@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Yeah, they all kind of hate me. It's pretty much total and utter BS. It does make me pretty salty, because normally this is a pretty chill and open site, and different opinions are pretty respected. But nope. I don't like VR so everyone needs to tell me how "wrong" I am.
Well with Octane we can never really be sure. I mean I occasionally do feel like he is the literal source of all evil in all the universes. Like Satan himself looks at Octane and is just like "Duuuuude, this guy is mean!" And God agrees.
But this time I do think it was a joke.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Actually, most of the people here don't seem to hate me on here. Or at least they don't act like it. I don't recognize most of the names of the people replying to me on that thread. Except for @Trajan who is pretty cool. And if he or she hates me, they were pretty chill about it. It's like you said, this site is pretty chill a majority of the time, and that's the reason I like chatting here so much.
That, and @antdickens and his team do such a good job running it. I read almost every article at this point, almost obsessively. lol

@Morpheel I was thinking more along the lines of him being a 'furry'...
I'll grab my coat now...
@Tyranexx Yes, I actually do. I wouldn't be able to imagine a man's voice when reading your comments...
@ReaderRagfish I'm not really on board with the uncle thing. (edit: I'm almost tempted to post a sound byte. Almost... ) My voice is low, gritty and has a slight rumble. I'm the action movie voice-over guy. Except with a chip on his shoulder, hence the specific choice of avatar...
As for the other voices: I didn't get your idea for @NEStalgia either, even with your added explanation. He's actually the guy that steps off of his snowboard, goes to the tree, and puts his ear to the ground to hear if the tree is growing or not. He has the voice of a seasoned tech nerd. Not a high voice, but also a reasonably low voice, with a scratch maybe. And he manages to come across as pretty calm, initially, until you get to know him and all his quirks, and you find out that the calm demeanor is just a front...
Oh, and tech nerds are the lousiest snowboarders EVER, so he'd probably plow right into that tree at breakneck speeds...
@rjejr Is a grumpy, yet spiritual guy, and he probably also has somewhat of a low voice. And in his mind, he wants to be forever young and wild, because in real life, he can't be. Hence his choice for the Kermit avatar...
@Tyranexx's voice is that of a gentle, positive yet active/lively person, like one of these always cheerful and helpful neighbors that you might find in your own neighborhood. The one that is probably always willing to help others, so she'd be willing to help towing your truck out of a ditch, and you can pretty much always knock on her door for a cup of sugar or to ask her if you can use her phone. She would like some appreciation in return, though. And she'd love for you to invite her to a good barbecue party...
@Morpheel's voice is not that of a cat, although I could imagine him having kind of a laid-back voice, in which case Garfield may not even be as bad as it sounds. Far as we know, he speaks perfect English, with a slight Mexican accent, and he comes across as a friendly, soft-spoken person.
@Anti-Matter's voice is one of these typical, a-masculine Asian voices. Fast talking and high-pitched, and because of none (or few) of us being able to understand his native language, it all just sounds like a weird cacophony of sound. An Asian chatterbox/chatter monkey. Or should I say Mankey, because of his Pokémon obsession?
(edit: come to think of it, he might also sound like a slightly higher pitched version of Leslie Chow from The Hangover)
Because of his frequent "It's dangerous to go alone. Here, take this" comments, I'd imagine @ogo79's voice to be that of an old, wise man or wizard...
@AlohaPizzaJack sounds like the best combo of Ross, Joey and Chandler, and he obviously sounds very enthusiastic, especially when talking about a certain kind of pizza...
@Octane sounds like a Dutch guy. Except one with an English accent that's actually halfway decent...
Don't really have any suggestions for the others, since I haven't "spoken" with them that much, so from now on,
I'll probably imagine them having the voices you suggested.
@Heavyarms55 I'm perfectly fine with you not liking VR, aka actually having your own opinion, and I most certainly don't hate you. (don't know if I'm included in the suspects list, but just in case, so you know)
@Morpheel Look, I get it, everything I have said on this issue is wrong. Period. I am wrong, in everything I said. I give up. VR is the best bloody thing since sliced bread! I am never sharing any other opinion on that topic on this site again because clearly it's a really bad idea.
I try very hard to avoid stating my opinions as facts because I don't like it when others do that very thing. But if people interpret my personal dislike as an assertion stating something being objectively bad... well honestly, I blame them. I'm not really sure how I can be much clearer. Personally liking or disliking something is not the same thing as stating it is objectively good or bad.
Is that really such a common thing? That when people hear or read another person saying "I don't like X" they take it as some kind of code for "X is bad" ??? People should say what they mean! If I actually think something is legitimately, objectively bad, I will make that very clear. Or maybe not. Because this entire fiasco has me seriously doubting my own ability to communicate.
But it's yet another friendly reminder that, communication, like nearly everything else I do in life, I freaking suck at. But that's fine. Just one more thing I fail at. It was already a long list. One more thing ain't gonna hurt.
@Morpheel Either that, or he just means that because @Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy is simply the best-rated voice actor, she's nearly always the one being hired to dub all these animes...
Glass half full, people. Glass half full...

@Heavyarms55 I wouldn't sweat it. I think you're fine. It's part of the problem with the internet, sometimes it's hard to know if people are joking or serious, and it's really hard to communicate with people because of that fact. Don't think you're doing anything wrong or that you're bad at it. Even I sometimes have trouble explaining my opinion on something if I don't like it. In turn it just unfortunately makes it sound like what were saying is fact, if we don't put at the end , IMO. So hang in there, you're OK in my book for what it's worth 😆
@NintendoByNature Completely agreed concerning online communication. I myself am a highly social and empathic person, but have at times found myself in the weirdest, most unwanted discussions, being painted as some kind of asocial megalomaniac. Must be the avatar or something...
Comes with the territory, indeed, of being online, and missing essential factors like voice intonation and facial expressions, making people assume all kinds of things sometimes. And as I've often said, the internet unfortunately also gives a voice to people that shouldn't have any, or people that you'd simply be able to ignore in real life, such as extremists of whatever kind, but online, it's pretty hard to avoid them.
Just take a look at the average YouTube comments section. It's a true cesspool sometimes...
Luckily, this community here is still pretty decent. Don't like the ignore button, though: I know for a fact that some people have ignored me based upon similar misunderstandings, and that bothers me immensely.
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy You're welcome. And I forgot you are a teacher. Would have been the easier choice, but I obviously tried to explain the whole voice acting thing...

@ThanosReXXX yep you're exactly right . Twitter gets pretty rough too. Aside from linkedin this is the only form of social media im on. Honestly I feel alot better about not being on those platforms, not that there's anything wrong with being on them but for me, I just grew tired of the hatred, know it alls, and the look how good my life is. That's why i like NL so much. Since it's pretty much only gaming discussions ( aside from this thread), I can relate to alot of People.
