My only problem with that feature length movie is that it has a few plot holes. For example, the main character looks almost identical to that well known actor who appears in some other feature length movies as well as television programmes, but none of the characters even acknowledged that, which was very unrealistic and really ruined the immersion for me.
I wish next feature length movie is short and sweet with all the sprinkles of fanfare throughout the motion picture. Maybe 45 other feature length movies could come from it all connected together with actors and state of the art effects to create a long stretched out plot filled fanfare movie that does not end until they do it all over again.
Do you think any of the MCU actors took their gigs too early? I mean, who accepted role offers that were worse than they could have gotten. A couple come to mind for me. Meds Mikkelson played the villain in Doctor Strange. I had completely forgotten that until I rewatched it recently. I was like holy cow it's Mads Mikkelson! It's a main villain role, and canonically he could technically return, but it seems pretty weak for his acting capabilities. The other is Gemma Chan. She played an alien sniper in Captain Marvel (and Guardians?). In her case, however, Feige recognized his error and brought her back in a much bigger role.
@Gryffin You make it sound like the goal of every actor is to star in a Marvel rather than seeing it as a nice residual check for the rest of their life.
Considering what the average Marvel fan is like casting Mads as Mr Fantastic or whoever they would just complain about his accent. Corporate Disney already made X-Men woke and now they are casting foreigners, back in my day they casted real Americans like Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth to play American heroes like Wolverine and Thor! Then again it's Disney so maybe they can spend loads to CGI his accent out.
Yeah the MCU films are a bit like the Harry Potter films - get some quality actors to dick about in funny costumes. They bring the acting chops and therefore help make the films watchable, and they get a big pay day.
Really not interested in Thor love and thunder. I will still probably go see it, but that has more to do with hanging out with my brother and sister for a afternoon, rather than the movie itself.
In season six of Arrow, the best line in TV history was born. “ This doesn’t change anything, hoss.”
@Rambler It's not even a new trick for superhero films, they over spent loads to make sure Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando were in Batman and Superman to give them credibility.
I'm hoping for new dubbed versions of Guy Ritchie films, I'm from London but I don't even understand half the cockney slang in them.
For some reason, it seems it has become cool to hate on the MCU and superhero movies in general lately. I don't get it. I get a ton of enjoyment out of the genre, especially the MCU.
Can't wait to see Thor: Love and Thunder tomorrow.
@Tremblucay Nah people have been complaining about them before even the non-covid days.
I like superhero films but it’s so boring talking about them. One part as everyone calls themselves a comic book fan but have never actually
read a comic book so trying to have discussion meets a dead end as people only know the wiki summary or whatever the 5min Youtube vid they watched mentioned and two they are family fun blockbusters so you’re meant to eat popcorn say that was really good and then move on whilst a legit amazeball Marvel thing like Legion which does warrant endless analysis and discussion is ignored for the lack of jaunty costumes.
Anyways the comic book adaption I want is Love & Rockets.
I'm sure that a great film could be done of the early-mid 80s run. Jaime's stuff might be more cinematic than Gilbert's maybe
@jump
Maybe people have been complaining for some time now, but I only recently started to notice it.
You're right though that most people who watch comic book movies have never read a comic in their life, and I'm one of them. But the comics and the movies are two seperate things. There's no reason to have read the comics while discussing the movies. The MCU takes characters and general ideas from the comics, but they're no straight adaptations.
Also, I've been a part of an online chat group and we talk lots about the MCU such as where the different story threads are leading to in the future, what all the hints might mean, when and how the X-Men might be introduced,... there's tons of discussions to get into.
@Rambler The funny thing if you buy a shirt at a silly place like H&M or Top Shop chances are the band are actually getting a cut of the money but if you got to the cheesy rock stall in the market chances are they are bootleg.
Although saying that I have seen the greatest bootleg band shirt ever which I'm in two minds about getting for myself!
