@ThanosReXXX Not to our knowledge, we've not been televised. I wish I was as cool as Jackson Galaxy haha.

@bimmy-lee I typically try to read right before bedtime if I can't fit it in at any other time of the day, but the negative there is that I sometimes fall asleep. I've been making somewhat steady progress on my booklog, but I admittedly skip reading for a couple of days sometimes.

@ThanosReXXX Not to mention how some soaps re-manufacture certain drama just for the sake of it. My parents both watch (and, until the VCR finally gave out, taped) The Bold and the Beautiful. Heck, I used to watch it for a little while when I was in high school, at least until I figured out that they were rehashing old plotlines just for the sake of it. Then you'd get to where everything was hunky-dory, then something ELSE would pop up....I had enough by that point lol.

Man...Definitely some roasting of the new Charmed series in those links lol. It appears as though the original series handled most if not all of those topics that the new shows broadcasts about in a more reasonable, natural way. As one article put it, it's not a problem by any means that such issues are brought up to begin with, it's how the delivery is handled. It's like they're trying way too hard.

On Grimm: It technically wasn't a standalone site; it was an offshoot of NBC's main site that had a couple of navigable areas (notably the spice shop and Aunt Marie's trailer) where you could discover things in a point & click style. Besides the book with some of the Wesen entries that were recreated from the show, you could also access the weapon cabinet and various areas of the spice shop.

@ThanosReXXX - I saw earlier in the day yesterday that you recommended Island Saver as a freebie for anyone with kids. Finally got a chance to check out the new releases and sales late last night and grabbed it. We’ll be sure to check it out soon, though they’re both obsessed with the SF collection and AC right now; so competition for their limited gaming time is fierce. I’ve been using the bell economy in AC as a monetary learning tool, but it hasn’t sunk in much for them. I have to earn at least 20,000 bells a night so that their daily shopping addictions can be satiated without putting a dent in our savings.

@Tyranexx - Sudden involuntary sleepiness is the exact reason I struggle to read. I can’t do it in the evenings anymore, or I’ll just be asleep within 20 minutes. I even started occasionally falling asleep while gaming about five years ago. 10 year old me is appalled by this.

@HobbitGamer - My compuper inn’t fancy enough to have all them cheesemints. Wish it did though because I’d get a chessvents for falling asleep watching trailers in the eShop.

@HobbitGamer Ah, okay. Then it was just a marvelous coincidence: the other day, I was watching an episode of "Dr. Jeff, Rocky Mountain Vet" on Animal Planet, and one of the customers in that episode was a guy about your age, and he had a black cat named Jack, so of course, I immediately wondered...

As for the achievements thing: I almost choked on my drink yesterday evening, when I saw that Ninfan had jumped in there with one of his weird, inane questions. It was so funny in that instance, and the PERFECT solution to the entire thread. Although sadly, it's still going on...

@Tyranexx Yeah, I'd say that's exactly it: they're trying too hard (edit: with several things, hence also my own listing of all the things they're doing too much, in the previous comment). Like the whole feminist thing. The original Charmed was already about strong, independent women, but they didn't need to shout about it, because it was already evident, albeit in a far more subtle way. Which, on a side note, also makes strong-willed men like me far more accepting of it...

I'm not going to comment on soaps anymore, otherwise I'd have to confess a guilty pleasure...
It's something that, much like you, I've taken with me from always having them force-fed to me by my parents, while having the after dinner coffee, and that specific one you mentioned is also VERY popular over here.

But for me, a lot of these shows are also perfect for some, as I like to call it, "accompanying background noise", to at least make it seem like I'm not alone in my apartment, so I often have something nondescript on, if I'm primarily focused on web browsing or PC gaming.

@bimmy-lee Well, now that you've grabbed it, there's no rush, then. I was just wondering how the game would be judged by actual kids, instead of just by me or @WoomyNNYes. From my own time with it so far, I may think that it's great for kids, but only actual kids would obviously be the right judge for that.

Yep, I finally just gave up on that idiot and added him to my ignore list. For some reason the mods don't think it's too bad to close or even give that fool a warning. Several times he tried to bait me into an argument but whatever. One of the reasons I don't post here as much as I use to is because of idiots like him.

Might be just me being dense as usual, but I don’t really see anything majorly provocative on their posts. Nothing ban worthy at least. I’ll wait and see.

If other mods want to intervene sooner, that’s fine too.

@Eel Well, he has eventually mellowed out quite a bit, although he was acting pretty stubborn and/or smart-assy in my opinion, and throughout, he remained quite abrasive to Tasuki, so I do agree with him on his annoyance about that.

On a completely unrelated side note: that free Island Savers game might also be something that you might enjoy. It's in the eShop right now.

It may actually be for kids, but it's a rather relaxing experience, and I've had some fun with it so far. In that respect, it's almost kind of like Animal Crossing: doing menial tasks, getting rewards for it, and building, or in this case rather: rebuilding (parts of) your island. Oh, and saving animals...

Hm I’m seeing it’s free to download, that makes me a bit wary of it.

The pictures kinda remind me of viva piñata a little bit more than animal crossing.

Edit: apparently a bank published it?

@ThanosReXXX @bimmy-lee I cleard the first area of Island Saver. It's not bad. It's satisfying to play so far, kinda solid. But playing in handheld mode, the vibration when you jump feels harsh. Shame you cant turn it down. You can turn vibration off, though. I haven't tried it with a pro controller yet to see if it's harsh there. Gyro aiming would be nice.

Speaking of gyro aiming. For game like Island Saver, I'm kind of surprised adding gyro aiming doesn't seem to be a function devs cant copy & paste into a game. And, I'm gonna tag @Eel here, cause, haha Just because @eel doesn't tag people when he talks to them 🤪. That, and Eel, you're probably reading this anyway Hola eel, our querido amigo.( querido amigo = dear friend)

@Eel Yeah it's a game that teaches kids about money and fiances.

As for that Achievement Thread. Just got keep an eye on the guy. He likes to bait people and when they don't give him answer they like they insult people and resort to just being childish. I said my piece and let it go cause I was going nowhere with him but he kept trying to bait me. I don't think a ban necessary but perhaps a warning. As I he likes to create bait threads and trys to pass of his opinions as facts I am sure @ThanosReXXX will agree.

@Eel Yeah, I suppose you could also compare it to that. But it's not about gardening, it's basically about teaching children about earning and saving money, and how banks work. That's why it's free: it's an educational game, sponsored by the NatWest bank, and it doesn't have any kind of micro-transactions, if that's what you're talking about. I've played several hours already, and never came across anything.

Here's the article about it:
https://www.purexbox.com/news/2020/05/island_saver_is_a_free_...
And here is the official page of the game itself, on which you can learn more:
https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/island-saver/

And yes, it's a multi-console title.

@ThanosReXXX I didn't know it was on Switch I just thought it was on Xbox and PS4. This game to me seems like it would be perfect for handheld mode.

@WoomyNNYes Yeah, I've noticed that unnecessary rumble bit as well. Completely agree with you there, but ultimately, it's just a tiny annoyance.

@Tasuki Yeah, he isn't the best at making clear he's posing an opinion, making it seem like he's talking facts, but like I said, he has calmed down now. Sucks that he kept annoying you, but other than that, he's now behaving relatively normal. And he's new, so I'm willing to give him some space to improve and get to know us.

On a side note: I never use the ignore button. Far as I'm concerned, it's defeatism in its purest form. I don't walk away if I did nothing wrong, so I shouldn't have to put restrictions on myself. But obviously, if people want to use it, then that's their choice.

P.S.

Island Savers is a game that teaches kids about money and fiancees? I know that the latter do cost a LOT of money sometimes, but better not bother the kids with all these kinds of grown-up problems just yet...

@Tasuki Yup, it is perfect for handheld mode. It's also the only mode I've played it in so far.

And it's a multi-console and PC title, so whatever current platform you're on, it's available on all of them.

Here's an oldie. But one of my most prized photos. I don't know how I feel about keeping a photo of myself in such a public domain, so I might delete it in the near future.
