@ThanosReXXX - Yeah, I usually help him identify the objectionable behavior and craft a plan for avoiding it in the future, but it seems impulse control is as much a challenge for him as it is for many people. Being annoying with reporting people is a new problem as far as I know. Usually his bans come from behavior after he’s allowed a troll to whip him into a frenzy. I know the powers that be are good to him in allowing him chances to learn from his behavior, so hopefully he’ll be back around eventually. I’m sure he has stuff for me to report to this thread, so I’ll update everyone after I’ve gotten back in touch with him.

@Zuljaras - I mentioned to Thanos that the over reporting behavior was news to me, I don’t think it’s typically what gets him in trouble here, though I could be wrong. It would definitely be annoying if someone was firing off reports every time they’re offended. I do know he gets warnings first, so even though I like Anti and think he’s funny; he has to contribute within the rules like everyone else.

@Lucarianzx Those kind of scams are very normal on Ebay. In fact online sites in general are like that when it comes to some systems (most GBA and DS games sold online are fakes for example).

It's stuff like this along with Nintendo's poor management of NSO that makes you really appreciate the value of Virtual Console in the Wii and Wii U eras.

@grumblevolcano, but like why hasn't ebay removed it and why are people still buying it? It just simply doesn't add up.

@Lucarianzx People buying it are uninformed, they think it's just legit cheap. I found out about the GBA/DS thing because someone on the Nintendo Life forums created a guide of how to find out if a cart is fake.

Does ebay have any guarantee on stuff there....? I stick to sites I know for games

@grumblevolcano That's really interesting with like gba/ds stuff. I prefer to go around to my local game store (NOT GAMESTOP) which our city's fortunate enough to have to go hunting around for older games that I know for a fact are legit and not a Chinese knock off.

@roy130390 Everspace is definitely different than what I'm used to. It and Cadence of Hyrule are the only die-and-upgrade games I don't get too annoyed with.

@Tyranexx Yeah. I'm sure I come off as someone who hates western 3D computer animation and that's not really the case. I hate that it has replaced the old fashioned 2D animation that I prefer. If the two systems lived side by side (like say, how it is in Japan) rather than replacing it almost entirely. I do know there's still some older style animation among true children's cartoons on TV but that's pretty much it. If shows like South Park and the Simpsons weren't already established, they'd never be released today. I don't know how much Adult Swim stuff is around these days, last I heard they still relied mostly on localizing the more uncensored anime - which I have no issue with, but it's not their own content.

Oh, and on the note of the live action remakes - I'd probably have no issues with them if they were original stand alone films, absent their original version. But in reality they just strike me as unneeded inferior versions of many classics - even if they aren't really that bad in their own right. It's like, if there were two pizza places right next to each other, they sold pizza at the same price, and I know the one on the left is more of what I like for pizza, why am I going to chose the one on the right? Ever? Pretty much only if a friend asks me to. And then, only for the friend, not for the inferior pizza.

@ThanosREXXX Thanks for the controller advice. I'm going to say we have strongly differing opinions on that other topic we talked about and drop it from there. I shouldn't have stuck my nose in that conversation.

@bimmy-lee I've observed Anti on here for quite a while, I know his quirks, how he acts and what works him up...you'd think by now the mods would too perhaps and be a bit more tolerant? Reporting is an invisible activity as far as I can see, unless he's really overdoing it, I dunno...

Saying that though I've seen questionable moderator behaviour in here in the past, people getting banned for lashing out at trolls, regulars like Jaxon getting bombarded with attacks during that Pokemon meltdown, whilst mods were joining in with the meltdown and ignoring what was happening in the thread. Not to mention ex-mods becoming whiners. Strange, they're supposed to be a fair and neutral bunch. Remember "no profanity, please"?

Anyway I thought I would pop my head in here, take a break from the main site and have a look around.

I got a new vehicle, so that's exciting. 2017 Jeep Renegade Latitude 4x4 with 50k on it. What with mom's reaction and cognition putting her on driving restriction for the foreseeable, she opted to trade in her 16 Fusion on something with lower payments, lower apr, and more comfortable for me to drive. Got gap insurance and a 4 year bumper to bumper as well, and the thing has more safety features than I can understand right now. I kept the pickup as a backup vehicle and for big hauls, but managed to save $60/month by lowering the coverage. Pretty fun weekend.

@WiltonRoots - Yo dude, you should take a chit chat break from the main page from time to time. Yeah, I’m usually a bit baffled when Anti gets banned, mainly because we remember some people who acted like clowns every day here for years; and his behavior outwardly doesn’t seem to be anything near as offensive. I’m not sure about the behind the scenes stuff like reporting and whatnot. I can tell you he was upset and called me through IG for about five straight minutes one morning while I was trying to make breakfast for my kids. If he reports with that type of tenacity, I guess it could get a bit overwhelming. It’s better with him around though in my opinion.

I have a hard time understanding moderating, it’s hard for me to relate to it. I’m not great at moderation, and we’re more the moderated than the moderator types. It’s like a dog trying to understand what it’s like to be a cat, but yeah, I’ve seen all manner of behavior here. There’s one constant though; Eel will never let you down, unlike Morpheel.

@HobbitGamer - Awesome, those look fun to drive, I see them around quite a bit (back when I left the home and drove to strange and exotic places, like Walgreens). Automatic or five speed?

Hello everyone. Wow it's different on this side of the fence!

So yeah, what have I been doing in my downtime? Very little gaming. Trying to work my way through a mountain of mp3s I've accumulated over the past couple of years to use with my Serato setup which I hadn't touched in 5 years, so I've been enjoying that. Mostly house, disco, techno and drum and bass.

I've filled a couple of layout pads with sketches and my coffee table is covered in markers. My work has kept me busy as well, had a couple of nice retouching jobs to do and been converting old minidiscs to mp3 when I found my old MD player and a pile of discs during a tidy up.

Other than that, getting drunk on video calls to LA, Barcelona, New York and with work colleagues. We also have our regular curry club video lunch on a Thursday!

@bimmy-lee That's one thing we don't agree on, I think. Or at least not entirely: I simply don't see him learning from past experiences, or at least not enough to prevent it from him getting banned again, at some point in time. The first two times (or was it three already?) were all for more or less the same reasons, and only now did he get banned for something else, but still an understandable reason.

It's just that, either due to his own demeanor or heritage/origins, or his Asperger's, that he has no limits and/or broader view in some situations, which is the exact same reason that he has no understanding and/or respect for other people's choices or likes in game types. And in a worst case scenario, which has also happened several times already, he gets VERY aggressive about it, trying to tell/command people how to behave and so on. And if you stop to think for a moment how he's always so adamant about non-aggressive and or violent games or behavior, it's kind of ironic how he himself can fly off the handle so relatively easily...

To him it's all so VERY black and white, and unfortunately, I'm all but certain that until he actually learns that not everyone feels or should feel like he does, and how to deal with that appropriately and in a manner that doesn't rub people the wrong way, he'll more than likely get banned again, at some point in the future.

Maybe, something for you to discuss with him is how he doesn't have to react to EVERY topic or comment that goes against what he believes or likes, if he wasn't a part of the discussion to begin with. Or simply tell him to put these people on the ignore list, or whatever. It would save him from any potential backlash from other members, and it would save them from being annoyed by yet another highly predictable Anti comment saying how this game is so and so and what not.

And that would probably also take away the need for him to report people, which would be part of the solution to his current ban problem. Anyway, we'll ultimately see how things pan out, I suppose. Here's hoping he can really keep it together from now on.

@Tyranexx Yeah, I know that the port-a-potty isn't the most hygienic of solutions, especially in these times, but from my own experience over here, social distancing still works the best of ALL measures, so no matter how much soap and fresh water you have at any location, it's still simply too many people together in one place at the same time, so that's still not something that's preferable over having to bring some hand sanitizer yourself.

Just out of curiosity: why don't you watch a lot of movies or TV in your own home? Because you watch them elsewhere? Seems that you explicitly mentioned the "not in your own home" part to imply just that, unless I'm misunderstanding that statement...

@Heavyarms55 I was kinda hoping we could discuss that in a way that just lists facts and how things are, and in a way that doesn't involve these strong emotions, to come to a point where you truly get what I'm trying to make you see, or at the very least some kind of common ground and that was also the point that I was trying to make, but if you'd rather drop it, then I'll respect that, so fair enough.
