I’ve been reading some of the extracts from the late great Alan Rickman’s diary. Sadly it is nearly all Harry Potter centric. It was funny he felt nothing after reading the Harry Potter books for the first time and seemed to be in two minds with carrying on the role of Snape on with every film.
I was hoping to see more of his inner thoughts on other films particularly Truly Maddly Deeply which is such an incredibly over looked film.
It does feel abit gross though, there’s comments like he thinks Daniel Radcliffe is not meant to be an actor (but would do well as a producer/director) which makes me think digging up a dead man’s personal diary and thoughts to sell isn’t cool.
Gotta be homest with you, these comments really annoyed me. I don't know if I'm allowed to post screenshots of comments or not, but I guess there's no harm in posting these.
Also this is related to Movies in a way so I should be alright.
Like come on, I've never seen someone so distasteful towards opinions like this before.
I'm all for debate and argument but that's ridiculous. No need to get that personal, especially if you get offended over someone's profile picture choice.

@HotGoomba Yeah, I saw the first Minions spin-off movie awhile back, and I enjoyed this one a lot more. I was surprised how good The Rise of Gru was. One I'm hoping to get on DVD, though I may go for a set of Despicable Me movies too since I lost the first two while moving years ago. I can't find them in my home anywhere.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
I've never watched a Jurassic Park film all the way through but I think any film could be improved by adding a teenage girl gymnastic kicking a velociraptor out the window.
Come on Nintendo, give us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
@HotGoomba I went to the comments section for some context to those comments. That is exactly why I don't bother with Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes scores. Just because a critic liked or hated a movie, doesn't mean it's a "fact" that that movie is "bad" or "good."
Most people who enjoy a movie will most likely call it good. Opinions are different from person to person. I loved Smurfs: The Lost Village, and that sits at a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. Sometimes being into something helps, being a fan of the Smurfs, there was a lot to like about the movie understanding the series.
Same with games, some of my favorite games aren't anywhere near a 100 on Metacritic, yet, I still think they're great games to play, and have fun playing them.
I don't want to come off as rude or mean, because I'm not, this person seems to treat critics' opinions as if they were fact. I know you joked around about people who liked Cars 2 awhile back, there's a big difference between having some fun, and just being plain disrespectful over liking a movie.
FWIW, the only Jurassic Park I remember is the original, I don't even think I've seen any more beyond that. Again, always been more of an animation kind of guy.

After watching it I tend to agree with @steventonysmith as the scene isn’t played for tension and release or cheesy fun plus with the way it’s filmed with a fixed angle it takes out the kinetic energy from a spinny jumpy girl kicking a dinosaur. She also kills the dinosaur which goes against how the Jurassic Park films work, they are not about the hu-mans fighting the dinosaurs but surviving the dinosaurs.
All this JP talk reminds me of an article I read a few years ago that was ranking all the franchise's kids by how useful/resourceful they were, then it completely snubs the kid from JPIII (in spite of the fact that he managed to survive alone for weeks), based on the fact that it was the "worst" film.
I think they gave all the top spots to the girls (with raptor kicking girl being #1, Lex being #2 because of getting the park systems back online, & the Fallen Kingdom girl at #3 because she ensured the franchise's future by releasing the dinos at the end, plus it was cool that she was a clone as well, which again is sort of ignoring what they were supposed to be ranking them on in the first place), while they put all the boys at the bottom.
Fair enough when it comes to Jurassic World's boys & the younger brother from the first film as they didn't really do much, but JPIII kid should have easily been ranked over Fallen Kingdom girl for a top 3 spot.

I'll have to go ahead and disagree with you on Bladerunner 2049. There is a lot of great stuff in there - the visuals, sense of place, most of the performances. But I found a lot of the film wanting, and, in some instances, not internally logical.
The original Bladerunner - in all its myriad forms - ticks loads of boxes for me for being a truly great film (not least imperial phase Harrison Ford), but the sequel, I thought a huge disappointment.
@Jump - It was a shame those diary extracts were highly selective towards the Potter films, although the amount of casual name-dropping was astonishing. Especially as it seemed to confirm that Rickman was as lovely as he appeared. I do agree that reading criticism of yourself in a publically-availble private diary of someone deceased can only be unpleasant.
@Rambler I think you described Denis Villeneuve in general for me, he’s really great but there’s something missing. I’m still befuddled about Sicario, people were talking about like it’s the bees knees whilst I just thought it was alright and Dune was really good but the ending was an ad break but then didn’t came back on air.
Arrival was cool though, it’s like Contact without the silly ending of an random alien declaring he’s your papa like The Empire Strikes Back.
@jump
I thought Dune was good, but it was a fairly straightforward adaptation and, I think, lacked any of the subtexts. But we shall see if in the second part they tackle ecology, white saviours, and false gods.
But, compared to the utterly nuts Lynch version, it's a little boring? Which is pretty good going for a book about taking so many drugs that you can see into the future (plus they missed out the bit about the drug you take to help you dance...).
Just realised I've not seen Arrival or Sicario, but I thought I had...
Just got back from watching the Avatar theatrical re-release in 3D!
I've always thought the movie was just okay, however finally seeing it in 3D blew me away. Many scenes are absolutely magical (it really gets going during their first excursion into the jungle), and the big final climactic battle is just so much more engaging in 3D. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say this tops Top Gun: Maverick as the most exhilarating big screen theatrical experience I've had this year.
They also added on a scene from the sequel during the credits (a character I'm assuming is one of Jake & Neytiri's kids swimming with a whale like creature after removing a harpoon from one of it's fins), which was breathtaking.
This is amazing. To promote the movie Smile they sent actors from the film to be in the crowd of baseball games to just wear a sinister smile the entire time.
@jump That would have creeped the living #### out of me, no kidding, that so creative, I wish more films marketing department try’d to be more unique. Just marketing in general.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

Really good film, alot better than the first ever resi film. I just thought after the film was over, that it was made useing computers, or was it.
