Skyward sword HD has to be a thing. It has to right? Calling it now! Before years end we'll be getting that announcement! It shouldn't be hard to get it working on switch and despite some calling the controls horrid it really helps to have the patience to learn them. Plus i think it's one of the series best and absolutely deserves a second chance!

If SSHD comes out, so many outlets are going to whine about how "they didn't make a non-motion control options", disingenously arguing that the game's unpopularity was due to the control scheme (it wasn't, it was due to a series of poor design decisions caused by them scrapping progress late in development and being on a very short time frame)
I remember SS being quite well-received when it was first released. I just attributed the current disdain to the Zelda cycle...(Twilight Princess had a similar period where the haters became more vocal, and I think we're seeing it with BotW to some extent)
That said, I do agree it would be a big mistake for them to release a Zelda game that requires motion controls, considering the existence of handheld mode and the Switch lite...
Yeah, I don’t see Skyward Sword coming to switch, unless they fully remake the entire game and it’s controls. Especially since it’d just alienate those with switch lites.

The hate / praise for TP and SS appeared to be very cyclical, although with SS I do think that a large chunk was due to the motion controls.
You can apply the situation of the first two versions of TP: the GameCube version held its value for years, while the Wii version didn't. I assume that is to do with motion controls. Personally, I enjoyed both versions.
I guess that due to the lite, motion controls would mainly have to be used for puzzles (keys, etc) and removed elsewhere
Actually, they could also have fast travel flying, replace Fi with Navi, and make the bosses harder.
@Rambler I'm pretty sure the TP resale price was due to several issues:
1. GameCube is a much more attractive collection for collectors to curate than Wii
2. TP on Wii outsold TP on GCN 5:1, so there are significantly more used copies available.
3. Both GCN and Wii owners might want the GCN version, while only Wii owners can play the Wii version.
I'd wager BotW Wii U will be far more expensive in the future than Switch due to having a similar sales ratio.
Well my hopes are (in descending order)
1. BotW2
2. Skyward Sword HD
3. TWW HD + TP HD ports
4. Some kind of collection
As to how realistic those are, I think Nintendo has definitely planned to release BotW2 in 2021 (cause it would fit for the anniversary) but the question is, are they getting this game done in time? Especially since Covid19 hinders development of games a bit. I think it's 50/50 if the game releases this year or not.
As for SSHD, I'm sure Nintendo wants to port this game somehow but I don't know if they figured out a way to get this game to work without motion controll. I mean yeah sure they could use the Joy-Cons to get the motion control working on Switch but what about the Pro-Controller/Handheld-Mode. They could bind the control of the sword to the right C-Stick but I don't know if that works well.
TWW HD and TP HD ports will definitely come some time and if BotW2 doesn't release this game this year I'm 100% they will be released this year.
And a collection? Maybe, but what games would they include cause I don't see them selling OoT,MM,TWW,TP and SS in one package for 60$. Also they would probably use the original versions of OoT/MM instead of the 3DS remakes which would be kind of lame
@link3710
Scarcity didn't even occur to me!
And yeah, I can see the GCN being the "gamers' machine", unlike the Wii.
There was definitely stuff said about the GameCube version being the best of the two due the lack of motion controls. Coupled with that you can play it on the Wii (as you said), lead to its financial longevity (...I think).
But yeah, from what you have said, I can see the second-hand price of WiiU BoTW being higher than the common-as-muck Switch version
SS still garners a lot of (IMO) well deserved criticism, which actually set in pretty soon after the game came out. I feel like it's definitely the most poorly received 3D Zelda game by far. But completely independent of the motion controls, SS had a LOT of problems such as
Fi
The empty Sky
Extremely abundant padding
Very linear progression
Very poor story pacing.
It's known at this point that they had to scrap aspects of the game pretty late in development, and so a lot of the game ended up being developed in 2D years, and it very much shows in how the game is padded.
I totally understand that motion controls can be hit or miss for some people, but they were pretty well received at first because they executed Wii Motion Plus quite well.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
WRT Fi and the funless sky - totally! Somehow I hope they get rid of Fi. Adding to the sky would seem to me a big undertaking, but they could add fast travel to the islands and the mainland.
I'm sure that this was the first (3D) Zelda to allow a choice in paths - to the extent that it wasn't implemented correctly, and caused a game-breaking error!
Personally I like the way you went back to the same areas over again, but finding more to do. However that was a big criticism at the time.
There is a lot to love about the game (and I really enjoyed my playthrough of it), but overall, it is very similar to TP in execution, and part of the reason BOTW is what it is.
@Rambler They can’t really get rid of Fi, due to them being extremely important in Zelda lore and the story itself. They’d basically have to re-write the entirety of skyward sword.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Rambler Yeah, she’s the master sword. And yeah, I think if they just were to remove a lot of the needless text, and only used her for story stuff, then she’d be less annoying.

That said, I do agree it would be a big mistake for them to release a Zelda game that requires motion controls, considering the existence of handheld mode and the Switch lite...
Damn I didn't even think about that. They would have to come up with some crappy non-motion controlled version of it.
Well I hope they do it anyway, because I think the game would benefit massively from a graphical facelift.
TWW HD and TP HD ports will definitely come some time and if BotW2 doesn't release this game this year I'm 100% they will be released this year.

You're right, no way they would release all those together. Several collections seems to be the best way to do this.
The n64 ones as a pair, the Wii U HD remakes as a pair and SS on it's own as a full revamp.
The n64 ones, sadly, I see them doing just roms of the originals running in an emulator rather than porting the 3DS versions.
Skyward Sword HD with normal controls is way up there on my list. It's one I have never played, solely due to the motion controls.
I did not enjoy TP, nor did I play it very far, on Wii. I did enjoy it on Wii U with normal controls. I also did not enjoy the DS Zeldas with their awful forced gimmicks. My experience with those gimmick-forced Zeldas led me to avoid SS completely. So, I'd love a normal version (if it's even possible).
@Slowdive Is this person trustworthy at all? Since this just seems like a random guy on twitter trying to be a "leaker". Maybe it's just because I no longer believe in leaks like these, but this still doesn't seem trustworthy. Especially because Prime 4 being in development hell is.. actually something you don't have to be a leaker to tell. Many people have already been predicting that "BOTW2" will be a switch pro exclusive, or launch title. Not to mention the Mario Galaxy 2 thing has been a theory most people have had since 3D All Stars got revealed.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
Fire Emblem Three Houses is my favorite game
Ashe is the best character in FE:3H
Waluigi For Smash
The game I want most on switch is a new WarioWare (Welp. we got that!)
My favorite movie is Toy Story 3
OoT & MM on Nintendo Switch Online, thus finally opening up a space for N64 games that would never really be updated to leave us hanging as Nintendo usually does;
Trailer/Gameplay footage of BoTW2 with a release date
Bundle up the HD ports of TWW and TP
Bundle up the 3DS remasters of OoT and MM
Nothing
What could be cooking right now:
Some kind of Zelda 35 event, maybe a boss rush (ala Savage Labyrinth or Trials of the Sword)
A Skyward Sword port with enhanced graphics, controls and... fun
A Zelda-themed Switch (Green or Gold) with assorted JoyCons and accessories
An actual shadow release of BoTW2 in 2021 (they might have been working on it since 2017?)
Nothing
But I have the feeling that they would leave out BotW2 of the anniversary, if there was one. It was announced and teased far before and I don't see it topping the event.
