there! My favorite one was a large piece (In Cairo I think) that incorporates multiple buildings.

The BotW oversaturation likewise drove me crazy for awhile, though that was partially out of fear of spoilers. Whereas with Animal Crossing, most of the "cool" stuff has been from sheer creativity and hacks. Not sure when or if I'll be picking up the latter. I'm sure I'd enjoy it, but when one is late to the Switch party and has so many other games they want to play....

@bimmy-lee I learned long ago that too little light was hard on the eyes for very long periods of time. Whereas too much light has the same effect. I've found a happy balance for my living room; I keep one lamp on that's nearby while I happily game away.

@Tyranexx Well, I'm only slightly earlier with getting a Switch than you, so I'm also late to the party as such, but I'm still getting it regardless. This is one of these games that I'll buy without thinking about any backlog, simply because it's a must-own title for me, because it BELONGS to the console. I have several of these kinds of titles for each and every one of my consoles and handhelds.

To turn it into an analogy, so it'll perhaps make a bit more sense, if it doesn't make sense to you already: to me, not buying certain games for certain systems, is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower, or something like that. Got an Xbox? Then I must have Halo, Forza, Gears of War and any other kind of exclusive title. Got a Switch? Then I'll need Mario titles, Zelda and so on. And definitely also Animal Crossing. I wouldn't want to be missing out or holding myself back just because I may not be able to play it straight away.

I would REALLY regret not being able to get it anymore, somewhere down the line, because I decided not to buy it (yet).

Concerning the graffiti: I'll have to take a peek myself then, because I haven't really done much of that yet. I only looked them up for you, but haven't browsed through the pages myself.

@ThanosReXXX On the graffiti: I had some problems browsing graffiti.com oddly enough - it kept throwing proxy errors - but many of the other sites functioned without issue. Figured I'd warn you.

On Animal Crossing: I'll likely end up getting it eventually, it's more of a budgeting + backlog thing. The good news is I've picked up most of the Switch retail games that I want that came out before mid-2019. The problem now is that there were so many releases in the back half of last year that I still want. XD That's not to say that I always pick things up in release order, but evergreen titles take slight priority since there's a concern the less popular titles will permanently sneak off of the shelves.

Also, I don't think I'm QUITE ready to get sucked down the AC Tom Nook debt hole just yet.

I do understand your console analogy and think it makes sense; why wouldn't anyone want console exclusives, at least the ones that interest them? Heck, exclusives are a big part in what dictates what consoles I buy and prioritize. If I had time for another console, I'd certainly pick up a PS4 for some of its wonderful exclusives. I don't go for ALL exclusives though - just the ones that genuinely interest me.

@Tyranexx I was going to say in case my avatar gave it away, graffiti has been a big part of my life since the 80s - I went through the whole wild phase in my teens of painting trains and living the life, but these days I mainly paint big walls with my friends, usually spending all day on something, no kiddie scribbles here...

Through it though it has led to me having friends around the world I can link up with and visit on my travels - in fact I was due to go to LA on a painting holiday just before lockdown kicked in (and had Toronto in the works too), fortunately my flight got refunded, but the paint we ordered is still sitting there, and my friend there is going to reimburse me...as soon as this calms down I'll be looking at flights.

@bimmy-lee How good is that SF collection? Did you get pads to go with it, I can't remember if you said you did or not...I was a bit taken aback by the difficulty of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo - I remember when it came out in the arcades it being rock hard, but I put that down to the arcades just trying to cream the punters...

Anyone else getting down with Wild Guns? It’s been years since I played it so the controls take some getting used to, but it’s a real quality shooter.

@Tyranexx I'll make a mental note of that problematic site. Do you use Chrome or Firefox? I use the latter. Don't know if that'll make a whole lot of difference, but you might never know.

As for Animal Crossing: no one is EVER ready to get sucked down a Tom Nook debt hole. Just ask @bimmy-lee or @HobbitGamer...

@ogo79 Hm... that kind of does explain why you take so long to answer sometimes: us uber-beings measure time completely differently from mere mortals, after all...

@Anti-Matter - Dude, that’s an awesome clip. I’ve never seen City Hunter and had no clue this fight scene exists. Just added the full movie to my Netflix DVD queue. My kids loved it. It had Dhalsim and Chun Li, so their favorites are covered, and my daughter was especially happy that Chun Li got the victory.

@ThanosReXXX - I try not to let my frustration show, but it does happen from time to time. Usually I just do a couple solo rounds at the end to take the aggression out and show them a character’s special moves. Totally agree with you on the lighting. I don’t have overhead lighting on when I’m relaxing. It’s all lamps and ancillary lighting, like my lava and salt lamps. I replaced every bulb in my home a few years ago with the same color and brand of led. I also do a warm light everywhere except the bathrooms and kitchen. It’s probably psychotic, but I like having the same light in every room.

@Tyranexx - I’ve often wondered if secretly playing a game boy in bed three inches from my face in an otherwise dark room had a negative impact in my eyesight. I can remember turning it off, closing my eyes, and falling asleep to a giant green blur floating on the inside of my eyelids, sometimes with vague Tetris shapes falling through it.

@WiltonRoots - I’ve enjoyed SF since SFII hit the arcades, but I’ve never been a mega fan or particularly good at it; and I find this collection great. I love having the arcade versions of SFII, and the Alpha series is one I now like a lot, but didn’t play very much in the arcades. The Super game is very weird to me. I had never played it, and it seems like a big step back from the final entry in the SFII series. I only played it solo a few times to try the new characters and I got my face kicked off. I got the collection on sale at half off, and it’s an easy recommendation at that price to just about anyone. If you’re a fan, full price is easily justifiable with the amount of games available and a very cool gallery of all the characters and their artistic evolutions over the years.

I only have Joy Con, and I do fine with them. I’m one of the weirdos who thinks directional buttons are fine, and I’m not really precise enough in SF to know if I didn’t do a hadouken because I was sloppy or the controller held me back. I grew up playing SFII on the MD/Genesis, and I liked that rolling Sega dpad more than the arcade stick.

@NotTelevision - Ooh, did the NES and SNES apps update??? I cannot wait to give these games a try. It’s the best update yet in my opinion, pity it’s been so long.
