@bimmy-lee well now I'm on a mission to catch the largest 😂. Good to know though. We just had some intense smash, mk8, and monopoly sessions so we're postponing labo until tomorrow. @Anti-Matter interesting. I Would imagine Nintendo has some parts you can buy. But then again, I've never tried.
@bimmy-lee DOOD!! I had no idea you could use the fish on your line to get bigger fish! I may play it tomorrow now! Ya know, after I’m all nice and stiff.

@HobbitGamer - We were trying, and the big fish showed interest, but they wouldn’t bite. I think you need to catch a bait fish from the same level as the big fish. My wife was trying with a surface level bait fish at the ocean floor. I bet if you hook a smaller fish from the ocean floor, you can use it to catch the shark.
@Tyranexx - I don’t know what the official run time is on the game, but it seems like you could see and do a lot, and get through the story in 30-40 hours. Or you can get obsessive, dump tons of hours into it, and it will continue to reward you.
@Tyranexx Ah, just give in. You know you want to...
And besides: there's SO much to do in Breath of the Wild, that you'll actually NEED the time until the sequel arrives. You wouldn't want to only be halfway through when the new game arrives, and be late to the party again... (nah, just kidding. I'm the poster child for late to the party. In fact: I sorely need to pick up where I left off again, but perhaps all these "work from home" regulations might enable me to do just that)
@bimmy-lee Fair point. I'll yield to your go to maneuver when we're in your neck of the woods, but over here, it's my playground, so you'll trip over food and drinks everywhere I'll take you, without ever having a chance against my wallet-drawing skills. We can strike up a deal, though...
@bimmy-lee The (arguably good) problem I have with a game like that is that I'm easily sidetracked and will sink in a ton of hours. It'll be one of the few Zelda games where I don't go for 100% as I know it'll take AGES. I'm also not exactly eager about obtaining a golden pile of Korok poo for all 900 seeds lol.
@ThanosReXXX I've held out this long, AND I'm quite stubborn to boot. I'm sure I'll be playing it before the year is out barring any other games that suddenly take precedence, which may happen if I pick up something and decide to play it right then.
I'm quite used to being late in the party in the game department. XD I used to try to play games in the order I picked them up in, but I found playing what I'm in the mood for, while balancing it with a game in a different genre, is an approach that works for me. Not playing too many games means that I finish them and have an easier time of weeding out the ones that aren't worth sinking much play time into.
@Tyranexx Sounds like a plan. As for me also always (or often) being late to the party: luckily, that was mostly an issue (first world problems, aye?) when I still frequently played online with friends, which was basically on Xbox 360 during its entire generation, and in the earlier life of the Xbox One, up til last year.
Most of my friends had a far more steady income than me, what with me being my own boss and having to hunt for contracts, so they always bought any game when it dropped, and they'd be playing from day one, whereas
I would have those same games months or sometimes even a year later, depending on my budget and/or the amount of time that I'd be willing to sink into it.
But seeing as on Nintendo I mostly play alone anyways, being late to the party isn't so much of an issue, except for in regards to having to actively avoid online spoilers and such, because online media often also assumes that everyone has an unlimited budget for games, and as such, seemingly thinks it safe to spoil stuff mere months after a game's release...
So i watched US last night. The movie was great, but I feel like it had some holes that dampen it. The last minute surprise kind of bugged me too. But the original premise and first couple of surprises were pretty cool.
@ThanosReXXX - Deal. Home turf rules. Your on offense if I’m visiting your football pitch, and I’m on offense if your visiting my football field.
@Tyranexx - I think I’ve said this before, but my typical Zelda anxieties weren’t a problem in BOTW. I knew immediately I wouldn’t 100% it, and it was quite a relief. I just mosied around and did stuff. I only did Korok seeds as I found them, or if I needed to harvest a few for a particular reason. I’m not sure how many I ended up with, but it was plenty for what I needed.
@NintendoByNature - Yeah, I thought Us was good, but not even close in quality to Jordan Peele’s first horror effort in Get Out. I’m super excited to see what he can do with the Candy Man franchise. Should be interesting. He’s a smart guy, and I really enjoyed Get Out.
@Anti-Matter i did'nt know you had an arcade thread, i did'nt know there was any arcade threads at all. i think i searched before but nothing turned up !
@bimmy-lee for sure. It wasn't as good as get out. Gotta rewatch get out again since it's been years. So we did fishing labo today. Assembled and play. I only got a few turns In, but had a good time when I did. The only thing that bugs me is the line gets tangled inside the ocean box very easily. Other than that we all love it. Even my 2.5 year old caught a mackerel or two..
Edit: @Tyranexx I know youre completely filled with games atm, but you might want to check out Owlboy. Feel like it's something you'd like based on the games you typically enjoy.
Finished ALL the outdoor stuff. And the next three days have a 60% chance of rain, score.
I went to the store, got a new pair of shoes and stuff to repair a favorite pair, and three sets of scrubs. I’m changing my work uniform to scrubs while this whole thing is going on. At least I’ll feel comfy.

@ThanosReXXX The reasons I'm often late to the party, besides trying to control the incoming stream of games into my backlog, is primarily due to how I budget as well as my limited personal time these days. I could technically pick up most games day 1 if I wanted, but that doesn't do my wallet or backlog any favors. I prefer to wait on a good sale or discount unless it's a game I absolutely, positively need ASAP like the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. I'll probably end up pre-ordering it, which isn't something I do often.
Funnily enough, I had the opposite problem as a kid; I had all this time in the world but not a lot of income or gift opportunities outside of birthdays and Christmas up until my late high school years. I didn't get much of an allowance, so the importance of saving up for games and other things I wanted was hammered home early.
Ugh, all the spoilers. Most of the random BotW articles around the web assume that you've played the game and aren't shy about spoiling things. I can tolerate having a lot of things at least mildly spoiled outside of the main story of a game, but any story spoilers are in definite NOPE territory. As much as I want to read up on the latest craze, I'm almost afraid some quip in the article or a comment will mess something up for me...
@bimmy-lee It's a game where I've already decided to mostly go with the flow and try not to do my usual planning and completion checklists; doing otherwise will probably drive me insane and make the game more of a chore. I'm perfectly fine with doing that (within reason) on more gated, traditional Zelda titles however. I've made a couple of exceptions so far; that slightly alternate credits scene in ALBW with the giant Cucco (and I really disliked that Cucco game, IIRC it was almost impossible to unlock that changed scene), and I didn't bother with much outside of finishing the main story in TFH as it was just outfit grinding at that point.
@NintendoByNature I've noticed you're playing that one. I might give it a look further down the line. Thanks for the recommendation!
Much luck to you and yours with the latest state announcement BTW (closures of bars and the dine-in areas of restaurants until the end of the month, for those not in the know); I hope it doesn't affect your job much. It heavily affects my parent employer. Barring any new company announcements or adjustments, I'll be on furlough with pay until the 30th starting Tuesday.
@ThanosReXXX I guess just let it go. You tried to help ya know.. he probably misunderstood.
@ @Tyranexx for sure. It's light exploration and combat. Heavy on puzzle solving. The game is very beautiful and pleasing to the eye. The boss battles have been fun (only two so far). The controls are hard to get used to though. It's like a 2d side scrolling zelda since there's dungeons and stuff like that. 2 temples down so far.
@NintendoByNature That's just the thing: he NEVER understands, and I can attribute only so much to his English language skills. And I always tell myself to just not bother anymore, but it's in my nature, being the social, highly empathic person that I am, so even though me and him don't always get along, I don't bear him any ill will, so when I saw him posting a picture of an arcade drum machine, giving him a friendly warning to perhaps leave that alone for the time being, was the first thing that popped into my head.
Chances are he even reported me for "ruining his thread about positive arcade games talk"...
