I watched that movie spirited, it was a really different take on the classic story, and I enjoyed it! And tbh, I think Ryan didn’t a really good job in this movie, but that’s just me, it’s going up there with my Christmas favorites.

Everything Everywhere all at Once. So good. Sooooo good. It’s a hectic ride that tackles a lot of themes but it spoke to me because so much of it is familiar to me. The racial-pessimism undertones, the longing for connection with one’s mother, the fear of the path not taken, the fear of the path taken, the weight of responsibility to succeed for your family and yourself, the recognition that we are just clumps of cells in the armpit of a backwater galaxy, the joy and pain of life and finally the understanding that the meaninglessness of life gives it meaning so be kind and have fun. Yeah we are basically space bacteria but we are space bacteria that can form connections and do better become better even if all it impacts is other space bacteria on our planet. Michelle Yeoh outdid herself (the entire cast really) as she ran the full gamut of all of her acting chops. drama, comedy, action and even a little real life introspection. There is a LOT to process in this movie but at the same time it is such a simple story. I always love stories where the mom becomes not the mother she thinks she should be but rather the one her daughter needs her to be. But most importantly when mother and daughter step outside their role and realize they are both just people and despite that still love each other.

Yes, I do know the film director Sion Sono. He is a prolific Japanese filmmaker, known for his surrealist films and his willingness to experiment with new styles and genres.
What other movies would I like?
If you enjoy Sion Sono's work, you may enjoy other films from Japanese directors such as Hirokazu Koreeda, Takashi Miike, and Kiyoshi Kurosawa. You may also enjoy films from other international directors such as Guillermo del Toro, Bong Joon-ho, and Asghar Farhadi.

Finally got around to watching No Time to Die, I can kinda see why people didn’t like this from the tone, to all the lazy McGuffin filled writing, to the fact that the pacing is honestly just awful. A film shouldn’t feel this underdeveloped when it is this long.
However, I dunno, even while thinking all of these things as truths, I still had a lot of fun with this. I liked the sillier tone, and what that then afforded them in terms of indulgences in set pieces, but also in having silly moments to give those darker moments more weight. And even as a mostly casual Bond fan, I caught loads of references and Easter Eggs to the franchise at wide. I dunno, despite being the one where Bond dies, this felt like a real celebration of what has made this franchise so enduring.
