I swear I am so embarrassed to be a gamer sometimes. The comment section over the dialogue change for FE3H is a dumpster fire. And the people that are the loudest have no idea what they are talking about. "Rar censorship, snowflakes, and don't judge voice actors!" (do people not work for companies? Every company tries to distance itself from controversy because that impacts their reputation and thus sales/consumer good will. full stop.) And the text change takes out the added junk the localization team added. (is it "censorship" when your translation is wrong/has added text from the start?!) I feel like the definitions of censorship and free speech have been twisted into some macabre corpse pieced together out of impotent outrage, cruelty and deliberate ignorance.

I was trying not to weigh in because I don't consider myself translator level yet but I had to jump in since none of our Japanese regulars have posted yet.

People exhaust me.

I admit I kinda love how they just more or less assume the change must have been done as censorship in response to some sort of mysterious Schrödinger's controversy nobody really knows about.

@bimmy-lee I just start screaming in my head "Does nobody have to take a civics class anymore? They explain this to you in elementary school!" but agreed, for all the yelling about "fake news" I think people have "fake reality" (as in many of those people ready to dismiss a journalist have absolutely no facts to dispute it with...just a lot of emotion. Banging on the table doesn't make you more correct.) I try very, very hard to stay out of that stuff because A) gaming website...I'm here to talk about the house of Mario. B)bits of text on a website are no way to have a coherent, factual conversation imo C) it's like talking to a wall anyway. D) not worth the energy I can use to play games. Or do anything else really.

Yeah, the whole thing gave me a chuckle. I figure it’s to make the localization more in line with the original language. Plus, I don’t care. It’s still an awesome game to me.

@Ryu_Niiyama - Yeah, FOS seems to have been co opted as a secret phrase to a club I don’t want to join. Even outside of gaming, and without getting into politics; it’s starting to sound like a dog whistle. It seems to mean a lot more that what it is to large groups of people.

I was a big streets of rage fan in my youth so this seems alot like it. I'll hop on tonight around 9 or so. Just let me know.

I'm surprised so many people are getting bent out of shape over that translation change. It's so insignificant and thus doesn't bother me. Plus, if it's closer to the Japanese translation, I don't see how people can cry about censorship.

As for switching out the male protagonist's voice, it doesn't matter what I think. It's ultimately Nintendo's decision on what happens there. If they want to switch it out to avoid controversy, that's their call. Besides, I'll be playing (and always was planning to) as the female protagonist in FE3H anyway.

@HobbitGamer Yep, that would've been an interesting exchange to see! I think adding some Hobbit flavoring there made it more entertaining. XD I probably shouldn't explain what context I read OP's words in....

I'll probably get DXM at some point, but it's something I'm content to wait on. I'd kinda like a Switch first. (Probably near the holidays at this point)

@NintendoByNature I've heard of Statesville but haven't been. I've been to a couple of downstate ones besides our haunt. The problem with down here is that they're spread out more. I need to head up more towards your way (kinda) sometime and do the Bartonville Insane Asylum/Haunted Infirmary. That one is supposed to be pretty good.

@bimmy-lee Ooooh yes, and some of the reactions are amazingly worth it! The best groups are the screamers and the weenie guys who use their girlfriends as meat shields. How manly.... My character may change a little, but let's say I'm... institutionalized.

I think you should introduce your kids to Untitled Goose Game. Not sure if that'll help or hinder that phobia. XD

@HobbitGamer ok no problem. @StableInvadeel it's on the snes app if you have it. @Tyranexx I don't think I have the joycons to hit Statesville. I hear it's pretty hardcore. And if you're claustrophobic it's a no no which I have a severe case of it.

@NintendoByNature I see....I don't do well in very tight spaces either, at least when there are other bodies. Might have to give that one a pass then. XD I can take pretty much any scare, but compressed personal space is another thing entirely.

@BruceCM FTL never will. But wormholes are entirely possible in physics as it is currently understood. Though any sort of artificial wormholes are probably far beyond human capacity.

I think i will dust away my LABO 01 Variety kits after long hiatus for almost 1 year. 😅
I have to think how to customize my LABO 01 to be played in handheld / Tabletop mode without carrying the cardboards in public. 🤔
