I would love to have a cat, but it'd have to be outdoors. Problem is, I live near a pretty busy road and am surrounded by people who own yappy dogs to boot. (I also like dogs, but I prefer cats.)

You wouldn't be love on it as often or have it as a lap warmer. lol

My cat must live inside, just stepping outside will mean a chase and probably death by dog.

There are a few reasons, really. I'm not home as much as I should be to take care of an indoor animal (mostly due to work). I'm also against declawing and don't want to worry about/cover furniture. Add to that a bad experience with one of an aunt's indoor cats (at their place even) and the state of the old carpets in my house from a Yorkie that the previous family had, and I'm not exactly thrilled about having an animal inside.

Besides, with thick hair, I shed enough as it is. XD

That's what we do with Sanya, you just have to watch them...get onto them when they mess with stuff. She's been fine with that for the most part, only thing she messed with is my sheets, but they're old anyways.

I'm guessing the chewing thing just depends on the cat, since Sanya does that a lot...been trying to chew on my wires back then. But it turns out the aluminum foil actually helps with that.

Here I am in northwest Missouri, and am woken up at 7 A.M. by an earthquake O_O (needless to say, this ISN'T supposed to happen lol).

When I woke up my bed was shaking, and I could hear my bro saying that the power poles & street lights were swaying (and my dad was saying other things in the house were shaking, as well).

Apparently there was a 5.6 quake 15KM northwest of a city called Pawnee in Oklahoma, and that's what we were feeling.

Yeah...just saw Smooth McGroove say something about that.

Figures there was an earthquake and I slept right through it. XD I am farther away from the epicenter, though (IL).

I guess I'm just used to having animals outside (including cats, dogs, etc.) since I grew up on a farm.

Wait, declawing cats is a thing? That sounds cruel.

And it is, what they do is remove the parts of the paw where the claws grow. The whole thing.

It would like removing your fingertips.

It also leaves the cat basically defenseless.

Yeah, our cat is declawed, so we have to keep him indoors (the one time he got out he was beat up pretty bad by an opossum).

We didn't have it done to him BTW, it had already been done when we adopted him.
