@ThanosReXXX - It’s something I considered with the WiiU, but opted for physical there for the big games. I knew I was doing all digital the moment Karen introduced me to Switch. It just seems like the perfect setup to have every game at my fingertips. You know I play the old stuff cart and console, but I kind of got disenchanted with physical by ‘06 when all that really amounted to anymore was a disc in a plastic case with a few slips of paper. At that point, I’d rather just save the physical space, have everything on memory, and hope nothing ever happens.

@bimmy-lee In '06 already, huh? Oh well, we all have our preferences, I guess. You've probably already seen me mentioning this, but for me, it's about ownership. Whatever is or isn't in the box doesn't bother me in the slightest. Those manuals are only ever read once, if at all, since I like/prefer to discover things for myself in games (and nowadays, most games have tutorials aplenty anyway), so for me it was definitely never about there being less in the box or DVD case, which might possibly make digital more interesting.

And in Nintendo's case, prices for digital are often the same as for physical, which is both archaic and odd, seeing as there are definitely more costs involved with physical. And the longer you wait, physical goes down in price more and more, whereas digital largely stays the same, save for the odd limited period discount a couple of times a year, but those are often only for a select number of titles.

The not having control over the content, and not having any certainty of continuity in the future is what kills almost any and all desire for digital-only for me, so I'll only buy digital if I really, REALLY want the game, and there's literally no other option than digital.

And not to step on your toes, but hope in that respect is a nice idea, although much like trust, it's kinda misplaced, especially in this context. As my mentor used to say: trust is good, control is better.

P.S.

Karen?

@ThanosReXXX - Ha, Karen is the young hipster lady who introduced us to the Switch by playing Odyssey at home, then taking her Switch on the go for a rooftop party multiplayer in the introductory video a couple years ago.

I hear you on the ownership aspect. It does still feel a bit strange to have everything on a digital account as opposed to a shelf full of game cases, and maybe I’ll switch back to physical if/when Nintendo ever makes a dedicated home console again; but with Switch, it’s just really fun for me to have everything a tap away, and I play docked 90% of the time.

I’ve sort of just come to consider Nintendo’s absurd pricing as part of the Nintendo Difference. In a way, their near refusal to cut price on anything, anytime, ever is what adds value to our older collections. I’ve done well with indies in the eShop, getting most of them on sale, but I’ve paid full price on all my first party games.

Also, I never sell or trade in games, so that aspect of digital only hasn’t been an issue for me.

Anti-Matter

Today is Sunday 11 August 2019, also a celebration of Eid-ul-Adha / Feast of Sacrifice day where Moslems will pray together in the morning and after that they will butcher the oxes / goats for feeding a lot of peoples by the meats or the gizzards.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@bimmy-lee Heck, I'll still watch Homeward Bound these days if I have the time to sit down for it. I loved animals as a kid and still love them, so them "talking" was quite novel for me at the time.

I grew out of Barney pretty fast, but I took my Barney and Baby Bop plushies everywhere I could.

@Nintendobynature Thanks for the kitty updates! Glad that the wrangling seems to be going pretty well. I hope the kittens are at least somewhat friendly.

@ThanosReXXX First of all: welcome back! I was wondering where you drifted off to. Glad that we can have that finger snap if needed. Personal stuff usually isn't fun to deal with, but eh...such is life.

As for an earlier discussion, most of which occurred while I was on vacation....I won't get into it much as it's a hot issue and bends some rules a bit. Let's just say the area I'm in is pretty pro-gun; I personally dislike firearms but do sit somewhere in the middle of "both sides" of the debate. To summarize, I do think some stricter regulations and better coordination at the state and federal levels in terms of preventing them from falling into the wrong hands is definitely needed. That said, I consider it to be treating a symptom (Which in and of itself I have no problem alleviating), not the overarching illness. Who or what causes people to want to kill others, be it with a firearm, flames, a homemade bomb, or sharp or blunt-forced tools/weapons?

@NintendoByNature Man, that’s coming along quicker than I’d thought!

@bimmy-Lee Happy anniversary to y’all

@Tyranexx I’m more partial to Brave Little Toaster than Homeward Bound

@ThanosReXXX Glad you’re feeling a bit better.

@HobbitGamer Weirdly enough, I don't think I've ever seen Brave Little Toaster despite the fact that many call it a classic. It just wasn't a movie that I was exposed to as a kid. I was mostly exposed to Disney and Don Bluth films to a lesser extent. XD I'll be sure to track it down sometime.

@Tyranexx oh yea in full observation mode . They all laughed at my first trap but I'm the one laughing now.
@bimmy-lee is it an anniversary for ya? If so congrats!
@HobbitGamer thankfully, it was getting frustrating . at

Played marvel ultimate alliance 3 for a couple hours and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I like it. It blew me away honestly. The amount of characters is sweet. already got spidey whos arguably my favorite marvel character of all time. But I honestly cannot wait until I get dare devil. he's also up there

@Tyranexx - I’ll still watch it too. It’s been on my tv at least 25 times in the last three years. My daughter has been crazy about it since the age of two. Stone cold classic, and the sequel is good too, though not as good as the original of course.

@HobbitGamer - Thanks friend, you’re off the hook for anniversary salutations for me in October, but I think your thinking of NBN’s recent anniversary. Earlier, when we were talking about kid’s shows, I asked you if you ever watched Today’s Special.

@NintendoByNature - Well done today man. I’ve never played Monster Hunter, but I think you’re supposed to spend tonight making weapons and armor out of your slain kittens. Seriously though, you did a great thing. Sounds like most of them are going to homes, but even if this last one goes to a shelter, it has a shot at a decent life. You did good.

We saw The Lion King.

It honestly made me laugh out loud at a certain point, and timon and pumba made me chuckle a few times.

@bimmy-Lee well at least I’m covered. And no, I never saw that. It sounds like I dodged a bullet. I did enjoy Are You Afraid of the Dark. Oh, and that episode of Salute Your Shorts about Zeke the Plumber.

@NintendoByNature You. Happy anniversary to you. 😂

@Tyranexx Brave Little Toaster had the original staff of Pixar, it’s a lot like Toy Story. Love me some Bluth films. Except Rockadoodle. We don’t talk about that.

@StableInvadeel I heard there’s not as much farting of Pumba

@NintendoByNature The last laugh is the best laugh! Glad that it sounds like the young furballs are relatively healthy and heading to decent homes or at least places that can foster them for a little while.

I wonder how many times you've been asked to keep one by this point....

@bimmy-lee I agree that it's a classic, as is the sequel....But yeah, the sequel isn't QUITE as good, though that's one of the movies where my siblings and I borrowed our "creeper van" references. The other that comes to mind is the freakish clown truck from Air Bud.

@HobbitGamer I have seen a video clip for the "Cutting Edge" song from that movie, now that I think about it. Hopefully I fit in the rest of the film soon.

...Yeah, we don't talk about Rockadoodle.

@HobbitGamer there's at least four pumba farts and at least one more fart joke that doesn't involve actual farting.

Besides that, I guess, there's very few elements that this introduces that were not in the original, among them, the obligatory female empowerment scene. (which this movie handled a bit more organically than Aladdin and Endgame, tbh).

It's almost 1:1 with the original. Just less... Animated.
