@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Yeah, Wakko's Wish was from the original run of Animaniacs and was a standalone movie. It was kind of cool to that Puss in Boots reminded me of it.
I agree with that, it just showed the kind of dog Perrito was. I would not mind seeing him again if Puss in Boots had another sequel or even in a new Shrek.
@SlashFuture I got an even more uncommon opinion... I actually enjoyed UglyDolls. I rented the movie, honestly didn't find it to be as bad as most made it out to be. Some of the songs were pretty good too.

@SlashFuture Indeed, I've seen people dislike UglyDolls and Trolls. While people have their reasons, I have my reasons to why I enjoy them, or in Trolls case, I love those movies and consider them my favorites.
In UglyDolls case, similar to Trolls, it's the craft-like world of Uglyville and cute cast of characters (even if the point is they're "ugly"), and as someone who found comfort over the years from plushies, the idea of a "doll for every child" hit home with me (even though I'm not a kid anymore). Also, loved the songs.
There could be lots of reasons to like a movie could be liked by someone, not everyone has that critic mindset when watching movies (or playing video games, reading a book, and so on).
I've watched the Emoji Movie once, that's one of the few animated movies I didn't like. If I had one thing good from it, Jailbreak. The idea of a computer hacker that's an emoji seemed kind of cool to me.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika Don't worry, I'm sure #PerritoForShrek5 will trend somewhere in this world.
@SlashFuture Indeed. Also, I feel it's important to remember, even though it can be really hard since I think we all would like our favorites to be acknowledged, that critics and most movie-going people look for different things in movies. In the end, it's all subjective really.
It's only one character, and I don't think being an emoji that hacked was the main plot point of the movie since it was about Meh not wanting to be a meh emoji anymore.

@SlashFuture I think that would have been more interesting to see, given Jailbreak's concept was an Emoji who's a hacker. IMO, she was the one interesting character.

@SlashFuture Not to get into it or anything, but it would have been better had Kylo not been redeemed for two reasons:
a) It kind of came out of left field. I get that he'd had his doubts, but he pretty well shoved them down Snoke's (and the audience's) throats by offing both his current and former Masters (at least he was the cause of Luke's death anyhow) and rejecting Rey's offer. Whatever his feelings might have been, he cast them aside and committed to the Dark Side, so it seems really convenient that he happens to come back to the Light just in time for the final duel.
b) It's been done before, and as you might have guessed from how I detailed it above, far better imho with Vader.
I wasn't interested to see another redemption arc, and certainly not the hot mess we got.
Film that follows the lives of a group of German soldiers during WWI from time of recruitment to the end of the war.
It does a stellar job throwing you into the muck of the war, with powerful scenes & moments that'll make you squirm. It may not be entirely original in showing how gruesome this war was (1917 also comes to mind), but that makes it no less effective, and the viewpoint from the "other" side is an inspired take that shows that war is hell for everyone involved. Not a fun film, but one that's well worth watching.
Ghost in the Shell (4K UHD Blu-Ray)
I'll admit I can be a bit overwhelmed by the narratives/themes the GitS franchise tends to have (for example the Arise line, which I've heard is a bit more narratively "streamlined" compared to the franchise at large, still starts to elude me by the 3rd OVA), however I've always loved the original film, and that holds true with the 4K Blu-Ray release.
With absolutely stunning animation & design that still holds up (& looks fantastic in 4K) and a narrative that explores exactly what it means to be alive/human, there's nothing not to love about it.
Operation Mincemeat (Netflix)
Film based on a true story of how British intelligence attempted to convince the Nazis that the allied Invasion of Europe was going to go through Greece (instead of Sicily) by planting fake invasion plans on the corpse of a vagrant they dressed up like an officer (with a complete made up history to boot) and floated ashore to Spain (being neutral, it had a lot of spies on both sides, so they hoped the Nazis would pick up & fall for it).
It's perhaps a bit too padded out (with the romance drama), but it's produced well enough & is an interesting story that goes to show that sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

@RR529 Fun fact on Operation Mincemeat, one of the characters in the film is Ian Fleming as he worked on the real mission too. Ian Fleming after he retired from being a spy became the creator and writer of the original James Bond books, who depending on how you look it is either a character who is a murderous civil servant toff with mental health issues or a suave and sophisticated spy.
@jump, yeah I caught that by the end, when one of the characters was like "hey Flemming, what are you doing over there?", to which he replied "writing a book.", or some such.
Neat little detail.

@Dogorilla Eek, that website looks rough. Understandably, it mainly focuses on Blu-Ray but is overly complicated with all the various versions available. The digital seems like a bit of an afterthought too and only really mentions iTunes, but I guess it'll do the job for now. Thanks
@Rambler Just wanted something simple - do I own it and where - so I guess excel might not be a bad idea while the collection is relatively small.
@dmcc0 Yeah fair enough, I think there is a section for general digital purchases that aren't just iTunes, but as you say it's not the site's main focus so I don't know how complete the database is.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
