@ThanosReXXX - Thanks, it was a bit breezy out, so I took a bunch and hoped one was relatively in focus. My redbuds are too small to show up when I try to capture the entire tree. They blend in with everything else in the picture and look like floating pink flowers. Most of mine pushed up through ivy and vine, or they were clinging to life underneath; so they have a very twisted, zen garden look to them. There’s hopefully a week to 10 days left with the flowers.

The thing that really annoys me about the SNK comments is the lack of any sense of humor. It seems like three to five years ago, people were having the same debates, but in more entertaining ways to the reader, be it intentional or unintentional. If there was an article about a hot button topic and there were 250 comments, it was a guarantee that I could thumb through and at least 50 of those comments would make me laugh (intentionally or unintentionally). Now it’s just such self serious BS with people flinging around buzzwords from twitter as if they have any substance at all. So boring. So witless. It’s almost all crap from every side that isn’t worth the digital space it takes to store it.

@Tyranexx - I like how the flowers push right out of the trunk and branches and grow in little clusters. My dream is to have one growing inside, but it’s been impossible so far. I’m a little surprised you don’t have them, but that shows there’s some invisible line between us where the tree ecology shifts. Probably several times. There are friends between tree types. Groups of trees like to grow together. Most forests are dominated by two or three tall types and a fairly diverse but somewhat predictable undergrowth. It makes me curious about what’s growing in your area.

@bimmy-lee I don't know all my flowering tree breeds, but there are plenty of magnolias, redbuds, and various dogwoods scattered around that really show their colors this time of year. There are still a few flowers out here and there, but for the most part the early spring blooms are already gone.

@Tyranexx Yup, they wrapped that up preeeetttty quickly alright, thanks to the fickle American audience.

Man, my fellow countrymen have ruined/destroyed SO many of my favorite sci-fi and other kinds of series, which already ended after 1 or 2 seasons, that it's not even funny anymore. That's the main thing that always bothers me so much, that in the States, ridiculous numbers are needed to keep series and shows viable, whereas over here, 1 or 2 million viewers is seen as a MASSIVE success.

And the weird thing is that your bog standard hospital, detective and drama series will simply run forever, easily reaching well over 10 seasons, or series from which I think that they really aren't all that good or interesting, will also keep on running.

Another weird thing is, that if you search online, all these canceled series still have lots and lots of fans, who are all either demanding or petitioning for these series to return or continue, but it never happens.

One from the past that still hurts is Firefly. Brilliant sci-fi show, that should have gotten plenty of more seasons than just the single one they got.

Some recent offenders that I loved to watch: Preacher, The Gifted, The Passage. Three, two and only one season respectively. Completely ridiculous, because all of them were absolutely brilliant shows.

Or they make some kind of lousy reboot that makes no sense whatsoever, and only caters to the "now" or socially diverse crowd. (warning: do NOT, I repeat: do NOT watch the reboot of Charmed. It's complete and utter crap, and it completely ruins the standard that the old series has set)

Concerning the Star Trek alarm clock: I actually have no idea where I left that. I've lost it ever since I moved to my current apartment, so could be that it's in a box somewhere in my storage cellar, or I've lost or maybe even gave it away. It's been almost 20 years, so what really may have happened to it, is anyone's guess.

I have found a link that shows you what it looked like, so you can at least satisfy your curiosity to some extent:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Trek-Generation-Enterprise-NCC-...

As for the family chronicles: sounds like a beer and campfire story...

@bimmy-lee Yeah, I completely agree with you. Things have most certainly taken a turn for the worse, and mostly with relatively new users, that subscribed between 2018 and now. Another example is how people don't even seem to recognize a joke or sarcasm anymore. @HobbitGamer made a funny comment (in my opinion) in the "dress your cat up like Tom Nook" article, and was almost immediately attacked by some idiot/SJW, who instantly assumed he must be some young kid who didn't possess the emotional skills or experience to understand how animals feel and such.

I thought it was really sad and short-sighted. And another thing I notice nowadays, is people jumping into the comments section after not even having read an article, but instead just reacting to the title, which sometimes results in the dumbest of comments.

As for the photo: what I like about it, is the out of focus background. You could have made the entire picture sharp, but with the focus on the branch in the front, it adds WAY more depth and the colors are good as well. It's a good representation of a sunny early spring day. If you can make people feel or see that from a picture without there being too many spoilers on the picture itself, then you've done a good job.

@Tyranexx - Let’s see, you’re in the Land of Lincoln, so I’ll use my very, very accurate recall of US history and make an educated guess that most of your flowering trees are actually apple trees; as Ole Honest Abe Lincoln-Seed once walked the land with a cooking pot cap chopping down all the cherry trees and planting apple seeds while never telling lies. He was 85 axe handles tall!
Seriously though, my nose and sinus’ always tells me at least a week out that the spring flowers are coming.

@ThanosReXXX - Well, thank you for the compliments on the picture. Glad it gave you a very spring specific feeling. I thought maybe you and Hobbit were talking about a specific incident yesterday, I’ll check the link, thanks. It’s a shame that humor is getting canceled. People will be miserable without it, or they already are. That whole, super serious SNK debate was, at its heart, about a deleted tweet!!! That makes me want to kidnap the commissioner’s daughter and light a giant pile of money on fire.

@bimmy-lee Haha, yeah. And to think that the whole purpose of Twitter is to be able to post short messages or thoughts. The article here probably had more reactions than that Tweet initially had, relatively speaking.

@HobbitGamer Oh, that was the article about the SNK Samurai Shodown apology Tweet. If you're feeling particularly brave, feel free to dive into THAT comments section. Talk about a real dumpster fire...

Meanwhile the new Paper Mario game article seems to be the latest contender for dumpster fire of the day. Yes, I said it: of the DAY. It used to be that we had entire months without idiots storming the comments sections, but now it has rapidly increased from weekly moron-a-thons to daily ones.

These people need take a f-ing breather already. Apparently, they seem to think that it's completely normal to already start condemning a game that they know next to nothing about, and to decide, based upon a 2 minute trailer that it's going to be a bad game. It's SO bloody tiresome. It's even worse than that SNK article, racking up well over 300 comments already, and counting.

I seriously want to smack all of their heads together and give them a clothesline wedgie...

@WoomyNNYes I don't intend to rate any NES games, seeing as I never owned a NES.

@ThanosReXXX - Good point, I’m sure you’re right given the tweet was quickly deleted, as it should have been. It was a corny joke, the kind of thing someone would think in their head and then be glad they didn’t say out loud because the overly sexual nature wraps the whole thing in a glorious, ironic cloak of virginity. It’s all pretty funny. Can’t imagine planting some kind of morality flag on it either way though. Not even if I was suuuper bored.

@HobbitGamer - Yeah, what Thanos said. Now that I have your attention, there’s something I’ve been meaning to address with you. It’s all the animal abuse dude. Why Hobbit?!? Those animals were doing fine barely getting by on minimum love and rations at the shelter before you took them home and started beating them with care and food. It’s 2020 Joe Exotic. I think it’s time you realize we can’t even look at animals without abusing them, even the domesticated kind that rely on us to survive.

@BruceCM But how would I know BEFORE having done so? I don't happen to own a magic crystal ball that's going to predict which comments section is going to turn into a dumpster fire...

And besides: why should normal people stay out of comments sections and should the idiots be allowed to roam free? That's basically the world upside down. There's a reason why a lot of us ended up here many years ago, and that is because this was one of the few gaming web sites left with a relatively normal and relaxed community. Now, most of us all have to find our oasis here, in the Chit-Chat thread instead...

It was an idea, @ThanosReXXX .... You are, of course, allowed to go there & post, too! I read some of the articles & vaguely scan the comments but don't usually read many of those

@BruceCM It's just that you can't escape it, even if you wanted to. Usually, if I take the time to read an article, I'll also want to make a comment underneath it, so at the very least, I have to scroll through the comments already made. Now, I can already hear you say "sure, but you don't have to READ them", and to that I say: yes, I actually do, at least for the most part, because I don't want to be one of those idiots who immediately jumps into the comments section to post something that 5 people before me have already said, so I want to know what people are talking about, in regards to that article, and as such, you get pulled in.

Yeah, I know how it can go, @ThanosReXXX .... If I read some article announcing a game I'm interested in, I can post that without having to worry about who else might be saying the same It'd be more complicated with some other articles, of course
