@ThanosReXXX Not sure if I've typed this before, but good luck on the career switch!
I'm currently in Book 6 of Return of the King. I just started the chapter "Many Partings". So I'm in the resolution phase, though the table of contents and a snippet of info I know from elsewhere tells me I'm still in for a bit of excitement.
Your very long entertainment list sounds like mine. I've lost track of how many movies, books, TV series, and games I'd like to play or try. Either because they're great or so bad that they're worth a look.
We're all human. I try to make good recommendations as well, but I know interests and tastes tend to widely vary. It's something I know quite well, being the odd one out more often than not in my family where interests are concerned.
@NEStalgia Well, with the way modern Disney is going, they will rule most of if not all of the ocean before long....
@NEStalgiaPokemon Sword and Shield are extremely fun games that I truly and completely un-ironically enjoy. Yes, I did say "Pokemon" and "positive" in the same sentence. I absolutely love the games, I think they are the best games in the series in several generations. Better than all the 3DS titles. But not on the level of the DS era. I've had over 260 hours of enjoyment playing them so far. I expect to put a lot move into them once the DLC are out. Shiny hunting, ranked ladder, raid battles, it's been great!
And the executives at Disney are worse than parasites and poisons. Parasites and poisons are dangerous. But they are dangerous like an obstacle in a video game, rather than an enemy. The executives at Disney are malicious. They're trying to establish a monopoly on media. It's why I get nervous any time I see Nintendo and Disney cooperate. On anything. Because Disney is not above buying out Nintendo, and if they could get their evil little paws on Nintendo IP, you can be damned sure they will!
@NEStalgia It's perfectly possible to put "positive" and "Pokémon" in the same sentence, as long as the rest of that sentence, or the text that it's part of, doesn't mention anything about the rabid part of its fan base...
@Tyranexx Ah, indeed. There's some good stuff still ahead of you in that particular part of the story, but I'll let you find out for yourself.
And thanks. I won't go into details yet, but suffice to say I've been working my way through a knowledge base and a truckload of pdf's these last 7-8 weeks, to gain the knowledge I need for the career switch, and come Monday, I need to take a test, based upon that material. It sure has been a bumpy ride, maybe even also partially responsible for my slightly shorter fuse in regards to some things and people in this thread, because it's basically like sitting in a pressure cooker, and if I fail the test... well, I guess you'll get the picture...
@HobbitGamer If ants can chew through the concrete part of reinforced concrete, they'd still have to eat the rebar, which I highly doubt they can.
As for your dislike of unironically: how else should it then have been mentioned in the comments above? Not ironically? Without irony? Irony-less? Irony-free? It doesn't matter all that much, because it all means the same anyway.
On a side note: I'm not quite sure if the comparison you made, holds up in this specific case...
@Heavyarms55 Oh, I agree about SnS. I finished all the gyms but haven't trekked up to the final city yet. After I got the last gym badge I've just been hanging out in the wild area and doing the itnerary of Pokedex recommended catches. I doubt I'll "catch em all", I'm at 250 or so now, but it's the first time I've done anything remotely close to "catching em all" in a looooooong time!
Still, saying "Pokemon" and positive on the internet is like saying "fun" and "acid bath" in the same sentence.
I agree about Disney entirely. I hate any time I actually like anything Disney. People associate it with friendly little Walt's company. Not that it was as friendly as it appeared back then, either. But what it is now, is something that makes petrochemical companies downright friendly in contrast. It's one of the most insidious entities on the planet, and their ambitions run far broader than just media.
@HobbitGamer It's not a useless qualifier. It's a sarcastic qualifier. And sarcasm is never useless. Moreover, it specifies a condition where the inverse is the expected condition. If you were making sweet rolls that almost always require powdered or condensed milk, specifying non-powdered milk would be useful in a recipe if it actually took liquid milk, which would be unusual in its category.
And now for something completely different and actually interesting:
Too bad about the lousy background music and automated voice-over, but still interesting nonetheless.

I found my old short story creation i have written long time ago on my notebook when i was college student. 😗
Well...
This is a story about a young teenager named Royce who has committed crime due to stealing at local mini mart. Actually he could be sent into prison but he has saved by a generous gentleman Mr Edward by his kindness as Royce is still in relative. Since then he is not allowed to go out except to his school and his relatives. Going outside still needs permit from his uncle Mr Hughley and his auntie Mrs. Marguirette. Royce was an orphan since he was young and lived with his uncle & auntie with less affection. Royce was used to be a calm and quiet boy turned into a rebel teen and oftenly caught in trouble by his mischievous.
One day, there was a big parade in the town. Royce's house was very small, located quite far from the town. He wanted to watch the parade but his uncle and auntie were still forbade him to go outside without supervision. Tired by that stupid restriction, Royce went to his room and started to play his favorite music very loud. Unfortunately, his uncle yelled at him to lowering the volume of his music since he was fixing the door. Royce felt frustrated and he decided to look at the sky, imagining the parade at the town until suddenly he got some idea.
His uncle was still fixing the door and he kept hearing the loud music being played from Royce's bedroom. He felt the vibration from the place he worked on. Felt upset due to not listening to him, uncle Hughley ran to Royce's bedroom and he found Royce has escaped from the house. He found also his truck has been carried by Royce with the key as well. He told to his wife about Royce's escape. Before they were about to find Royce, they felt and saw a tremor that shaking their house. They already felt the sign of earthquake.
Felt excited to be free from his uncle and auntie, Royce drove the truck to the town without driving licence and still have managed to get into the parade. He saw the caravan parade with a lot of fancy vehicles moving slowly. Suddenly, someone stole his wallet while Royce watching the parade. Royce chased a young boy who stole his wallet. Alas, he lost the boy and with the truck key. Felt upset, he decided to visit some shops nearby to browse something interesting. But as he visited the last shop, he felt the tremor from and he saw the sign of earthquake. Not for long, peoples got panic and ran to escape from the shop. Royce was confused during the tremor until suddenly he tried to grab the things inside the shop while the peoples and the shop owner flee from the building. Royce stole some things from the shop and before he went out from the shop, there was an old woman cried for help due to stuck in the ruins. Royce stopped his step, felt between want to keep the stolen stuffs from the shop or save that old woman. He decided to save that old woman and thrown away his stolen stuffs at the last second. The old woman could be saved but before Royce was about to escape from the building, the ruins has fallen on him.
The town has scattered away into mass panic due to earthquake. After 1 hour, the reporters came to the town to broadcast the breaking news. Uncle Hughley and Auntie Marguirette has managed to arrive in town and found the town has turned into mass destruction. By the time they have arrived at the town, there was a news from TV shop about the earthquake victims has been evacuated from the ruins. Auntie Marguirette was watching the news until suddenly she was shocked and felt in grief to see Royce has founded dead from the ruins.
@bimmy-lee
What do you think about my short story creation ?
@HobbitGamer Unless someone has a pathological fear of rodents as mice did get in there, it really wasn't a house of horrors. Until you get up to my dad's "organized mess" that is. Mom will probably order a dumpster whenever my parents move. XD
...There was an established beehive under part of the south side at one point, at about ground level. The floor is still a bit spongy there where I'm sure some old honeycomb still exists. The bees moved out of their own accord. I used to like watching them. I'd legit sit a couple feet from the entrance and watch their comings and goings.
@ThanosReXXX I didn't get a chance to read last night, but I should dig back into the book this evening. I actually don't have anything going on for a change.
Sounds like you're trying to go for a certification or license of sorts. I know those can be pretty demanding and require a lot of studying along with a fair amount of stress. Again, best of luck to you! I'd be interested in more details when/if you choose to disclose them.

@NEStalgia My friend the other day said “I unironically want to see the Sonic movie”. That makes no sense. That’s operating from a standpoint that the majority of viewers are only seeing the movie out of irony. In these instances, if a person really needed a qualifier for statements made in, they could use the word ‘genuine’. Still, that’s operating from the assumption that everyone firstly says things they don’t mean with the words they use.
Today’s speech is stupid. I stand by my frustration.

@Tyranexx Thanks, and yes, that's what it is: a certificate, that I need in order to be able to work in the industry/sector that I've chosen to switch to. Here's hoping I succeed, because right now, my head is overflowing from the information input (or rather: over-abundance) and even after all these weeks, it doesn't really feel like I'm getting a clear grip on it just yet, so this week is going to remain stressful.
@HobbitGamer I unironically literally like no. I mean, it's not even!
My assumption there is that, well, the Sonic movie looks bad. Even if it's ok, it looks bad. The starting assumption, especially given the Sonic fanbase and its history, is that saying you want to see it is a joke. An irony. Thus "unironically" wanting to see it is a synonym for "genuinely" wanting to see it.
Use of "ironically/unironically" is (ironically) used as a tongue in cheek play against the hipster stereotype who does contradictory things "ironically" (in their own words) (otherwise known as desperate pleas for attention.) It's a cliche, if real, stereotype being characterized by related word abuse.
I believe young adults like to call these "mimis" or something.
@ThanosReXXX I can definitely sympathize on information overload; it's something I frequently deal with in my own job, depending on the day. Especially if I'm trying to learn something new. Brain saturation, IMO, is way more exhausting than physical labor.
If you need to take some time away for studying, I'm sure there will be no qualms about that.

@Tyranexx Well, I usually use this forum as an outlet, to blow off some steam and relax, so for me it works the other way around. All study and no play makes for a VERY grumpy ThanosReXXX...

@NEStalgia What, for me being grumpy? I meant that I'd become WAY more grumpy if I didn't have this forum as an outlet, so I literally NEED to have it as a way to relax a bit, in the evening, after my daily studies and brain-racking sessions...
