@AlohaPizzaJack better than what's on my plate. I have way too much to do today and it's already 1:30pm over here. Definitely not enough time for me to finish my stuff. Plus, Im in the lobby of arguably one of my biggest potential customers waiting to meet this guy for a potential big order. I guess that's a good thing. But id rather be gaming myself

@NintendoByNature Blegh. Maybe he’ll just say “Man, I’d really like to just play a game.” Then it’ll be like a delicate balance between letting him win and being competitive, with his purchase order hanging in the balance.
On second thought, that sound terribly stressful. Good luck!

I’m gonna clean the fridge 😑

Anyhow, our local newspaper company now has a literal monopoly on local news.

I live in a mid size town (population about 70,000 or so) north of Kansas City, and we used to get the local ABC, NBC, CBS, & Fox affiliates from KC, as well as a local ABC affiliate here in town that acted as sort of a training station.

Well, not quite a decade ago the local newspaper company obtained the rights to become a Fox affiliate so the local cable company (which they owned at the time as well, though no longer) dropped the KC Fox station. Then a few years ago they obtained the rights to become a CBS & NBC affiliate, so the cable company dropped the KC stations of those, and now they are buying out the local ABC affiliate as well, which will probably render whatever deal they have with the KC ABC affiliate null & void.

As it is now, they play the exact same newscast on their Fox, CBS, & NBC stations, and soon they'll have 4 different stations showing the exact same newscast, with no alternatives. People are not happy.

Someone uploaded this for April Fool's, and I almost had a heart attack when I saw it. Then I checked the date of upload and the channel name. Oof.

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

I took a telework day, so I’m only on call for big problems. So far I’ve mowed and weeded, done dishes, sorted mail, done laundry, and I’m about to go to the dump. When is it gaming time?

I took off today and this coming Monday as well. It's been awhile since I've had a day off and wanted a final weekend of (mostly) fun before I have to start with yard work. Today was mostly spent doing some sightseeing, failed game shopping (I'm considering not using Brickseek any longer), exercising/Pokemon Go, and a bit of reading.

Barring some adulting that needs done tomorrow, most of my weekend from here on out will be devoted to games, sleep, and Tolkien's LotR: The Two Towers. I took a brief break from the book after finishing Book III in it and am now digging through Book IV.

@ReaderRagfish
I'm looking for a suitable name for my Avian Kickboxer (Swallow).
So far, i have given some my Avian Kickboxers such as Arnold for Eagle, Caleb / Calum for Dove, Russell / Corbin / Wolfram for Raven.
And i still need some name suggestion for Swan, Owl, Japanese Crane (I have found name Tsuru but i want to add with another prefix like Tsurugi or Tsuruga or Tsurublablabla ), Woodpecker (not Woody), Albatross, Falcon (not Falco), Blue Jay, Red Cardinal.
I still haven't draw yet the other birds but i have drawn the concept for Eagle, Dove and Raven. I designed Eagle as adult Avian Kickboxer legend + coach (age around 30's), Dove and Raven as Avian Kickboxer apprentice & Senior High School students (Dove = 15 years old, Raven = 16 years old).

I approve of this only if the round count is done by The Count. And Oscar insults the loser with a cheesy one liner.
“They should have looked before they crossed this street”, “That fight was trash, and I know my garbage”, etc.

@NEStalgia I ran into that sort of thing in the US too when I lived there. I was working at GM at the time and a machine several positions behind me broke down really bad. Took them like 3 shifts to find and fix the problem. But they couldn't send us home because if they did, and the repair guys fixed it like 10 minutes later, they'd have to call everyone back. So I literally sat at my machine playing Animal Crossing New Leaf for almost an entire shift. We just did the small number of engine blocks that had made it through the machine before it broke.

Turned out one fuse had blown on the machine, but the machine had no way to tell which, so they had to go through, one by one, trying to start the thing up until they found it. Something like more than 100 fuses...

Random thought: Anyone else mildly bummed that the Switch doesn't play the Switch "click" sound effect every boot up? Or am I the only one who likes that sort of thing? I loved the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox startup sound effects too.

@NEStalgia I know what Anti's point was, but I'm just not interested in all his decidedly un-manly hobbies and interests. Give me boobs, bombs and guns. And lots and lots of over the top kills...
(and if I do watch something model-related, it will indeed be for the eye candy, so something along the lines of the yearly Victoria's Secret show)

As for the rest: you're not quite getting what I'm trying to say concerning brain age vs military service.
Yes, a lot of what you said is correct, but that's not what I meant. I also didn't mean something along the lines of "you need to have experienced war/conflict to be able to understand it".

What I actually meant is that, regardless of age, situation, times/era, world view, it is simply and factually bio-mechanically impossible for 18 year olds to understand and get what they're doing when they go to war, on a long term basis. Sure, they can perform all their tasks, and a lot of those are indeed more or less hardwired into the brain, but understanding the long term implications and ramifications, as I mentioned in my previous comment just isn't possible, both physically and mentally. The neural pathways and connections to be able to do that, are made at a certain age, regardless of any situation, so being in some situation where one needs to grow up sooner will most definitely NOT expedite that evolution. It happens when it happens, without it being influenced by someone's personal situation.

Other kinds of neural pathways will be made, and these ARE related to personal development and situations, but they have nothing to do with the more or less fixed way that the brain is bio-mechanically developed.

@Tyranexx Ah, that sucks. So basically, you had to get out of the house, to be able to do some catching up on all of that, then? I can only imagine the back log of things you potentially still need to see...

@Heavyarms55 Agreed with your random thought. I really liked the GameCube startup too, as well as the ones from the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. The Wii and Wii U don't really have a startup sound, but I still like how these sound as well, with the in-menu chimes at startup.

@Lumine That happens every once in a while. You could try cleaning your browser's cache and/or cookies for the relevant sites, or if the problem persist, perhaps @antdickens can look into it for you. Anthony is the one responsible for those sites.

@ThanosReXXX: Yep! The good news is that, as of a half hour ago, I'm (mostly) house-bound for the rest of the weekend. I'm glad I got out today since the weather decided to be even nicer than the forecast called for. Spring has definitely sprung here!

@Tyranexx doing yardwork myself with how nice it is. It's like 65 and sunny here in Chicago. Where abouts are you?

I've spent my past hour playing Darksiders: Warmastered on the Wii U. Other than a couple of weird cutscene transitions, it seems like a pretty solid port so far. I'm having a blast with War!

Also, the Watcher sounds pretty familiar....

Edit: Facepalm No wonder, it's Mark Hamill!

@NintendoByNature: It's about 70 degrees here in southern IL and sunny! This is the first I've cracked my windows open ever since we had that freak warm-up on Super Bowl weekend back in February. By all accounts I should also be out doing yardwork, but my hope is to give the lawn a couple more days....Some parts of it need decapitated, others don't. XD My knockout roses also need pruned down a bit, but the online sources I've been reading claim that they aren't ready for trimming until they start leafing out.

@Tyranexx nice! Not too far from me. Enjoy darksiders, I'm playing thru it too. About 6.5 hours in. Yea vulgrim and the watcher are both Mark hammil I believe. It's like the only voice he has lol. If you ever watched the flash he was the trickster and did the same exact voice as both of them hahaah
