@NintendoByNature Glad you made the right choice for you. Before, when you made several comments and gave updates about the developments so far, I already had a feeling that saying no would be the right thing, but it wasn't my or anyone else's place to tell you, so you had to make that decision for yourself, so all I did was slightly nudge/trigger here and there. If you re-read my sentiments on your story knowing what you know now, you'll understand...
@hobbitgamer Thanks my Man! @StableInvadeel you dont know me, it's really their gain. I wouldve been on the road playing links awakening and lm3 the whole time anyway 😉. Obviously joking lol @Thanosrexxx Yea thanks dude. The 2 pros were big ones ( more money and room for growth). I did want more than what they were offering though due the travel and leaving the fam 6-8 nights a month. But the cons were far worse. Plus they called me at 2pm yesterday with the counter and said they needed to know by 4pm if I would accept. No thanks, its a big decision and i can't decide on a moments notice.
@NintendoByNature Well, that makes it sound even more like you made the right decision, because if they REALLY wanted you, then they would have given you some more time. In this case, however, it was them who played the "it's your loss if you don't accept this" card, and they definitely made the wrong bet.
But it's a learning moment, for both parties actually, and there's always something positive to take away from it. So, I say: onwards to even better things, good sir.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@ThanosReXXX I agree for sure. Both my wife and brother said dont be surprised if i get a call Monday coming back with another offer. Either way though, this kind of makes me want to send out my resume to see what's out there.
@NintendoByNature If you're not thinking this yourself already, then I'd advise you to consider this a ship that has sailed. There were several things that were off, like you also felt, so if they now back-pedal or succumb to your counter offer, then that's not a voluntary act, and will always leave room for doubt.
Pro tip: I don't know if you already have a LinkedIn account, but if not make one, and whether you already have an account or still have to make one, make sure that the option that shows that you're available for offers is switched on/checked. Just wait and see what happens...
@NintendoByNature - Yeah, I had a lot of fun for a long time in that league. It’s all old friends, it’s been going since the late 90s, we usually found a way to have a live draft, and I wanted in for years before I finally got a spot. Had a good run, but sometime around four or five years ago, it just became more frustrating than fun. I cut down to just this league at that point, but I eventually just had face the facts and bail. Someone took my spot, and now they don’t have to worry about me taking their money anymore. I was the league villain, and a stone cold killer on the message boards. I cut up more people than Dexter. It honestly feels like a burden has been lifted though. I didn’t even realize how much time I devoted to fantasy and point spreads. Not a big deal before kids, but now my time is a premium.
Congratulations on declining the offer. The flaccid two hour power play is a “no thanks” from me. Great experience though. You’ve been self deprecating, but I know you’re valuable, and it’s good to see you not sell yourself short. Good luck with the search.
@bimmy-lee yea i hear you. Sometimes i wonder if it's worth to keep playing. But i recently stopped playing softball which was something i did for 12 years with the guys. So if I stopped fantasy, that's pretty much me cutting off the guys completely. Who knows maybe 1 day
Tomorrow i'll apply to hopefully become a (bootleg) Jason Voorhees, wouldn't mind playing that part since I didn't study for the test Mr. Krabs, so no having to remember words, just gotta remember that's how i'll be able to not carry two devices while i'm out. Would probably get a phone from last year since those always drop in price once the new one revs up.
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
@bimmy-leeUntitled Goose Game needs a VR mode if it doesn't have one already. Then it really WOULD be a fear simulator for your kids.
The character I play is a pretty fun one, really off-the-wall. I can do some pretty interesting things to my face effect-wise; our haunt doesn't use too many masks and tends to rely on makeup and other effects since human faces are more expressive. One of the best things with this role is that I don't have to do anything with my hands (unlike in previous years) since they're hidden. I've been able to avoid using spray blood; the stuff stains and takes a couple of days to completely wash/wear off.
I joke that the side job is one of the things keeping me out of the actual loony bin. XD It's a good way to de-stress since your job (besides getting a rush from terrifying someone) is to entertain; how many jobs allow you to yell and heckle customers? Within the rules, of course.
@ThanosReXXX Yeesh, some of that was hard to read through. Kind of reminds me of something I ran across earlier:
The best I can make out is that somehow the Evercade = Switch Lite to that user. A mistake was one thing, but I clearly AM missing some context since I didn't entirely follow what I was reading. The original thread was one thing, but dragging you up without warning elsewhere was uncalled for.
Ah, upon reading, seems like some modding was the culprit. That's answered.
I'd move on and cheer yourself up with a nice brew or two. Or some pain relievers to cure the heavy headdesking that I'm sure went on....
@NintendoByNature Thanks for the update! I think I'm in agreement with everyone else....There were some red flags there. It sounds like the cons outweigh the pros in your book, particularly with the higher-up guy who I feel acted unprofessionally. A big decision like that also warrants more than two hours of deliberation in my humble opinion.
You've determined that the previous shoe didn't quite fit and decided to stick with your own. That said, if you're curious, there's no harm in continuing to look!
(Apologies if some of this is a bit incoherent; my Saturday has been nuts. My brain is running on fumes right now. X_X )
@BruceCM Oh no, we'll never see wormholes as a means of travel in our lifetime, it is just that, based on our understanding of physics in general, they are theoretically possible. However FTL is not. The speed of light is a hard limit, we can't break it.

Probably never, @Heavyarms55 .... Hasn't all the research & everything been looking into that & other variations of ways around the light speed limit?
Standard methods of propulsion aren't in any danger of getting craft anywhere near that, anyway
@BruceCM From most of the research I have read the current thinking is that any potential ways around the universal speed limit involve worm holes, which you can think of as cheating as they provide a shorter path between two points than a straight line.
The idea behind a warp drive is also effectively cheating because it bends space time itself to create a shorter path between two points. But nothing known that humans could possibly manipulate could do such a thing. Only super massive objects like black holes have that sort of effect on space.
Quantum mechanics is being looked at as a way to send information faster than the speed of light. Scientists have discovered some quantum particles can be manipulated in such a way that moving one moves the other in the same way and appears to do so at the exact same time - but at least from what I read they were not at all sure how or why. Not yet at least. Quantum mechanics might end up revolutionizing our understanding of the natural world if we could come to understand how it really works.

Yeah, that is a big IF, @Heavyarms55 .... While there's certainly no guarantee that'll help with spaceships, although it might be possible At the moment, after decades of it, there's really not much progress in long-distance space-travel So, it's certainly possible there never will be anything like any science-fiction depicts
@SheldonRandoms - Blow everyone’s minds and be Jason X. Metal space Jason! People will be terrified.
@Tyranexx - I think makeup is always scarier than masks when feasible. In a way, your character is one of the scariest because it could be real. It could be any of us one day, who knows? A certain chain of events. You’re right, people are paying you to scare and yell at them! That’s incredible.
@Anti-Matter - Yes, you’re thinking of the right game. Untitled Goose Game is the puzzler where you go around as a goose and cause mischief. It kind of looks like a children’s book. Looks really fun, something you could enjoy, but I don’t know if it’s getting a physical release. If it does, it will probably be limited.
@Tyranexx yea something just felt off. It was still a hard decision but the fact that I had 2 hours to seal the deal made it an easy decision. No apologies needed. Its been a long week for me too 😉
@BruceCM Nope, that I don't believe. While it is likely that we will never have a way around the speed of light, I fully believe that we will eventually develop and fully exploit our own solar system. The only thing that may keep us from achieving that is if we destroy ourselves before reaching that point. You say "after decades of it" but in reality space programs have received only a tiny fraction of the effort other endeavors have. If we (and by that I mean people in general) spent even 10% on space technological development what we spend on so-called "defense" spending then space programs would find themselves exploding with improvement.
Humanity has no future if we do not work to develop beyond our own biosphere. Whether that be by long term terraforming projects on Mars, orbital cities like O'Neil Cylinders, or underground settlements on Luna, Mars, Ceres or Ganymede it's hard to say now, what route humanity will take. But we will either have to develop our solar system, or drown in our own over population, or destroy ourselves. Those are the only futures humanity has to choose from.
Unless someone or something wants to come by and answer the Fermi Paradox for us.
@bimmy-lee
I really hope some indie developers will consider the physical release at least after 1 year sales from eshop even being published by LRG or SRG with limited copies (And it will be exploited by the scalpers and sold on Ebay with insane prices)
Some examples are Earthlock, 99Vidas, Yono the Celestial Elephant (still no confirmation it will be released in physical by SRG / LRG or by normally like other Switch games)
