Elsagate, as it was infamously named by the internet, refers to an era in YouTube when many many channels produced weirdly inappropriate videos that YouTube categorized as safe for kids. These would often end up being watched by kids when parents left them on auto-play mode in YouTube kids.
They would usually star popular kids characters, like Elsa, spider man, my little pony characters, etc, and feature them in weird, bizarre, and often inappropriate situations; for example: pregnacy, tickling, peeing, pooping, injections, kidnapping, violence, “pranks”, etc. It was all pretend of course, but still.
The most infamous would also feature actual kids participating in these acts.
It was a very big issue some years ago, and while it’s a bit toned down, these channels still exist and pump weird factory produced “kids” content every day.
@Delibheel Hm, doesn't really sound like something I'd watch anyway. The last REALLY offensive thing that I used to be a dedicated follower from, is Happy Tree Friends, and the most recent weird "for kids, but not actually for kids after all" video that I've seen, is an "anatomical" 3D animation video about how a unicorn "produces" rainbows and multi-colored "soft ice cream" out of a certain part of his body, complete with a horizontal cut-through of his innards...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
It’s not something anyone should be watching. It wasn’t a fun, creative, subversive thing like happy tree friends, it was literally foreign companies mass producing content designed to cheat the system and generate mountains ad revenue by fooling little kids into watching them.
Some would even say some of them followed a more nefarious agenda, by intending to achieve the normalization of things like violence and inappropriate behavior by having kids watch them being performed by characters they know and trust.
After all, there’s only so any times Little Timmy can watch spider man tricking Elsa into drinking his pee before he tries to “prank” someone.
@ThanosReXXX Happy Tree Friends really isn’t that offensive or scarring. Either that or my six year old self just wasn’t fazed by gore.
But that unicorn stuff is disgusting. I hate how people will make an effort to scar young minds.

@GyroZeppeli Six years old?
Next thing you know, you're gonna tell me that you were already playing Resident Evil games back then, while you should only have been playing wholesome games, like somebody else on here is still doing...

@ThanosReXXX I don’t do that stuff anymore. The only thing I really enjoy from that time was GTA. I hadn’t seen anything weird, so just stealing cars and exploring the city was pretty fun. Would play it again at some other point, yet I don’t even remember which one it was.

@Delibheel Ah, got it. Thanks. How could I forget? I actually watched Frozen last year... @GyroZeppeli I always remember the various GTA's either by the themes, or the surrounding controversies...
And one was more or less Miami Vice-themed, my favorite TV show back in the day, so that one is always the easiest to remember. And it even had part of it's name in common...
@ThanosReXXX It had to have been GTA 3 or something. I really only remember the driving and the blocky graphics so it could have been a knockoff for all I know.

Talking about frozen, have you guys seen the kingdom hearts 3 recreation of the let it go song?
It’s really cool to see a movie being so faithfully recreated in real time, it almost looks the same. They even left the animation error when the braid phases through her shoulder and all.
@ThanosReXXX If I was jealous of a senile gamer I'd be tagging you and me. (insert gif of the muppets.)
Nah, jealous of the backup Christmas dinner.
@GyroZeppeli This conversation is everything wrong with the internet all at once.
The only really cool GTA hack videos I saw were a beautiful commentary - using Samsung Note 7's as sticky bombs.
Speaking of Kingdom Hearts....I started the series at the beginning and.....is it wrong that I'm not enjoying the 1st one as much as I'd remembered it? A lot of it seems bad, and I find myself desperately trying to get through the Tarzan part because it's grueling and completely unfun. And the way to solve even Wonderland just seemed unintuative and annoying. I'm hoping the rest of the series isn't worse than I remember it too....it's disappointing that a long time favorite feels unfun to me. I want to go in order, but I may end up skipping to 3.
@Delibheel On a side note: who the heck is this Elsa character anyway? I mean: everybody knows Spiderman, but Elsa...
Elsa was supposed to be Snow Queen according to the real Snow Queen fairy tale. In real version, Snow Queen kidnapped the brother of the young girl (the main character) as her hostage and the young girl tried to rescue her sibling. But on Disney version, they set Elsa (Anna's sister) as the "Snow Queen", Anna as Elsa's sister who was the young girl who will find her brother according from the real version and Kristoff as Anna's friend who was supposed to be "Anna's sibling" and Disney chose Hans as the villain who was supposed to be Snow Queen was the villain in real version. Hans also said his heart was frozen to Anna and left Anna in the dark room, extinguish the fireplace with cold water and left Anna slowly frozen by Elsa's ice power on her since she was kid.
Sorry for my terrible Engrish. I tried to explain with all my English fluency.
Kingdom Hearts is something that always intrigued me but I never got around to playing. Of course, this was mostly bc the mainline games are PlayStation exclusives, but just playing the spinoffs without prior context just makes the confusing story even more complex.

On Youtube comments, i have ever heard about the debates between Mulan and Elsa. Mulan was supposed to be the REAL princess due to her duty to save her father to not let him joined in army and take his position as a soldier instead by disguising as a man (She cut her hair, stole her father's soldier armor, runaway from her house and joined in intensive army training to defeat Hun clans). Most peoples said Mulan was the True Princess because True Princess will NOT runaway from reality. Mulan risked her life to save her father, she could be killed if the army knew there was a woman in army. But what was Elsa doing after she accidentally harming her sister Anna with her ice power just runaway from reality, let it go and built her castle to forget everything including her guilty feeling to not let her to use her ice power again.
Well, that was i read from majority comments about Mulan vs Elsa in term of True Princess.
