@ThanosReXXX Nope, that Wii isn't specifically my console. It was purchased for the entire family to use with the understanding that it would be shared. It was the first full-blown TV console I had regular access to. The runner-up would be the SNES I frequently played growing up, but that belonged to my aunt's family. The thing is, if nobody had been using the Wii recently, I probably could have made off with it for a small sum.

I really enjoy baby animals. Most are indeed cute, and heck, I'll even handle animals that some don't find cute. I've held various rodents, a few reptiles, amphibians, and even various bugs in my day. The vast majority of those were tame. Putting aside childhood curiosity/stupidity when it came to some bugs (Note: never collect field spiders in your hand without protection) and a few accidental stings/bites, the worst injury I've sustained was a bite from a chipmunk when trying to save it from a cat.

Calves will indeed headbutt. They will do it to their mother's udder, but they're not against headbutting a bucket they're eating or drinking out of either. XD There have been an unusually high amount of them among my dad and bro's stock who were either rejected by their mothers or couldn't nurse normally this year.

@Tyranexx I tried that with a girlfriend once, it wasn't appreciated the same way.

@Tyranexx Ah, okay... in that case, you don't have much to say about it, then. Well, then I guess we may have to put that on the "to buy someday, at my own pace" list of yours as well, right next to that Blu-Ray player and that book about Greek mythology...

Prices for refurbished ones aren't too bad, currently:

And otherwise, there's always eBay, of course:

@HobbitGamer Head-butting? You caveman...

@Tyranexx Honestly you're really better off having started Pokemon Go later. I actually quit the game after a few months in the early days. At that time there were no gyms, no raids, no trading, no gifts, no PvP, no buddy Pokemon, no research tasks, no community days, no special spawn hours, no friends, no gifting and more missing features than Swiss cheese has holes in cartoons! And the vast majority of spawns were just Rattata, Pidgey and Caterpie. There was something to be said of the fun of big groups of people all chasing down a Snorlax that someone reported online. And just the social fun of an excuse for groups to walk around outside doing something and chatting... but that wore off after only a few weeks.

If the game had launched with all the features it now has, it would have been triple the hype we had, even though it was a phenomenon like I haven't seen in years. Niantic has done tremendous work to improve the game and they've gone through some serious rough patches. Community days were ruined several times over by their servers' inability to handle the strain of everyone being on at the same time. The original way gyms functioned were just terrible! And several Pokemon Go festivals were ruined because again, they overloaded the system with too many people - poor planning.

Yet despite all that, the game remains alive and well because it is actually rather good now. Pandemic aside of course. I imagine once things are safer again, PoGo is gonna see a big resurgence of people who just really want to go back outside.

No, it comes with a one-way cork...

@HobbitGamer ...I would think not! I'm unsure if chest-beating would have gotten you anywhere either. XD Hope your mom is doing well.

@ThanosReXXX Heh, yep, I'll have to add it to the list! I'm not hurting for one since my Wii U is perfectly functional, and many of the GCN games that I was the most interested in have been ported to other consoles. It would still be nice to have access to the GameCube library though, particularly since there are STILL no signs of The Thousand Year Door making a more modern appearance....

I might jump for that mythology book and Blu-Ray player before that comes around. As usual, thanks for the links!

@ogo79 Oh gosh, French Fries dipped in ice cream or a shake are amazing. Something about that sweet & salty flavor is just SO. RIGHT.

@Heavyarms55 I had read that Pokemon Go was pretty barebones earlier on and remember seeing the memes about Pidgey and Rattata. XD Honestly I feel like Niantic should have fine-tuned things a bit more (such as adding gyms and allowing friends/gifting) before launching the game back then, but the sheer hype made bank for them regardless. And, going off of the server issues they had early on - I recall reading about how Go Fest in Chicago a year or two ago was a disaster due to overload - they weren't expecting it to be as big as it was. In hindsight I'm glad I waited, but man did I feel like I was missing out on all the hype at the time.

The only major thing I wish the game had is remote trading, especially in light of current events. I have a few lucky friends right now; most I could probably coordinate a distanced meet-up with, but one person lives several states away and the other is staying indoors indefinitely for now; the guy has Crohn's Disease.

At its core, however, it's still a mobile game. A decent one, way better than many free mobile games that are out there IMO, but I still prefer the main series and playing on consoles vs. my phone.

@Tyranexx She's doing alright, thanks. Saw her PCP today, they did some blood work and cognition tests. Got referred to a different neurologist after last week's stellar performance, so that's good. She starts PT tomorrow. Oh, and she isn't allowed to drive because her reaction time is apparently abysmal. So she didn't like that. She's open to playing some co-op beat em up games to help that, so Altered Beast will rise from the gwave.

@HobbitGamer Sounds like you and her are getting results, which is good. I can see how not being able to drive would be frustrating. Better help those reflexes with some Altered Beast! So she's a beat-em-up fan?

@ThanosReXXX Hah, thanks for the mention. I've barely been around here lately. Too busy. You'd think otherwise, and busy is kinda good.... Much better than not busy these days.... But I'm running on pure adrenaline alone at this point. Between real work (that's actually still a thing for we lucky few) managing food, and a dozen other crises that become catastrophes due to all the weirdness, a few hours of sleep then back to running at warp speed seems to be all there is for 2 months. I played a little Spyro 2 a few weeks ago, an Easter treat to myself, but that's the full extent of games I've touched on months. Animal crossing will be opened over the weekend perhaps...... While we plunge into January weather again. Everything seems upside down, even the weather is confused.

Trains don't seem terribly appealing at the moment either.... Though they announced cruises will return in August. I mean, if you have to pay lots of money to acquire a sickness, the means of acquiring syphilus sounds like a lot more bang for your buck than a lousy carnival cruise. You can even score a BOGO there! .

Heavyarms55

@Tyranexx Yeah you're spot on with those things you heard about. They really did release the game too early. But it is a mobile game after all and even though I like it a lot now after years of updates, no mobile game is a good as most true video games on console or PC.

@Tyranexx Well, then I hope I'll still be alive or of sane mind, by the time you get to buying that Wii, seeing as I was supposed to help you soft-mod it...

@ogo79 It's dangerous to go alone. Here, take this:
Untitled
@NEStalgia You're welcome. I was just wondering, since normally, you were a regular on here, and of late of course pretty vocal in the Corona virus thread, so I decided to throw you a message to find out what was up...

I've only bought and played a couple of small/cheap games, because I simply haven't got the budget right now, but I'll get to Animal Crossing next month: currently, I have no work, because I didn't manage to get any new assignments before all this crap started (#life as an independent contractor sucks in these times), and these current restrictions mean that a LOT of companies have not only locked down themselves, but also their business affairs with third parties like myself, so I'm living on my reserves right now, but at the end of the month, I still have a long awaited bonus coming, albeit a relatively moderate one.

But erm.... BOGO?

@HobbitGamer Ah, okay. Guess I'm REALLY starting to get old now, not knowing all the "hip and happening" abbreviations anymore...

Always hated those anyway. I'm more of a "bloody damn well say what you mean and don't speak in riddles or buzz words" kinda person. One wouldn't expect that, me being in sales & marketing and all, but there you go.
I'm actually a relatively normal person regardless.

Well, except of course for my sacrilegious love for pineapple on pizza...
