@bimmy-lee bahah, that actually sounds just as funny, if not funnier. Random guy walking by "come on in, my mom's making pigs in a blanket. You'll absolutely love it! Don't worry ill explain the details once you walk into this random house I live in." I'd watch a YouTube clip of that.
I did something similar, but ended up just leaving with a neighbor we really didn't know. She was walking a dog, and I really liked how cool it looked. I was maybe 4 or 5. I said "Hey, can i take a walk with you and your dog?" She replied, "if your mom says its ok." So I waltzed into the house and asked my mom, who said no since we didn't know them that well. I came out and said to the lady. "She said Yes, let's roll on out!" 2 hours later, cops were called, And my neighbors ended up having a little search party for me. We got back and the lady got yelled at by my mom for not asking the parent herself. I of course got yelled at too, and learned a valuable lesson that day. No dog is worth lying for 😉
@Tyranexx Stunt training at my age? Nah, I should probably stay away from injuring myself on purpose, seeing as I'm already getting more than my share doing it by accident...
@bimmy-lee Yup, every damn move I make, hurts. But after a week, you kinda get used to it, and you're able to bear the pain better. Well, either that, or you're simply more mentally prepared for the pain spikes or something.
There's not going to be any B&C this weekend. Going to my sister's place tonight, because she and my brother in law are having a dual birthday party. (that's a thing over here nowadays. Share birthdays, so you don't have to go some place twice or more) My sister's actual birthday is on the tenth, and my brother in law's was in January, but we've got so many birthdays in these two months, that we often switch the dates on which they are celebrated. And of course always in the weekends, because understandably, nobody wants to have a party on a week day.
Anyway, there'll be enough beer and food, and people over there, to keep my mind off of it. Then again: we as a family like to tell funny stories and laugh a lot during parties, so that could become somewhat of an issue tonight. I'd better tighten up that brace a bit more than usual...
On a side note: Ninfan hasn't played both games. He played Viewtiful Joe, but only watched a couple of videos from The Wonderful 101, so you're absolutely right. No way that the two compare, other than being made by some of the same people, so all they share is some of the same quirkiness, which is so specific to PlatinumGames, even when they were still working under the Clover Studios label (which is when they made Viewtiful Joe).
@NEStalgia It's okay, my friend. Laugh away. Unlike some uber-sensitive individual on here, I can actually take a joke. I'd be laughing too if I were you, and it was a really stupid accident. Even my old man said that this could have only happened to one person, especially with it being the exact same rib and all...
@NintendoByNature Thanks. Just a couple more weeks, and I'll be fine again. Just gotta weather the storm a bit, but I'll manage, much like you with trying not to succumb to the Baby Shark onslaught...
P.S.
You should absolutely get MadWorld for that price. It's an hilariously over the top game, and the all black & white graphics with subtly colored accents/highlights here and there, give the whole of it a really cool, artful vibe. It's a living comic strip, basically.
@Ninfan Watching videos of it and deciding based upon that is hardly fair to the game. It has a specific "feel" when you play it, that makes all the things you do/must do in the game click in that specific, unique PlatinumGames way, and that doesn't really come across at all when watching gameplay videos of it.
And it most certainly isn't a copy of Viewtiful Joe, nor did it try to be one. There's none of the things in it that made Viewtiful Joe the game that it was, so that's complete nonsense. Oh, and it doesn't play as Pikmin either. I can understand people might get that impression from the videos, because you're gathering up people to form a group, but The Wonderful 101 is an action adventure game, whereas Pikmin is an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game. They share certain elements of each other, but they're completely different besides that. One difference is that in The Wonderful 101 you're actually part of the group you're controlling, whereas in Pikmin, you're outside of that group, managing them to do things, so that's already a difference, albeit a minor one.
P.S.
VC is Virtual Console...
And you should probably replace "dear" with expensive, the next time you want to use that word. Nobody says dear to something that costs a lot of money. At least not anybody on here, so that's either local dialect or really old English. Most people would probably interpret "dear" as "darling", so that might make you understand understand why using that word in this context raises some eyebrows here or there...
@kkslider5552000 As a fellow Wii appreciator, I'm very much looking forward to your Wii essay, so be sure to put a link to it in the Chit-Chat thread when you've written it.
@ThanosReXXX all that means is that in the recovering weeks, the more alcohol you should consume to dampen the pain. A rum n coke aught to do you good 😉. Unless it's against Drs orders of course. Good to know about Madworld. It's now in the Amazon cart. If my wife doesn't get the hint, I'll grab it soon.
@Ninfan I can see how one might get some Pikmin vibes from it. There's some common essence to it, but it doesn't really play similarly otherwise. Pikmin controls directly, 101 controls more indirectly with gestures (think Okami, also made by Kamiya.). Pikmin is a map control strategic game. 101 is forward progression action with zones like DMC and Bayonetta.
@NintendoByNature - Oh man, a call to the cops & a neighborhood search party is epic! And the whole time you were just hanging out with a lady and her dog. I’d be scared to death to take the neighbor kid along for a walk in 2020. Seems like there’s a 33.3% chance it ends with me getting tased just because, and there’s an Apple news headline being written while I’m still in the ground wondering what just happened.
@ThanosReXXX - Well, let’s make sure you don’t get an extra vigorous hug from a relative. Keep your arms down low if anyone does come in for a hug. Be the underarm hugger at all costs. Can’t let anyone get in there tight on the torso and squeeze. I’m at the point with Viewtiful Joe that I open the eShop every Thursday hoping some indie has ripped it off and published something just like it. Like NES, I had issues with some of the inputs in 101. I hope we get a bevy of control options for the Switch.
@NintendoByNature Nah, not against doctor's orders. Didn't even go there this time, because there's so little they can do about rib injuries anyway. I'll have my fair share of beer tonight, and next week, it's back to Bacardi & Coke again.
@bimmy-lee Good tip. I'll try to keep that in mind, although with the brace on, it isn't all that bad.
As for Wonderful 101: I can agree to some extent with you and NES concerning the controls, and on the Wii U it didn't always work as it should, but it was still an enjoyable game regardless.
@Heavyarms55 Cool. Maybe I’ll fly in there next time go back to the US. Stayed in Tokyo for about 3 days a couple years ago, but that’s all. The amount of luggage I had prevented me from venturing to other cities.
@ThanosReXXX Agree with you about needing to play a game like that to judge it properly, especially some of Platinum’s stuff. The Wonderful 101 looks like pure chaos in the gameplay footage I saw, but I’m sure it feels like a legible combat system when you are playing it.
@Heavyarms55 yes I ment do you have to pay a lot of money for products in japan. I heard a couple of people saying you have to pay nearly €100 for just a bag of chips ?

I don’t know what those ‘couple of people’ have been consuming, but a bag of chips in Japan does not cost 1/3 the price of a Switch, I’m sure.

@Heavyarms55 Barring the crowds, Osaka really does sound like a cool place! I wish we had that many themed cafes here, pop-up and permanent. Granted, if such a thing does exist in the Midwest, I'd still have to drive pretty far for it. The closest major city is only a couple hours away, but it's not one of the more popular ones for most events.
@NintendoByNature Thanks! This kid was on his way to school earlier this week, lost control of his vehicle (I'm unsure how, but it's easy to get pulled into the ditch by a lot of loose gravel in some areas of where I grew up), and hit part of a guardrail on a small bridge head-on. It speared the front of his vehicle, thankfully he was wearing a seatbelt. He has several broken ribs and likely some broken bones in his arm, but his right leg is by far the most messed up; they've had to amputate it up to the knee because of the shape it was in, but thankfully not past that. He's currently in a medically induced coma at a regional hospital. The good news is he's expected to live, but he has a long road ahead of him. The support from the community and surrounding ones that I grew up in has been amazing.
@ThanosReXXX I'm glad that you take jokes well, my friend. Just inform me if I ever go too far, though I'm usually pretty good (in my humble opinion) at understanding where the line is with most folks. The more I know or have spoken with someone, the better. Like giving my sister an ornery rib about her current boyfriend every now and again.... XD
I've heard a thing or two about Madworld, but have never played that one or seen any footage. Sounds like an intriguing game, though hack 'n slash titles have always been a bit hit or miss for me.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Tyranexx I'm really sorry to hear that. And i feel terrible for him. It's one thing to get into an accident and have some broken bones, but it's a whole other thing if something has to be amputated. I feel for him, and wish him the best.
@NintendoByNature Thank you. He's been on my mind a lot lately. I don't know him too well, but he was one of those kids younger than me that you'd see every now and again during school hours. I think what'll be the most devastating for him is adjusting to a prosthetic leg and the fact that he can't play in sports for a little while. He was just in a basketball tourney a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, the amputation was necessary to allow him a better chance to heal. There was even talk that they'd have to remove more than the lower half of his leg, but thankfully that won't be the case. They're now supposed to operate on his right femur and hip early next week as those are broken.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@NotTelevision Yeah, I suppose it does look a bit chaotic in footage, and even when playing it, it can be hectic sometimes, but second hand experiences through watching gameplay just don't compare with actually playing it.
@NintendoByNature Well, by default, there's little beer in my fridge, unless it's summer. At home, I usually drink Bacardi & Coke, but when visiting people, I'm not one of those snobby types, that expects my hosts to cater to my specific needs, so I just drink beer when out and about, also because it's cheaper. And when I do, it's usually Heineken. Dutch beer is pretty good, after all. But my taste in beers is pretty broad, so you can also do me a favor with a Bud, Fosters (Australian beer), Tuborg (Danish beer), Corona (Mexican beer), Carlsberg or Löwenbrau (German beer), Palm (Belgian beer) and plenty more.
@Tyranexx My "line" so to speak, is very broad, and as you happen to be a person of the opposite sex, you're in the lucky position of me extending that particular part of the population an added bit of leeway concerning how far they can go. And trust me: you'll know when you went too far with me, because I won't be squeamish about letting you know, so thus far, you haven't even begun to tap into my bad side...
So, no need to be humble, because you've been on point with sensing how far you can go, so you've never crossed the line so far.
Sorry to hear about your relative. I'm not a religious person, so I'll just be sending some good vibes your way for support, and in hopes of a speedy recovery.
As for MadWorld: trust me, it's one of the best games on the Wii, if not a must have, because of its uniqueness. If you can get your hands on it for a good price, like @NintendoByNature, then get it, you won't regret it. And it isn't necessarily a hack and slash, it's more of a free-roaming 3D fighter, with a decidedly arcadey story line. Ridiculous in fact, but so ridiculous that it becomes good again. Of all the people that I know that have played it, there's VERY few, if any, that didn't enjoy it.
I'll just put up a couple of (nice and short) videos (so they won't take up too much of your time) for you and @NintendoByNature, to show you why every Wii owner should want to own this game:
@Ninfan What? What country did those people visit?! Not Japan I can tell you that! On average most things in Japan are near US prices. Meat and dairy are maybe 5-10% more because Japan has to import most of it. Not much room for grazing cattle here.

@ThanosReXXX I'm not a beer snob myself. Ill drink mostly anything if it's ice cold.
Madworld: feel like I need a shower after those trailers lol. Looks really good though. And is it me or does the main character look eerily similar to hellboy? I checked out how long to beat and it says about 5-6 hours which is perfect considering im drowning in games. Ill probabaly check this out after all. Ill more than likely grab it next week.
