@ThanosReXXX lol he never knew what I liked really. Actually none of my family did. I usually got random games at Christmas and birthdays. Sometimes it paid off and sometimes it didnt haha

I skipped an afternoon Link's Awakening session and dug right into my home office reorganization. As always, it took longer than I thought it would, but that project is FINALLY done for the time being. Everything is now sorted into a proper folder, there's less paper clutter in my closet off the office (which shouldn't have built up as much as it did), and my shredder is nice and full after being fed half of the afternoon.

Then I did some other adulting in the forms of bills and a certain census. I am now going about my more relaxed internet rounds.

@bimmy-lee I visit NL on mobile 80-90% of the time and typically on breaks during (normal) work hours, so there are definitely some long gaps now and again on my longer posts. XD It's why I'm trying to step back from longer ones unless I'm using something with a legit keyboard like my laptop right now.

@ThanosReXXX I don't even see the sense in all the fighting that you see in Black Friday videos. I don't see the appeal of having to wrestle crowds for some cheap doorbuster item that Aunt Edna will forget about next year anyway. All to save a few bucks. It's amazing what adrenaline coupled with greed will do to a person. It sounds like an exhausting, not-fun time that can be easily avoided by keeping an eye out for deals online and elsewhere. Heck, most of the time the deals run all day, so there's no sense in most cases to camp out in front of a store and stand in line for hours.

I applaud your described effort in the latest Brie Larson article, but I'm not touching that one with a five hundred foot pole, thanks.

Congrats on your successful bathroom tissue supply run! Hopefully my grocery run in a few days is as successful....

@NintendoByNature My siblings and I had that problem. My parents (Read: Mom; dad isn't much of a gift shopper) were normally pretty good about it, but some of the gifts from relatives ranged from pretty decent to just plain bad. My copy of Mega Man Battle Network 3: White was originally a random B-day gift my brother got from an aunt; he wasn't interested in it, and I ended up with it since I liked the show based off of the games. Then there was the lucky mess-up where my grandma got me the original New Super Mario Bros. on the DS.

Then there were the not-so-great games we ended up with....The worst I can remember were my brother's copies of Chicken Run (GBC) and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing on PC, a couple of DS shovelware games my sister had (though she bought one or two of them...unfortunately), and Pokemon Dash. I'm ashamed to say that I did request the last game.

Yesterday, i learned one word from Dragon Quest Builders 2 PS4.
The word was Night Soil.
And what is Night Soil ?
Night Soil = Human's Poo. What was formerly food, now found piled in pots

@Tyranexx skipping LA for adulting?! I feel like we barely know you anymore 😉. Yea I think i recall you talking about that ds Mario bros copy. I had a good time with it earlier this year. But yea, It's always a pot luck with my family. I think one of the better gifts was from my grandparents on a Christmas, which really surprised me considering they were pretty old at the time. I received shinobi 3 for genesis. Knew nothing about it since i was only about 7 or 8, Maybe 9. But I saw ninjas and i was immediately sold. Ended up being one of my favorite genesis games. I think an aunt bought me tmnt2 for a bday at like 4 or 5 which also ended up being a favorite. So it wasn't always bad, I guess.

@NintendoByNature Nothing wrong with ninjas! Be they human or mutagenic, pizza-loving turtles.

The home office reorganization project (everything ranging from bills, account statements, tax returns, to various cables and old PC games) had been planned for some time. I've been putting it off since the turn of the year and decided to get it over with since I didn't have a lot going on this weekend. Not that my weekends after this one are booked for awhile or anything. I won't be doing any more adulting today. I don't think my sanity can take it. I think I've earned an extended LA session and some reading time.

@Tyranexx there ya go. Good for you. Forgot to ask. Isn't big rigs that horrible buggy mess? I think avgn did a video on it and it's pretty hilarious.

NintendoByNature

Tyranexx

@NintendoByNature Yep, it's that horribly buggy mess of a game that was developed on a REALLY low budget. I'm assuming a relative found it in a bargain bin and decided my brother would enjoy it. He did actually play the game on and off for awhile and liked it; he likes anything to do with trucks. I doubt he still has it. If he does, we need to find a way to install it just for the LOL factor.

Covid-19 Pandemic caused the increase of imported stuff prices due to high USD exchange rate.
I got message from my game shop owner if ACNH was cost Rp 850,000. It was Rp 150,000 more expensive than my expectation. 😩
I have rescheduled my game shopping time for April 2020.
I will consider old games i haven't own yet from Tokopedia with cheaper price, avoid to order from Ebay or playasia at the moment.
Curse you, Covid-19 !! 🤬

@NintendoByNature Yeah, I know the feeling. My parents once gave me an LCD Pac-Man game instead of the full color arcade table top machine that I told them about. Then again: they didn't really like video games or see them as useful or good toys. But ultimately, I grew to love that LCD Pac-Man game, until I accidentally head-butted the screen one day, out of pure frustration because I couldn't get past my own high score anymore. I think you can probably imagine the horror of my 11 year old self seeing that cracked screen turn completely black...

@Tyranexx Yeah, I never partake in Black Friday events either, not even online actually, because more often than not, there's something artificial about it, or fishy, if you will. A number of investigative programs have shown that over the years, prices of items have been raised just before discount events, so that even when they lower them afterwards, they still get a profit out of it. Well, over here at least.

And the things that happen over there... I've seen so many crazy videos from all over the world, because it's now no longer just an American thing. We also got it, just like a number of other European countries. But there is one American video that's still seared into my brain: two black women, of the plus size kind, fighting over a pair of jeans that clearly neither of them would ever fit into, not even with one leg, but that apparently never occurred to them, in the middle of their shopping hysteria/frenzy...

One year for Christmas, my grandma got me one of the early EA NHL hockey games for the Genesis, and I was bummed out because I wanted something else. It ended up being one of my favorite games on that system, and something I still play whenever I hook up the ole Genesis.

@ThanosReXXX - Something logical occurred after TP Team Alpha beamed down to the planetary surface, Captain. It seems the Panic Pirates took advantage of your absence, beamed themselves aboard the Enterprise, and raided our storage and rations. That one rando guy in the red shirt died again. It was bad. Please turn around and attempt a total re stock of necessary supplies. Good luck Captain, live long and prosper.

Also, a headbutt? You savage. One general rule I try to follow is try not to run afoul of a person willing to throw a headbutt. Even if you win, you’re probably gonna lose.

@Tyranexx - I was having a blast with LA, and then there was an outrageous difficulty spike (for me) at one of the dungeons probably 65-75% of the way through, I think it was the Face Dungeon, but I could be wrong. I’m not sure if I’m missing an item or some equipment, but I started getting pummeled out of nowhere. Then LM3 came out last fall, and I pulled off LA and haven’t made it back. I’m hoping to get it figured out and finish the game soon because I really was enjoying it.

@ThanosReXXX oh I've been there. I typically got the off brand version of every thing. Me- "Hey mom, I want Adidas Sandals if youre getting us sandals." Mom- "too expensive, you're getting what you're getting and deal with it." Me- ok then. Mom comes home with some other unknown sandals that look eerily similar to Adidas but definitely arent. I wouldn't have cared but al my buddies would give me a hard time about it since their parents would buy them whatever they wanted. I appreciate it now, but back then kind stunk.

As for smashing and bashing. I did some questionable things myself as a kid with my gaming items. Which completely surprises me that to this day they still work. Brings me to joycon drift and how I treat my switch like a baby(uh oh shouldn't open up that can of worms)..but it's true. I experienced it after 2 years and my other systems still work just fine.

But I used to always feel terrible if I broke one of my gaming items, so I can understand where you were at when you cracked it.

@bimmy-lee the genesis nhl games are great. Me and my buddy used to play them all the time. There was one of the games where we were convinced two teams fight fight the most so we would always pick them. I think one was buffalo and the other may have been Calgary? We clearly had no clue what we were talking about, but we were adamant those two teams would be fighting in a matter of minutes.

NintendoByNature

bimmy-lee

@NintendoByNature - They were so great. Haha, we had theories about the teams too. If I remember right, we thought CHI, DET, and NJ were the fightenist teams, and any matchup between them would basically be a boxing card with a little hockey in between fights. There were certain teams that were off limits too unless both players agreed. Lemieux and Gretzky were like playing with cheat codes, approaching Bo Jackson levels, except they actually could get blasted and laid out by the higher rated defensemen. I had many a late night playing it with my buddies, and I distinctly remember playing it all night at one bday party while chugging Crystal Pepsi and eating endless little caesars pizza and Doritos. Haha, absurd.

My parents had a simple rule about all the trendy stuff. They’d spend X amount of money on something like a jacket or shoes, and if we wanted something more, we had to come up with the cash ourselves. I had two memorable disasters doing this. I saved up for a pair of Reebok Pumps, which fell apart after about three months, and I saved up for a San Antonio Spurs Starter jacket that got stolen at the mall after leaving it unattended in the food court for about three seconds. Good times.

@bimmy-lee yea we had those types of stipulations too during nhl. That was a good idea by your parents. Shows they tried to teach you responsibility. I might start using that 😂. The late nights for me were usually Mario party with either surge or jolt cola. Coupled with a local pizza place down the street. All we had was horrible Sundays where we slept all day, and greasy controllers afterwards.

Yea the starter jacket escapade i had was me begging for probably a full year, for a Dallas cowboys pull over starter jacket. In my early days I loved aikman and Smith, so naturally I wanted it. I ended up getting a Blackhawks one that was full zip. Kind of a let down but it was still a nice jacket. I just really wanted that cowboys jacket. I probably sound like a little spoiled brat but rarely did I ask for things and when I Did, it was usually specific. So when it wasn't what I was hoping For, kinda bummed me out. By age 13 I was pretty much saving my own money to buy what i wanted to ensure i got the correct stuff. So lesson learned I guess.

@ThanosReXXX I'm all for a good discount, but like you mentioned there's usually a hidden catch. The main culprits that I know how to watch for are where electronics are involved; sometimes it's a hot item, true,. It usually the really cheap items are last year's model or are so low-specced or cheaply made that they'll give out in a year or two. Heck, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle Nintendo had during the last holiday season seemed like a good deal until you saw that it shipped with a V1 Switch. Not a big deal if it's docked all the time, but it's a significant difference if one plays tabletop or handheld a lot.

I did buy my Switch around Black Friday, but I actually caved the weekend before. Walmart here had a couple of Switch V2 bundles. One had Minecraft whole the other I caved for came with Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. The latter was on my radar. The bundle cost me about $270 before tax.

@bimmy-lee I'm playing through the game in Hero Mode as I've beaten the DX version a couple of times and thought "Eh, I know this!". I'm starting to regret that decision a little. I played for a little while earlier (at the residence of the parental units right now) and had to leave Key Cavern (the third dungeon) twice to heal up. The good news is I secured the dungeon item before I had to leave.

@NintendoByNature I realize the greasy controller thing likely happened many years ago, but how did you guys stand that? I still don't get how anyone can tolerate the feel of dirty, greasy, controllers and devices.... I always make sure my hands are clean.

@Tyranexx Hero mode can be tough at first, but it gets easier when you get more heart pieces. I think there is girl named Candy or something like that in one of the houses that will give you some medicine. That really helps in the early game.

As usual it’s those Wizzrobes that get me. But that’s every Zelda game.
