Topic: The Chit-Chat Thread

I’d love to go to another one, it was a really cool experience. It was one of the few times I’ve been a minority in a room full of people, most of whom didn’t speak my language or chose not to. Everyone was so nice. I conversed with the rattlesnake boot guy all night. I don’t think he knew what I was saying, and I definitely didn’t know what he was saying, but somehow we made it work and became friends. I think about him all the time.

Oh believe me, most of them could understand you.

It reminds me of that time two of my cousins from Arizona (two girls) were having a very raunchy conversation (in English) in the same room I was in.

They learned I could understand English that day.

@bimmy-lee I don't think I'd be particularly interested in thinking about that specific community, but to each their own. I'm fine with platonic bromance, though.

@Tyranexx Well, you should read them, because we've been having some fun, over these last three pages, and because all of it was pretty light-hearted, you'll breeze right through it. And it's weekend, so why not?

@ThanosReXXX Haha, maybe in a little while! This evening should be fairly relaxing, barring some stuff that I need to get done.

On the other hand, tomorrow will be a marathon. Sunday is starting to look about the same until the evening.

@bimmy-lee Saving money is definitely a big perk of not drinking! Last time I drank big we were shooting spiced rum, a favorite from my college days. And a friend brought over some boozy carbonated water which was actually pretty good.

@NEStalgia All my grocery stores advertise half cakes and pies now in semi-circle containers. What's up w/ that? If I wanted half a cake I'd buy a whole cake then eat one half, save the other half for when I wanted half a cake.

I can't complain about the chemical taste though, I'm all about artificial everything. Though I whipped some cream for pudding in a cloud the other day and it was rather good. And instant pudding, it's too hot to boil milk.

@Morpheel - Ha, classic. They probably immediately started questioning every conversation they ever had in your presence. Since we’re on a somewhat cultural topic, I’ve wondered if you have/had any interest in Lucha? I have a dream of seeing a show some day in Mexico City.

@ThanosReXXX - I get it, I won’t bring that up again. I have a simple lens. Jerk or not a jerk. I dislike jerks, and love not jerks. To piggyback on what you wrote to @Tyranexx , I think the chit chat thread is the best place on the internet. I wish I would have found it before I took my NL sabbatical. I laugh here every day, and appreciate everyone who posts.

@BougieBeetle - Oof, I had a long run with spiced rum in college as well. I can’t drink it anymore, but I had fun with it. My wife brought home a case of White Claw hard seltzer tonight to accompany a variety pack of Mexican beer. I’ve been wanting to try it, and it’s delicious. It’s kind of weak, but it’s great over ice with a shot of vodka. I’ve had friends who’ve taken a year or more off from alcohol, and they’ve all remarked about how much money they saved.

I have cousins who were very into it as teens though.

@rjejr they keep finding "creative" ways to sell less and less for more money to the point it's absurd. What i don't get off why people actually still buy any of it?

Plus it's horrid tasting. Nothing like a real bakery.... But most people seem to think there's no difference. I just had a supermarket cupcake. It tastes like a mixture of a jolly rancher, benzine, and be rat poison. I've never eaten rat poison, but i imagine it tastes like that.

But... They were literally Mario & Luigi cupcakes... Even if they taste like DconOzine, I'm not passing that up

@Tyranexx A marathon? On Saturday? You're doing 6 days of work now?

I was almost thinking the photo was missing one of the color filters. It's all very blueish.

@bimmy-lee Nah, I'm not that strict about it, but it sure isn't something that I'm willing to picture, so it was more of a "protecting myself from mental imagery" kinda thing. And it also kinda made me think of furries, another entire world of weird but not wonderful...

As for your sentiments on this here thread and its inhabitants: right back at'cha, my friend, right back at'cha.

From what I've gleaned from the last few pages, desserts are amazing but have been shrinking (Obviously, but in my experience the stuff that doesn't come directly from a decent bakery or restaurant isn't worth it and is full of more preservatives than a dead relative), Anti has a sore throat (Boy do those suck), some here apparently worship bacon (I like it, but it's a bit overrated IMO), and I apparently need to explore the world of alcohol a bit more. XD I don't stock it normally but do intend to explore the world of beer a tad more. Good beers, not those nasty canned ones that a lot of people seem to like that smell like #1. I usually can't get past the smell.

I've also been meaning to try mead at some point, though I've heard mixed things about the taste.

@ThanosReXXX Saturday/tomorrow will just be a really busy day. I might shoehorn in about an hour of game time if I can get up and at 'em early enough, but the rest of the day, while decent, will be filled with a shopping trip and an anniversary celebration for some relatives in the evening. I'm sorely in need of some new shoes, should probably do some clothes shopping as they unfortunately don't shrink, and really want to stop by a decent bookstore for a change. I have to rely on online shopping for a lot of books and manga these days. There are no bookstores nearby anymore, and the selection that Walmart does have is quite pitiful.

If I'm home before 10 PM due to the distances involved, I'll be very surprised.

Sunday involves a family reunion for part of my dad's side and a busy morning before that noon deadline to be there.

@bimmy-lee I've found that recently, the forums overall are more sane than the article comment sections these days. But hey, glad to keep you entertained!

@Tyranexx No, I never got it working in Excel. I may try in Access next week; I forgot that even existed. The whole idea was to have a report that can be launched by the Windows Task Scheduler without manual interaction. For example, I’ve designed a Crystal Report that displays patients missing insurance data. I can have WTS launch my Crystal Report, but it doesn’t refresh and populate data until the user hits refresh and enters ODBC credentials.
All of this work around is because IT won’t give me access to build screen widgets for our EMR. I have an SQL query that populates in under 3 seconds, but the IT director doesn’t like me. Meh whatever, I’m venting.
TLDR; I fiddle because I have to. 😑

I played some Mario Kart online and got thrashed! I think I’ll play something else in a few after I put dishes away. Maybe Hyrule Warriors and a cheesy movie.

My sore throat still made me pain when i swallowed my breakfast this morning.
Is it me or my body started to feel heavy like i got fever symptom after i got sore throat ?

@bimmy-lee There have been long periods where I swore of spiced rum for similar reasons, but when push comes to shove, I just can't say no to the ol' Captain!
