It's crazy.
Suddenly i was thinking ACNL Welcome Amiibo 3DS was better in term of all contents in cartridge than ACNH Switch.
In 30 years from now, ACNL will be still same, but ACNH will lost their special events due to updates and Online services.
And to think 30 years from now, i will be a 60+ years old Grandpa, realized some of my games has died or still survived. With at least 10 - 20 years again after i will be 60+ years old, to realize that i will lost everything someday it likes the biggest fear for me. If suddenly i pass away, i left my games abandoned, at least i want a few minutes to say goodbye to Earth and my games.
@Anti-Matter Honestly in 30 years you'll be able to emulate Switch games on your wristwatch. And this issue is hardly limited to Animal Crossing New Horizons. It's the same with almost all games being made these days. Not much we can do - we either play them as they are, or we don't play them.
Nothing is stopping you from sticking to older games if that's what you prefer.
And with Animal Crossing I feel like with each released the games have been improved and built upon in such a way that there is very little reason to go back to older entries. Not so with most games, but AC? Yeah I don't see much reason to return to an older entry in the series anymore. Pokemon? Fire Emblem? Mario? Many JRPGs? Yeah, for sure! But each Animal Crossing is basically the same game, with more features than the last. I don't imagine ACNH will be the last in the series. In 30 years we'll probably have had 5-10 more entries in the series by then.

Finally got my pole vaulting pole in AC, and I think I understand the game a little more now. I wasn’t missing anything, there’s only so much progress I can make in a day before I’m gated by real time. I’m fine with that. I would have liked to advance my island a bit more than I did last night, but I still had fun fishing, bug collecting, and supply hoarding.
@NintendoByNature - It’s so true. He could never vom again for the rest of his life, and he’d still always be known as the guy who yakked pizza and Jolt on the driveway the next morning!
@Tyranexx - I didn’t make a habit of treating my controllers like that, but if you were playing in a group setting with kids like NBN and I were talking; you were gonna end up with a slimed controller at some point. I was good to my stuff, though I still cringe thinking about winding the cords tightly around the controllers to store them.
@NotTelevision - Good to hear you’re coming out the other side, hopefully there isn’t another round of infections with things loosening up a bit. I think we’re several months behind where you are, and decidedly less organized and prepared. Things are at about 7% normalcy here and dropping. It’s probably going to go poorly. I wouldn’t be looking to visit any time soon.
@Zuljaras I wouldn't call the Switch's future being barren a console wars thing and the clicks would come from desperation of wanting something to look forward to (even the Wii U in 2016 had more going on than the Switch in 2020 so far). As for the article being talked about, disable comments would've been the most reasonable option.
@bimmy-lee Yeah I don’t think the US was prepared at all for this. I saw in the news the State Department was urging all US citizens abroad to come home now, because they are restricting travel. I thought to myself, “No, I’m good”. I wanted to come back around this time, but a repeat of the last 2 and a half months isn’t something I want to repeat. Best of luck to you during this time. Maybe you can flex your cooking or baking skills, if you have motivation for something like that. It can get quite boring.
I just got the pole vault today as well. The game opens up a lot on the third day. That designer app is fun to play around with as well.
@NotTelevision - If you came home right now, you’d basically be hitting the reset button on your required/self quarantine, and that’s probably a best case scenario. I’m at home with my 5.5 and 3.5 year old kids, and I’m now also their teacher when my daughter isn’t doing classes via Zoom. It’s kind of crazy and busier than ever! It’s expensive though. I lost every potential paycheck I had in the hopper, several of which I was already invested in with my own cash. My wife is in healthcare and luckily still working, though she’s at home for two days keeping up with patients via a variety of methods while the await test results for several symptomatic providers in her office.
One of my favorite Hunter Thompson quotes was always, “It never got weird enough for me.” It’s plenty weird now. Pleeeenty weird.
@bimmy-lee@NintendoByNature Well, as mentioned, the head butt was entirely accidental. I was lounging in my room, laying on my bed, propped up on elbows so I could play the game, and I spent all afternoon trying to beat the high score, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get past it anymore.
Something did dawn on me yesterday, as to why I got so frustrated with that, and that is that it actually wasn't my own high score, but one that my cousin, who is four years older, achieved when I let him play on it, and seeing as I obviously had the high score before that, I tried to get it back again, but I couldn't.
So, what happened with the accidental head butt is that I simultaneously lowered my head in defeat, and brought the handheld up to my head, both a little too fast, which resulted in a cracked LCD screen. And then panic ensued, because I had both wrecked my handheld, that I had actually come to like, and I had to tell my parents, who bought it for me...
I've searched for it online, but seeing as I was 11 at the time, I don't exactly remember what it looked like anymore, but I'm fairly certain it was one of these two:
It's basically the same make and brand, just a different casing and directional controls.
@Zuljaras How exactly did we get to the topic of mini consoles? Because of me mentioning an LCD handheld?
Either way, I definitely do approve of adding more games to them. I have the NES and SNES Mini, and the Megadrive/Genesis Mini. So far, I've only hacked the SNES Mini, and I've added almost a hundred games to its internal flash storage. I haven't gotten around to soft-modding the other two mini consoles yet, but I will, eventually. I just want all of my own favorite games from back in the day on there, and although the default collections that are on them are already pretty good, there's just too many missing that I personally like, so that's why I added more games.
I just found a cheap NES mini even though I have the SNES mini and I plan on adding NES only games to it even if both are the same but with different shells.
The one left is Mega Drive mini. I am not certain but I think there is neo-geo mini but I have to google that.
@Zuljaras Yup, there is. That's the one that is a table top model. There's also the PlayStation Mini, and two home computer minis, namely the Commodore 64 and Sinclair Spectrum minis.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention that I completely agree on sticking with appropriate games on the Mini consoles, and not putting all kinds of other stuff on there that doesn't belong on it, so I also only got SNES games on my SNES Mini. And not just because I find it weird/stupid to control games from other consoles/computers with a SNES controller. It's just not the same.
As for actually doing the soft-mod whenever you're going to, I'd advise you to take a look at 8 Bit Flashback's YouTube channel. He's done several videos on them, and it's his tutorial that I used to mod my SNES Mini, because it was one of the more easy to follow.
@ThanosReXXX I forgot the PS1 mini. I modded mine with electro inductive ink on one capacitator in order to read ALL USB drives. That way I could add more and more games. The PS1 is the easiest to add games to. And I have never heard of the last 2 minis you mentioned.
Do you guys know any anime like Outlaw Star and Trigun?
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
@ThanosReXXX I've been there too. I throw my back usually in frustration, giving myself whiplash 😉. I'm sure you can find something similar on Amazon though, i would imagine. Or would you like that specific one for nostalgia reasons? I can always keep my eyes peeled.
@Zuljaras Here's the info on the two home computer minis that I mentioned. Like with nearly all the minis, it's obviously mostly interesting for people that actually know and owned or still own these systems, but perhaps it might still make for an interesting read nonetheless.
@ThanosReXXX well alright then. I have a mental image of an 11yr old smashing their head against it lol.
On topic, I might be getting one of those tiger handhelds to collect when they come out. Not sure which one just yet. The other thing im eyeing is the turbo-grafx 16 mini which would be a brand new experience for me. I never played that console in my life. Only Neutopia which i beat the other day. $100 seems high though. Guess i have to think about it.
@Vinny Well, if you like space opera animes such as Outlaw Star, then you'll probably also like most of the Macross series and movies. Other good series that might also interest you are Fist of the North Star, Full Metal Alchemist, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Space Battleship Yamato, Cowboy Bebop, Combat Mecha Xabungle and Cobra.

@bimmy-lee Well I guess the positive could be more time your kids. But I bet that age is a big handful.
I feel like it might be hard for kids to focus on any school stuff right now. There isn’t exactly a sense of urgency with all that’s going on.
But hope you make it through okay, man.
I hold my breath calling home every time, especially after hearing my dad was Ubering again for cash, possibly exposing himself to the virus. Now I miss the “nothing much” calls, with my dad snoozing in the background through a Netflix show.
@NintendoByNature I personally think it's a decent price. In a lot of countries, it was far more popular than Nintendo or Sega, and the games on it are just as good, some even better. I already knew about the system long ago, because a friend of mine used to have the actual console, so I already played a number of PC Engine/Turbografx games. I even added the entire collection of games to my soft-modded Wii.
Just to give you an idea of what's on offer (momentarily ignoring what titles are actually on there, because it's going to be hackable, after all), here's a "best of" video:
Oh, by the way: are you a proud Animal Crossing owner yet, or did you manage to restrain yourself?
