@Heavyarms55
I was thinking Corona virus like a Real Grim Reaper embodied in virus form as mentioned from Bible or something.
NO WAY !!
We will annihilate those pesky virus from the Earth and the claim of Judgement Day signs is a fallacy !
@Heavyarms55 I have the same rules. Clean hands before touching my controllers or handheld systems, and I don't allow snacking to happen anywhere except in my kitchen or pantry. I don't wanna give the outdoor pests more reasons to sneak in! And greasy furniture sucks when you have to clean it.
I've handled greasy controllers at other places. I'll use them if there's nothing else around, but my skin crawls and part of me dies inside.

@Tyranexx I pretty much started treating my stuff extra carefully around the GameCube. Probably because I bought it with my own money š. But yea younger me wasn't a neat freak with my stuff.
@NintendoByNature We tied with that last one; both of us were at 2 seconds! XD
I had a phat blue DS once that had seen better days, but its slow march to death's door wasn't of my own doing. I think I've explained that one before though.

@Tyranexx lol. Thankfully most of my stuff still works, so that's a plus. Any handheld is more likely to take a beating so not much you can do about that.
@NintendoByNature To be fair, the touch screen losing some of its sensitivity on that old DS was my own fault - too much Guitar Hero: On Tour with that "special" pick stylus, which I've since realized didn't do the screen any favors - and the cosmetically damaged shoulder buttons were kinda my fault (dropping it a couple of times; but they still worked okay!). But the damaged upper screen with a messed-up, ghosting display that slowly became worse over time? That was due to some moron pulling out right in front of my mom while she was driving. She thankfully stopped in time, but the resulting force caused my DS to go flying and hit the floor of the van in an unfortunate way. I could often get the upper screen to display properly if I played with how the upper screen was oriented enough, but eventually, over a period of several years, even that didn't work. It's amazing that I was even able to finish Phantom Hourglass.

@Anti-Matter Relax man, we will beat the virus. Ignore the end of times people. They literally say any disaster, any major issue, is a sign of the end and have been saying those things for centuries. The virus is a problem for sure, but it's a problem that humanity will overcome. Same as the economic issues that are being brought on alongside it. Yes, both aspects are scary - I admit to being scared now. But it's not the end - humanity has beaten back far worse things. We survived two world wars, and the Cold War. There have been other epidemics in the past and we are still here. Scientists are working their way to a vaccine. We'll win this!
@Tyranexx I have no social life, so it's rare I visit someone else's place and thus rare that I touch someone else's controller. Though I did occasionally use my cousin's controllers when I was a kid and I remember those being... less than clean. But they had 7 kids, 2 cats, 3 dogs and 2 adults in the house. Nothing was clean.

@Heavyarms55 That describes most of my current situation; I have a bit of a social life, but playing games unfortunately isn't usually a part of it. I'm a bit of an outlier when it comes to gaming in my immediate family too. I have some young cousins that are into it, but I don't see them often. One lives quite far away and loves Mario, but...let's just say that he doesn't take losing well. He's getting better about managing his outbursts, but it's challenging for him. He's on the high end of the spectrum.
The place I recall using a dirty controller the most was at a babysitter's that I went to at one point. I liked her place overall, but there were usually a lot of kids my age around, including one of her own children. They had a Sega Genesis that I absolutely loved playing, but the controllers were definitely gross sometimes. shudder
@NintendoByNature There are plenty of stories in the "It wasn't my fault, but something happened anyway" department too. XD
@bimmy-lee Ummm things are relatively back to normal. There are new cases cropping up but it seems like people are just taking precautions and living with it. Iād say the country is about 75-80% operating normally. Thatās really the best situation you can hope for at this point. Iām going out regularly now and the weather is warming up which has made walking and riding the bike more pleasant. How about in your neck of the woods?
@Tyranexx Ohh yeah. Crazy Tracy thatās right. Really helpful. Not sure what going on in there though. Nintendo, what kind of āawakeningā is this?
It's crazy.
Suddenly i was thinking ACNL Welcome Amiibo 3DS was better in term of all contents in cartridge than ACNH Switch.
In 30 years from now, ACNL will be still same, but ACNH will lost their special events due to updates and Online services.
And to think 30 years from now, i will be a 60+ years old Grandpa, realized some of my games has died or still survived. With at least 10 - 20 years again after i will be 60+ years old, to realize that i will lost everything someday it likes the biggest fear for me. If suddenly i pass away, i left my games abandoned, at least i want a few minutes to say goodbye to Earth and my games.
@Anti-Matter Honestly in 30 years you'll be able to emulate Switch games on your wristwatch. And this issue is hardly limited to Animal Crossing New Horizons. It's the same with almost all games being made these days. Not much we can do - we either play them as they are, or we don't play them.
Nothing is stopping you from sticking to older games if that's what you prefer.
And with Animal Crossing I feel like with each released the games have been improved and built upon in such a way that there is very little reason to go back to older entries. Not so with most games, but AC? Yeah I don't see much reason to return to an older entry in the series anymore. Pokemon? Fire Emblem? Mario? Many JRPGs? Yeah, for sure! But each Animal Crossing is basically the same game, with more features than the last. I don't imagine ACNH will be the last in the series. In 30 years we'll probably have had 5-10 more entries in the series by then.

Finally got my pole vaulting pole in AC, and I think I understand the game a little more now. I wasnāt missing anything, thereās only so much progress I can make in a day before Iām gated by real time. Iām fine with that. I would have liked to advance my island a bit more than I did last night, but I still had fun fishing, bug collecting, and supply hoarding.
@NintendoByNature - Itās so true. He could never vom again for the rest of his life, and heād still always be known as the guy who yakked pizza and Jolt on the driveway the next morning!
@Tyranexx - I didnāt make a habit of treating my controllers like that, but if you were playing in a group setting with kids like NBN and I were talking; you were gonna end up with a slimed controller at some point. I was good to my stuff, though I still cringe thinking about winding the cords tightly around the controllers to store them.
@NotTelevision - Good to hear youāre coming out the other side, hopefully there isnāt another round of infections with things loosening up a bit. I think weāre several months behind where you are, and decidedly less organized and prepared. Things are at about 7% normalcy here and dropping. Itās probably going to go poorly. I wouldnāt be looking to visit any time soon.
@Zuljaras I wouldn't call the Switch's future being barren a console wars thing and the clicks would come from desperation of wanting something to look forward to (even the Wii U in 2016 had more going on than the Switch in 2020 so far). As for the article being talked about, disable comments would've been the most reasonable option.
@bimmy-lee Yeah I donāt think the US was prepared at all for this. I saw in the news the State Department was urging all US citizens abroad to come home now, because they are restricting travel. I thought to myself, āNo, Iām goodā. I wanted to come back around this time, but a repeat of the last 2 and a half months isnāt something I want to repeat. Best of luck to you during this time. Maybe you can flex your cooking or baking skills, if you have motivation for something like that. It can get quite boring.
I just got the pole vault today as well. The game opens up a lot on the third day. That designer app is fun to play around with as well.
@NotTelevision - If you came home right now, youād basically be hitting the reset button on your required/self quarantine, and thatās probably a best case scenario. Iām at home with my 5.5 and 3.5 year old kids, and Iām now also their teacher when my daughter isnāt doing classes via Zoom. Itās kind of crazy and busier than ever! Itās expensive though. I lost every potential paycheck I had in the hopper, several of which I was already invested in with my own cash. My wife is in healthcare and luckily still working, though sheās at home for two days keeping up with patients via a variety of methods while the await test results for several symptomatic providers in her office.
One of my favorite Hunter Thompson quotes was always, āIt never got weird enough for me.ā Itās plenty weird now. Pleeeenty weird.
@bimmy-lee@NintendoByNature Well, as mentioned, the head butt was entirely accidental. I was lounging in my room, laying on my bed, propped up on elbows so I could play the game, and I spent all afternoon trying to beat the high score, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get past it anymore.
Something did dawn on me yesterday, as to why I got so frustrated with that, and that is that it actually wasn't my own high score, but one that my cousin, who is four years older, achieved when I let him play on it, and seeing as I obviously had the high score before that, I tried to get it back again, but I couldn't.
So, what happened with the accidental head butt is that I simultaneously lowered my head in defeat, and brought the handheld up to my head, both a little too fast, which resulted in a cracked LCD screen. And then panic ensued, because I had both wrecked my handheld, that I had actually come to like, and I had to tell my parents, who bought it for me...
I've searched for it online, but seeing as I was 11 at the time, I don't exactly remember what it looked like anymore, but I'm fairly certain it was one of these two:
It's basically the same make and brand, just a different casing and directional controls.
@Zuljaras How exactly did we get to the topic of mini consoles? Because of me mentioning an LCD handheld?
Either way, I definitely do approve of adding more games to them. I have the NES and SNES Mini, and the Megadrive/Genesis Mini. So far, I've only hacked the SNES Mini, and I've added almost a hundred games to its internal flash storage. I haven't gotten around to soft-modding the other two mini consoles yet, but I will, eventually. I just want all of my own favorite games from back in the day on there, and although the default collections that are on them are already pretty good, there's just too many missing that I personally like, so that's why I added more games.
I just found a cheap NES mini even though I have the SNES mini and I plan on adding NES only games to it even if both are the same but with different shells.
The one left is Mega Drive mini. I am not certain but I think there is neo-geo mini but I have to google that.
