@ThanosReXXX Yep I posted my finally thoughts on the subject. At this point the fool will hang himself and get banned either that or figure out that his opinions aren't facts and get bored and leave the site. Either way it wont hurt my feelings. Still I am surprised Octane or Eel hasn't closed the thread yet and given him a warning.

@Tasuki Well, between me and @BruceCM, we called in those two mods, and seeing as neither of them has done anything yet, I guess the transgressions weren't bad enough after all. But you made the right decision regardless. I also don't understand why he reacts so extreme to you. I've finally managed to flip him around where I'm concerned, but the same definitely can't be said for you.
Oh, well. You can't win 'em all, you know...

@ThanosReXXX Yep and given his latest post to me he has it out for me. It's cool though I just report his antagonist posts towards me and I am sure he will be gone one way or another.

Four pages. You guys have got to stop advancing this thread so much when I'm away.
@ThanosReXXX I will indeed kill the new Charmed series with fire if it ever attempts to cross onto my property. It doesn't sound like it's as...deep, in a sense. From what I have seen of the original series, they touched on some pretty interesting issues there.
As for Grimm: Dang, I'd love a spin-off that featured Trubel; she was one of my favorite characters! Though I'd settle for more of the Grimm universe in general. The lore that went into the show was always of great interest to me; I spent quite a bit of time on the official website reading through pages on Wesen and other bits and bobs related to the series. I'd love if there was a written compendium of sorts that profiles all creatures (Wesen and otherwise) that have been featured in the series.
I am grateful that the show at least had an ending, even though it felt rushed; I just wish they'd had another episode or two to help round things out nicely. As you mentioned, some shows end abruptly or (like with My Name Is Earl, mentioned in one of the links) are left with an endless cliffhanger. Then there are those soap operas that rehash the same stuff over and over and OVER again, and never end....I think the one my parents followed has had half the cast married to each other at least once by this point lol.
@bimmy-lee I would love to see that entire sequence spectacularly animated. XD No clue how many tall tales I read as a kid....I was a bona fide bookworm. I still am in a sense, but I don't read nearly as much as I used to. My adult brain finds it harder to block things out and can only read in spurts. I first noticed the shortened attention span in late high school/early college.
@ThanosReXXX - See, you heard it from Joe Domestic himself: He’s an awful dogtator. He probably runs an underground puppy petting ring.
@Tyranexx - Loved a good tall tale when I was a kid. I too have struggled with making time to read and reading effectively for a while. I did burn out a bit towards the end of college as well, but I rebounded a few years later and settled in a nice routine for quite a while until getting sporadic again in my mid 30s. Hopefully I can get it back on track again.
@Tyranexx Haha, yeah. And the funny thing is, if you stop to think about it, that people will watch those like a hawk, while in real life, they'll protest and/or feel offended at just about anything that you'll see in these soaps. And what with all the family and relative "intertwining", you'd also have to wonder how the heck all of the resulting children are born completely normal, instead of with some kind of deficiency...
The thing about these reboots is that, in all honesty, I figure that the producers also are in a bit of a catch 22 here, because if they just rehash the old, it's not going to attract new viewers, and if they make it TOO different, they alienate the veteran viewers, who actually WILL want to have more of the same, so in some ways, they can never win. Although sometimes, it works, albeit mostly in movies, not so much in series. And Charmed 2.0 is just too much of everything: too self-aware, too bad-@ss, too much political correctness, obligatory same gender relationships, the aforementioned colored women, those women basically also being die-hard feminists, flimsy back story, social media, and the list goes on and on...
Here, have a gander, so you'll know it's not just salty, old "fan of the original series only" me:
About Grimm: I had those two pages in my browser's history, because I actually never saw the last 1,5 seasons, and it wasn't on TV here anymore, which is why I downloaded all of them, and that is also when I found out that the last season was considerably shorter. So, I looked up some information online, to find out the what's what, and that is when I found these articles.
I never even realized that there was an official website that went that far into the lore. I mean, obviously, I expect any self respecting show to have an official site and/or fan forum, but usually it's just bog standard, bare bones stuff, which is why I hardly ever bother with it.
The only series I ever did bother to devour every piece of information about, was The Witchblade, but that was also because I was already completely into it from having started on the comics, and the TV show obviously came much later.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@bimmy-lee Ha, I'll believe that if I see the pictures...
The truth of it is probably that he still plays that cute puppy game on the Wii, called The Dog Island, all under the guise of "the children" liking it so much. Or one-eyed Jack...
By the way, did you already give that free Island Savers game? I'm sure your kids will like it, and maybe even love it. I even like it, and I'm not even the target audience. That didn't stop me from playing it again today, though.
And even if I wanted to deny that, I couldn't, because @WoomyNNYes was spying on me playing it...

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
@bimmy-lee I typically try to read right before bedtime if I can't fit it in at any other time of the day, but the negative there is that I sometimes fall asleep. I've been making somewhat steady progress on my booklog, but I admittedly skip reading for a couple of days sometimes.
@ThanosReXXX Not to mention how some soaps re-manufacture certain drama just for the sake of it. My parents both watch (and, until the VCR finally gave out, taped) The Bold and the Beautiful. Heck, I used to watch it for a little while when I was in high school, at least until I figured out that they were rehashing old plotlines just for the sake of it. Then you'd get to where everything was hunky-dory, then something ELSE would pop up....I had enough by that point lol.
Man...Definitely some roasting of the new Charmed series in those links lol. It appears as though the original series handled most if not all of those topics that the new shows broadcasts about in a more reasonable, natural way. As one article put it, it's not a problem by any means that such issues are brought up to begin with, it's how the delivery is handled. It's like they're trying way too hard.
On Grimm: It technically wasn't a standalone site; it was an offshoot of NBC's main site that had a couple of navigable areas (notably the spice shop and Aunt Marie's trailer) where you could discover things in a point & click style. Besides the book with some of the Wesen entries that were recreated from the show, you could also access the weapon cabinet and various areas of the spice shop.
@ThanosReXXX - I saw earlier in the day yesterday that you recommended Island Saver as a freebie for anyone with kids. Finally got a chance to check out the new releases and sales late last night and grabbed it. We’ll be sure to check it out soon, though they’re both obsessed with the SF collection and AC right now; so competition for their limited gaming time is fierce. I’ve been using the bell economy in AC as a monetary learning tool, but it hasn’t sunk in much for them. I have to earn at least 20,000 bells a night so that their daily shopping addictions can be satiated without putting a dent in our savings.
@Tyranexx - Sudden involuntary sleepiness is the exact reason I struggle to read. I can’t do it in the evenings anymore, or I’ll just be asleep within 20 minutes. I even started occasionally falling asleep while gaming about five years ago. 10 year old me is appalled by this.
@HobbitGamer - My compuper inn’t fancy enough to have all them cheesemints. Wish it did though because I’d get a chessvents for falling asleep watching trailers in the eShop.
@HobbitGamer Ah, okay. Then it was just a marvelous coincidence: the other day, I was watching an episode of "Dr. Jeff, Rocky Mountain Vet" on Animal Planet, and one of the customers in that episode was a guy about your age, and he had a black cat named Jack, so of course, I immediately wondered...
As for the achievements thing: I almost choked on my drink yesterday evening, when I saw that Ninfan had jumped in there with one of his weird, inane questions. It was so funny in that instance, and the PERFECT solution to the entire thread. Although sadly, it's still going on...
@Tyranexx Yeah, I'd say that's exactly it: they're trying too hard (edit: with several things, hence also my own listing of all the things they're doing too much, in the previous comment). Like the whole feminist thing. The original Charmed was already about strong, independent women, but they didn't need to shout about it, because it was already evident, albeit in a far more subtle way. Which, on a side note, also makes strong-willed men like me far more accepting of it...
I'm not going to comment on soaps anymore, otherwise I'd have to confess a guilty pleasure...
It's something that, much like you, I've taken with me from always having them force-fed to me by my parents, while having the after dinner coffee, and that specific one you mentioned is also VERY popular over here.
But for me, a lot of these shows are also perfect for some, as I like to call it, "accompanying background noise", to at least make it seem like I'm not alone in my apartment, so I often have something nondescript on, if I'm primarily focused on web browsing or PC gaming.
@bimmy-lee Well, now that you've grabbed it, there's no rush, then. I was just wondering how the game would be judged by actual kids, instead of just by me or @WoomyNNYes. From my own time with it so far, I may think that it's great for kids, but only actual kids would obviously be the right judge for that.
The achivement topic is in my opinion toxic hè doenst want to listen.
Yep, I finally just gave up on that idiot and added him to my ignore list. For some reason the mods don't think it's too bad to close or even give that fool a warning. Several times he tried to bait me into an argument but whatever. One of the reasons I don't post here as much as I use to is because of idiots like him.

Might be just me being dense as usual, but I don’t really see anything majorly provocative on their posts. Nothing ban worthy at least. I’ll wait and see.
If other mods want to intervene sooner, that’s fine too.
@Eel Well, he has eventually mellowed out quite a bit, although he was acting pretty stubborn and/or smart-assy in my opinion, and throughout, he remained quite abrasive to Tasuki, so I do agree with him on his annoyance about that.
On a completely unrelated side note: that free Island Savers game might also be something that you might enjoy. It's in the eShop right now.
It may actually be for kids, but it's a rather relaxing experience, and I've had some fun with it so far. In that respect, it's almost kind of like Animal Crossing: doing menial tasks, getting rewards for it, and building, or in this case rather: rebuilding (parts of) your island. Oh, and saving animals...
