@NintendoByNature Probably a typo. I'm more apt to make them when I visit the site on my phone. Some of that is because autocorrect can be a huge troll. XD It corrects half of my contractions with I (I am, I will, etc.) to just I for some infuriating reason.

it's always weird to me that people on the internet are still teenagers.

Like I just assume everyone I talk to online is in their 20s, 30s at most. That's obviously not true but that's my automatic assumption. Not entirely sure why, maybe because when I first went on internet forums, I was a teenager and I knew a lot of people on those forums were teenagers. But internet forums are kinda outdated nowadays. And by outdated, I mean replaced by vastly worst things, but y'know...

Like is that a thing, that you just assume that people online are largely similar to you until proven otherwise?

Well, be proud of belonging to a community where little 13 year old Timmy (who is actually 8 and lied to create his account) can talk with old grandma Gertrude about how much her gaming setup sucks.

@kkslider5552000 : More or less. We know almost nothing about each other, and only the minority disclose their social media accounts for the snoopy busybody aunties among us.

I do occasionally check the nationalities of users if they have a query and their nationality may be of relevance. It also helps provide some context if one tends to communicate in a way uncommon to native English speakers and/or if they possess odd sensitivities.

@Tyranexx Thanks for giving me the scoop. I don’t think anyone expects a used console to be “like new” but there should be a standard for what is acceptable. I would’ve done the same thing. It is a portable console after all, and not just a distant box under your TV.

@NEStalgia I wouldn’t expect things to ever be quite the same again, but I’m not sure about a Sci-fi dystopian purge either. I think things generally reach a breaking point and gets leveled out through popular dissent before that could happen. Not saying some individuals realities aren’t already dysfunctional, but there is only so much a general populace can take before the major problems become too much to bear. Change is just a slow historical process.

@NintendoByNature Nice dude! Have fun with that crazy game.

Hope you feel better. Hate feeling groggy and low energy like that while having to work.

@Tyranexx Oh, we have those avenues of excessive light over here, but they're only on the freeways, seeing as that's a place where you'll more likely need it than in the average meandering city street...

Good joke about the MadWorld typo. I also noticed it, but seeing as @NintendoByNature was already feeling under the weather, I didn't want to make him feel even worse.

@NintendoByNature So, using chemicals to get rid of the disease, huh? I normally just use mother nature.
Take a coffee/tea mug, squeeze the juice of one lemon into it, then add boiling water, until it's half full. Sweeten with honey, or if you don't like that, plain sugar or other sweeteners. And take some aspirin or Vicodin along with it.

Usually helps me to get rid of most of any cold or flue symptoms within the space of a week. And if you're airways are completely clogged up, then simply steaming with hot water might help. Pour boiling water into a bowl, and hang your head over that, covered by a towel, so that the steam can't escape. do that for about 10 minutes every night before going to bed.

Another one of grandmother's cures, albeit one I never use but it can help, is to put half an onion on a small plate on the night stand beside your bed. The sharpness of the onion will ultimately unclog your nose and throat. Of course, your bedroom will smell like onion, and if you don't like onion, then that's another strike against it, but it's an option.

I'd say just go with the hot lemon drink and steaming, and you'll at least feel somewhat better relatively soon.

@NotTelevision Precisely. That experience taught me to still give used systems a chance as the previous owner might have taken good care of it, but not to trust refurbs (at least with Nintendo systems) unless they're directly from The Big N.

The wax buildup issue wasn't caught by me at first, so I had a couple of GBA cartridges that would occasionally stick on their own before I gave the pins a good cleaning.

@kkslider5552000 I find that's one of the most annoying things of the internet: loss of respect. There's kids talking to adults like they went to school with them, showing no respect or courtesy whatsoever, and that's mainly due to the anonymity and there being no filter, so you can just fling whatever crap you want onto the web, because you don't have to suffer any consequences, nor do you have to take into account how it affects others.

And of course, a lot of people are posing, so you'll never really know if they're preteens, teens or actual adults, so it's not all that weird that we sometimes tend to mistake people's ages, or assume they are what they actually aren't. And there's also some that have a knack for writing a bit more intelligently, which might also be causing confusion about their age.

All in all, online communication can both be confusing and wonderful at the same time. Too bad that it also comes with all crap that we see nowadays, but eh... what can you do, right?

@ThanosReXXX - I’ve put a lot of color into my place. It makes me happy, and the rest of my family seems to enjoy it as well. I’ve done a LOT of painting here, and still have some left to go. Probably 80% of what I’ve done has been neutral (two different greys or white), but the remaining accent walls and all the doors are pretty colorful. The accent wall in my sons room has nine colors on it. He has the most so far.

I’d say my single greatest joy of renting was the ability to call my property manager and have someone else fix and pay for things that break or wear out. I assume it’s this way for you as well? It sounds like you have the necessities covered for general maintenance, as well as some specialty tools and items for hobbies and interests.

@Tyranexx - Wow, my daughter watched that movie yesterday, and I sat down for that exact scene. I’ve never seen it beginning to end, but I think I’ve seen or heard the whole movie in bits and pieces. That’s my favorite scene for sure. My daughter’s favorite scene is when Rafiki goes full on Bruce Lee and just whips tail on a whole gang of hyenas. That’s a nice way you put it there about the night sky. I remember looking up and eventually getting dizzy as a kid when that wrap around sensation is realized.

@kkslider5552000 - It’s funny to read that because my default assumption is that I’m not only communicating with someone my own age, but that I’m also communicating with another me who understands EXactly what I mean every time I type. I have to actually remind myself that I’m not conversing with me. I’ve always assumed it’s because I’ve never had much use for social media, and NL is the only place I’ve ever read comments, created an account, and posted messages on forums. I kind of assumed this this weird thought process would straighten out over time, but it hasn’t much. Seems really vain.

@ThanosReXXX I've always equated well-lit avenues to freeways like you mentioned, or else areas that experience high foot traffic like a shopping district.

On the joke: Thanks! I try my best, though my dry sense of humor and puns (when I come up with something) aren't for everyone.

@bimmy-lee Yeah, that works the same here as well. Last year, my shower tap was replaced, as well as a new flushing mechanism and water reservoir for my toilet, and also one of my sliding glass doors on my balcony. All on the bill of the rental company, even though that door was kinda my own fault...

And yes, what I've got in tools is purely for the small and necessary stuff, for the rest I've got the aid of the aforementioned family and friends.

@Tyranexx I actually did consider making a joke, but I couldn't decide between an Apple joke or a McDonald's one, and because of the earlier mentioned reason, I decided to just leave it. And the McDonald's joke probably wouldn't have been good anyways.

By the way, I actually do like dry humor, so feel free to put in the odd joke whenever applicable.

Any of you heard of Gardenscapes?

I have it on 3DS and there it's a fairly standard hidden object search game with a side element where you buy upgrades for a garden.

But lately every ad I see for the mobile version of the game looks weird and makes very little sense with what the game I played was about (for example I saw one where the butler character was in some kind of death trap). Even the pictures of the app stores have very little in common what the game looks like on the 3ds.

It's so weird. I wonder what happened there.

@ThanosReXXX took your advice. Slugging down a big 16oz mug with 2 tea packets and 1 squeezed lemon. I usually do stuff like that. Guess it slipped me this time 😉
