@Gryffin yeah there’s lot more emotion and vision in this one than normal and there’s some really intelligent choices made to resonate with the theme. Namor in particular stole the show for me. I do like the continued focus in this phase of not having the the good guys kill the baddie for the ending, when the heroes are trying to save souls it is much more interesting to me than people slapping each other to the end. Also kudos for Letitia Wright the hardcore churchy who thinks science is some kind of devil worshiping sin for playing a scientist!
It still suffers abit by having characters go “I know how to resolve this problem, I will put on a jaunty costume to hit people” x4, I’m baffled by how they decided to fight the fish people in the ocean so they would have the advantage and I was disappointed with Angela Bassett who can do those big emoting scenes wasn’t given a big finale as literally til the last screen credit came up I was waiting for it.
Odd that this thread which normally doesn’t shut up about superheroes films is quiet on this one.
@Gryffin@jump I quite liked Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Felt a itty bitty bit too long, but I still quite enjoy it. I almost cried on multiple occasions and I don't usually cry in movies, so that speaks for itself, I guess.
I guess I'll be the bad guy for Wakanda Forever. I genuinely thought it was a mess and one of the worst movies I've seen in theaters. I thought the first 10-15 minutes of the movie were good, but after that, it just fell apart so quickly.
The movie understandably has gone through some rough development. They had a script written up and ready to go, but then Mr. Boseman passed away. So another script had to be hastily written in order to meet Disney's deadline, and you can really tell. The movie is poorly written, loaded with plot holes and conveniences, has absurd CGI fight scenes, and has one of the most boring villains out of any MCU movie.
I was seriously considering leaving the movie about halfway through due to how boring it was. I'm glad I didn't though because it led to the best laugh I've ever had in a theater. I was actually crying from laughter at the flashback scene toward the end of the movie. I always love it when movies flashback to events that happened literally 20 minutes ago. That scene where it showed her mom dying and then a random scene of Namor going "Heh" right after just absolutely killed me. I was giggling silently for like 5 minutes. Also, it kept showing flashbacks of Namor's childhood, but I was under the impression that it was Shuri having flashbacks? Was Namor also having flashbacks of his backstory at the exact same time that Shuri was having flashbacks of her backstory?
This video sums up my thoughts on the movie very well. It dives into a lot of the plot holes and pacing issues that I also noticed watching it. I recommend giving it a view. I should mention that the video has language.
I don't enjoy being so critical of Marvel, especially after this movie looked like it could set the franchise back on track. Instead, we just got a rushed mess of a film that likely everyone will forget about in a couple of weeks. I try to suspend some disbelief when watching these sorts of films, but I just couldn't do it here. There are too many plot holes, inconsistencies, and conveniences for me to look past them all. If you ask me, they should have just honored the first Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman by leaving the franchise alone for good. Because if this is how the Black Panther series is going to be carried on in the future, the MCU is just going to continue to be stuck in the same rut it's been in for years now.
@StarPoint Honestly, I was kinda hoping for a critical perspective of this movie 🙃
I really enjoyed it and disagree with pretty much everything you said, but I do respect your opinion and I'm always interested in how everyone feels about something.
@Kermit1Pineapple The concept art looked so coo! The problem I think is that jus that’s train alone had Sammy elements, I can imagine it getting pretty stale.

I'm gonna be honest and say, I don't like The Critical Drinker he says too much of what people want to hear and because of that his fan-base is built up of people who are very one sided and get what they want. He appeals to a very negative crowd who think all modern movies are filth and will only get worse, not to say he doesn't have anything positive to say but most of the time it's the same thing.
The best way to change film is to do it and shut up about change.
@Kermit1Pineapple It’s a teaser to be fair so it’s not meant to show much, but what we have been shown, kinda just looks like a Pixar of Pixar movies tbh.

@Kermit1Pineapple Turning red seemed to be a turning point, and no hate towards soul but it was as Pixar as Pixar could get, they need to start doing stuff different, up sadly only Disney seems to do that and not Pixar.

Turning Red was great as was Soul and it’s barmy that people are complaining about those films when the last film they released to cinema was Buzz Lightyear.
