@ThanosReXXX While it's not my tastes, I can't say that dancing, taken to the extremes is particularly unmanly. Professional (or at least skilled) dancers, including (if not especially male dancers) are flat out athletes, no question. It's all about power and control, and it's extreme. Sure, dance games are not quite professional level dancing, they simply it the same way futbol <sic> games simplify playing soccer... But the idea isn't terribly effeminate. Besides, everyone knows the good dancers don't go home alone... You and I....we are not good dancers..... So we compensate with "manly games"

TCGs = Trading Card Games. Now there's a real gambling compulsion. Move over EA/Lootbox mania!

@ReaderRagfish You and me both!

@ReaderRagfish As an adult, fighting some random dude you've never even met usually takes place in bars, on music festivals or sports events, nowadays...

@NEStalgia
Oh, wait.
Do you think Animal Kaiser and Aikatsu Arcade are practical of TCG for kids ?
Those machines are ALMOST in every Arcade games in my country.

@NEStalgia I didn't mean dancing in general, but stomping around on a platform in front of a monitor displaying moving arrows... yeah, decidedly unmanly in my opinion, sorry.

As for us not being good dancers: I'd have to refer you to the "speak for yourself" box, my friend.
Besides martial arts, my former interests and weekly occupations also included breakdancing, among other things, and thanks to my martial arts training, I was quite flexible too. I actually think both skills complimented each other.

And to this day, I still enjoy watching break- or street dancers or modern dancers, so if any program or talent show comes along containing any of that, then I'll be sure to watch it.

As for trading card games: I used to have slightly nerdy friends, who were completely absorbed by Magic, but
I never got into that. I tried the computer versions of it several times, but I never got hooked. Probably the closest
I ever came to actually playing one for longer, was with the Lost Kingdom games on the GameCube.

Arcades were a big part of my life growing up. All my local and school friends use to hook up after school or Saturday Sundays at the fish and chips shop which was great but hidden at the back they had 2 pool tables and about 20 arcade cabinets including street fighter 2. Mortal Kombat. Puzzle bubble. Out run. Raiden metal slug 1.2 x etc etc. They were the best days growing up playing great games with friends and strangers. It was still running all the way towards my college days. These places do not exist no more, at least where I live. Nowadays life is busy, most friends have moved places married, children etc all scattered in different locations, some are not here with us no more. Life. I still consider myself lucky if we at least get to all join up and catch up once a month.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

ThanosReXXX

@1UP_MARIO Yeah, pretty much the same with my friends. Some married, some moved to other cities, always pressed for time. Funny thing is that I was actually one of the first to have a serious relationship, but (several of) mine didn't really work out, and ultimately, all the others caught up to me, and most actually did make it work/stick, after a few failed tries, and now I'm the only single guy left...

Life, and it's strange twists and turns. Better try and make sure to enjoy the ride while it lasts...

@ThanosReXXX @ReaderRagfish Dave and busters are the only big ones i know about. Usually though I recall them having newer arcade games hardcore gamers like us don't find too appealing( or at least itching to get our paws on). Deal or no deal comes to mind. Not that it isnt good or anything, but not aimed at gamers. Nonetheless I tend to have a good time when I pop Into those places. Not sure if it's the beer or the games though

ThanosReXXX

@NintendoByNature I haven't really been to many lately, but over here, all you'll find in bars is a gambling machine, pool table, or if you're lucky, a pinball machine or maybe one of those Neo Geo multi-game cabinets. But hardly ever with the good titles. I used to know of one lounge bar with one of these Pac-Man tables, that you sit down at, but unfortunately, that disappeared quite a few years ago already.

EDIT:
Everything except pool tables can often also be found in snack bars.
Real snack bars, not McDonald's, mind you.

@ThanosReXXX yea there's some pizza places locally that have some cabinets still. And Some breweries that tend to have some old school cabinets. But still, not a place filled with good old fashioned arcade cabinets I saw growing up

@ThanosReXXX I’ve had my fair share of twist and turn. Then again, life without problems is no fun 😉

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@NintendoByNature Same here, for the most part. There are a small handful of true arcade halls still, but none really near where I live. We used to hang out at one in the center of the city, that had all the good games, but that has been gone for years, and been replaced with something more "touristy"...

@1UP_MARIO Well, I'm not one to complain much, but at my age, I've honestly had my fill of problems.
Had more than my fair share of them, so time for someone else to take over the baton from me...

Arcades weren’t a big thing when I was growing up. There was a 7-11 with the TMNT, Pizza Hut with Pac-Man and Simpsons, and some hotel in Oklahoma with Robotron. That’s about all I remember. I’m sure the mall in VA Beach had one, but I was more interested in the Smithsonian store and Walden Books at that time.

@AlohaPizzaJack I forgot about the Simpson's arcade beat em up. That was one of my favorites.. from what I recall. Bart rode a skateboard and Marge hit people with a vacuum cleaner right?

Hm, it would seem that I haven't been keeping enough of an eye on the rebirth of arcade halls in and around my area:

@Sintown As you can see, not quite true, as I've also just found out, so I actually made the same mistake as you. From what I've read from their website, GameState arcade halls can actually be found in multiple places in the Netherlands, so sounds like a fun idea for a day trip or something...

@ReaderRagfish Those last two videos I posted are from a Barcade, so I guess those really ARE a thing.
For a second there, you did actually have me wondering...

@Sintown Glad to be of service. I was actually pleasantly surprised myself, to find out that large arcade halls still exist around here.
