@NintendoByNature - Oh man, Jolt! You guys probably had little kid strokes while binging on that and didn’t even realize. Yep, I had lots of Sunday kid hangovers from staying up late gaming while eating junk food at friend’s houses. One time we were playing basketball in the driveway at one place the next morning while waiting to be picked up, and one friend just puked right in the middle of the driveway. It was like an early glimpse of Sundays in college.

You don’t sound spoiled to me about the Dallas jacket because I know I wasn’t spoiled, and I had those exact same fears any time my mom or dad caved on something and said they’d pick it up for me. I would go scrambling to find a picture of whatever it was in a catalog so they could take it with them for reference, and it was still a roll of the dice if they’d get the exact right thing.

@HobbitGamer - Whoa, I think you’re decidedly further along with things than I am. I could be totally whiffing on AC logic though as it’s my first try. Right now I’m just gathering, crafting, and hoping I come across a recipe to craft something to get me across a river. Also, Tarantula 2, me 0. I know what I have to do, but I just panic and blow it every time. I opened my airport gates last night, so I think you can visit my island now.

@Tyranexx - Wow, I wasn’t brave enough to start in hero mode. Mainly because I haven’t played it, and I’m not very good at 2D LOZs. It definitely was a bit easy until the dungeon I mentioned, but I’m also a huge heart container hunter in all Zelda games.

Many young boys were not bothered by pizza grease or Dorito dust on controllers in my experience. I didn’t love getting handed a gross controller, but it never stopped me. I think it’s a gender thing because I can say for sure that if I handed each kid a greasy controller, my daughter would freak out and my son wouldn’t even notice it, and he’d accidentally transfer some of the grease to his hair within five seconds.

@NotTelevision - So how are things going for you now, I see China is starting to lift some of the restrictions? Any semblance of normal or new normal back in your life?

@bimmy-lee hahaha an early glimpse sounds about right. That's about when the youngins all say to one another. "It was a hell of a night boys." When it was only jolt/surge/Caesars and late night gaming sessions hahaha

@Zuljaras Nintendo Life did have an easier way to get clicks. A few more articles on the Direct drought would've done the trick "Longest Direct drought ever" and "For the first time, Nintendo has no upcoming releases with release dates" come to mind.

This is a fun game. Here would be my click bait article:

Is it good? (It’s not good... but maybe?)

@NintendoByNature - Fellas, we really got all we could out of this, didn’t we? We saw the sun come up together, and we’ll always have that memory, helluva night, helluva night (memory immediately fades as you’re in and out of sleep for the next 24 hours when you get home).

Edit - Here’s my Buzzfeed esque clickbait article, “10 Ways Brie Larson Said Censorship and Streaming Games are the Way of the Future”

@NotTelevision Crazy Tracy? Yep, I've found her. She's definitely saved Link's life a few times. XD Part of it is that there's a death counter on the save file that I'm trying really hard to keep at zero thanks to my OCD. Every Link wipe kicks off a Retry/Reload scenario.

I am glad that there are more heart pieces in this game. I believe the original had a count of 12; if I recall correctly, the max possible hearts in the original and DX versions was 14, whereas this seems to have the full 20. My Link currently has seven hearts, but is close to 8/9 via one more piece and on completion of this dungeon.

@NintendoByNature Fair point. I wasn't as much of a neat freak as a kid, but I still treated my systems pretty well for the most part. That was mainly because I knew they weren't cheap to replace. The only one that's been through the mill is my old blue GBA SP; that thing has been about everywhere and has been dropped by klutzy me more than once. It still worked last I checked, but the shoulder buttons are iffy (I believe they're full of lint), and it doesn't always power on correctly; I believe the internal switch may be loose or damaged.

@bimmy-lee I think gender may certainly be a part of it, though I think it also has to do with personality and the environment one is brought up in as well. I wasn't a saint with my things (see above), but I tried to treat them well for the most part. Even more so if I was using a borrowed book or item. I just wish more people were the same. There's a reason I don't typically loan out some things like books anymore, unless I really trust someone.

Part of the reason I started in Hero Mode is that I found the original game (well, the slightly tricked-out GBC version that I played via the VC) to be a bit easy. As you mentioned, there is more of a difficulty spike in the later dungeons; I don't recall Face Shrine being too bad, but the dungeon after that was and will certainly be a doozy. I'm taking my time with the game as I like exploring (and the nostalgia trip. ) as well as trying to collect all the heart containers and secret seashells.

First world problems in the extreme - 100% more so since many people are getting laid off and/or forced to stay home... but man! I don't want to be at work today! I wanna stay home and play more Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem!

I'm lucky to have this job and to be getting paid even when there's not students, I get it, I am massively lucky. But I'm a selfish SOB sometimes!

On a different note - I somehow jacked up my back while cleaning my apartment over the weekend (I guess, I honestly don't know what did it) and it hurts quite a bit to move my head or arms in certain directions... Not like I can visit a chiropractor right now...

@Tyranexx Greasy controllers are a crime against humanity. If I let people use my controller, they're washing their hands and we do not eat while we play. I don't even snack while I play games myself. If I'm hungry, I stop playing the game, put the controller down and watch a video while I eat.

I was thinking Corona virus like a Real Grim Reaper embodied in virus form as mentioned from Bible or something.
NO WAY !!
We will annihilate those pesky virus from the Earth and the claim of Judgement Day signs is a fallacy !

@Heavyarms55 I have the same rules. Clean hands before touching my controllers or handheld systems, and I don't allow snacking to happen anywhere except in my kitchen or pantry. I don't wanna give the outdoor pests more reasons to sneak in! And greasy furniture sucks when you have to clean it.

I've handled greasy controllers at other places. I'll use them if there's nothing else around, but my skin crawls and part of me dies inside.

@Tyranexx I pretty much started treating my stuff extra carefully around the GameCube. Probably because I bought it with my own money 😋. But yea younger me wasn't a neat freak with my stuff.

Tyranexx

@NintendoByNature We tied with that last one; both of us were at 2 seconds! XD

I had a phat blue DS once that had seen better days, but its slow march to death's door wasn't of my own doing. I think I've explained that one before though.

@Tyranexx lol. Thankfully most of my stuff still works, so that's a plus. Any handheld is more likely to take a beating so not much you can do about that.

NintendoByNature

@NintendoByNature To be fair, the touch screen losing some of its sensitivity on that old DS was my own fault - too much Guitar Hero: On Tour with that "special" pick stylus, which I've since realized didn't do the screen any favors - and the cosmetically damaged shoulder buttons were kinda my fault (dropping it a couple of times; but they still worked okay!). But the damaged upper screen with a messed-up, ghosting display that slowly became worse over time? That was due to some moron pulling out right in front of my mom while she was driving. She thankfully stopped in time, but the resulting force caused my DS to go flying and hit the floor of the van in an unfortunate way. I could often get the upper screen to display properly if I played with how the upper screen was oriented enough, but eventually, over a period of several years, even that didn't work. It's amazing that I was even able to finish Phantom Hourglass.

@Anti-Matter Relax man, we will beat the virus. Ignore the end of times people. They literally say any disaster, any major issue, is a sign of the end and have been saying those things for centuries. The virus is a problem for sure, but it's a problem that humanity will overcome. Same as the economic issues that are being brought on alongside it. Yes, both aspects are scary - I admit to being scared now. But it's not the end - humanity has beaten back far worse things. We survived two world wars, and the Cold War. There have been other epidemics in the past and we are still here. Scientists are working their way to a vaccine. We'll win this!

@Tyranexx I have no social life, so it's rare I visit someone else's place and thus rare that I touch someone else's controller. Though I did occasionally use my cousin's controllers when I was a kid and I remember those being... less than clean. But they had 7 kids, 2 cats, 3 dogs and 2 adults in the house. Nothing was clean.

@Tyranexx yea thats always the worst when something breaks and you didn't even do anything to break it.

NintendoByNature

Tyranexx

@Heavyarms55 That describes most of my current situation; I have a bit of a social life, but playing games unfortunately isn't usually a part of it. I'm a bit of an outlier when it comes to gaming in my immediate family too. I have some young cousins that are into it, but I don't see them often. One lives quite far away and loves Mario, but...let's just say that he doesn't take losing well. He's getting better about managing his outbursts, but it's challenging for him. He's on the high end of the spectrum.

The place I recall using a dirty controller the most was at a babysitter's that I went to at one point. I liked her place overall, but there were usually a lot of kids my age around, including one of her own children. They had a Sega Genesis that I absolutely loved playing, but the controllers were definitely gross sometimes. shudder

@NintendoByNature There are plenty of stories in the "It wasn't my fault, but something happened anyway" department too. XD

@bimmy-lee Ummm things are relatively back to normal. There are new cases cropping up but it seems like people are just taking precautions and living with it. I’d say the country is about 75-80% operating normally. That’s really the best situation you can hope for at this point. I’m going out regularly now and the weather is warming up which has made walking and riding the bike more pleasant. How about in your neck of the woods?

@Tyranexx Ohh yeah. Crazy Tracy that’s right. Really helpful. Not sure what going on in there though. Nintendo, what kind of “awakening” is this?
