@HotGoomba I've just checked and it's still written and directed by Rian Johnson, who was already working on it before Netflix bought the rights to it, so I'm not too concerned about the quality. I don't have Netflix though so I'll be disappointed if it doesn't get a cinema and/or DVD release (some Netflix films have done so I think it's fairly likely this one will).
Come on Nintendo, give us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
Just how good is Finding Nemo? I've seen it a few times, but it really is so inventive, funny, and fast paced. I feel like recent Pixar films that I've seen, while still good don't seem to have the exuberance of the earlier ones.
(You could make a case that Nemo's mother is fridged at the start of the film, but its probably more of a shortcut for the setup)
Peacock added The Bad Guys to its service tonight, and watched it. Spoiler-free opinion, I loved it! It was fun, and had some twists and turns.
Actual spoiler stuff, don't click if you plan to watch this one. I will say, it did feel a bit predictable. Marmalade being the actual villain, and the mystery character who broke out the bad guys being Diane Foxington, still fun twists nonetheless. The one twist I didn't see coming, was Snake swapping the actual meteor with the lamp, I did not see that one coming. His attitude was convincing.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
All4 currently have Wings Of Desire / Heaven Over Berlin / Himmel Uber Berlin on their roster, probably due to its cinema re-release.
It's the story of an angel falling in love with a trapeze artist in 1980s West Berlin. Beautiful cinematography and music (including a performance by Crime and the City Solution!), interspersed with WWII footage.
Amusingly, the main characters is played by Bruno Ganz. So he went from playing an angel, to playing, well, Hitler (Downfall).
Have any of you seen Knives Out? It's a really good whodunnit, but I'm horrified for the Netflix sequel. If not handled correctly, it could be absolutely horrible.
But anyways, go watch Knives Out if you haven't.
I'm only seeing this now that I'm back from my trip, but yes, yes, ALL OF MY YES. I watched this on a school trip when it first came out and the film actually froze right before the ending, leaving me in the dark for about half a year on what the conclusion actually was. However, my sisters managed to get it on a projector at home so we could finally watch it (they had never seen it you see) and needless to say, even though it had been that long since I had seen it originally, the ending still had my jaw on the floor. The fact that a movie can still utterly captivate me when I had already seen most of it beforehand just goes to show how good it is. Can't wait for the upcoming sequel!

Watched National Lampoon's European Vacation the other day.
It's still worth a few laughs, but it really isn't as good as the first. I think it's actually stronger towards the beginning (particularly during the England & French segments), but falls apart towards the end. Absolutely worst version of Audrey (the daughter) though (she just spends the entire movie complaining about getting fat, in the laziest teenage girl writing ever).

Saw Lightyear today. Decent animated sci fi flick. Bit of an oddball creatively. I imagine it's too much scifi and not enough toy story for kiddos (unless your 5 year old loves stories about time dilation) and it's too cartoony and derivitive to stand on its own as a scifi movie.

Started watching Under The Skin last night, but had to turn it off as it was getting late and it was really unnerving. That bit with the baby was genuinely horrific.
It was very professionally done as you didn't even see the mic boom or anything in the shots. The film had several writers and you can tell as there's was lots of actors talking to each other during the film. I'm pretty sure there was a special effect in it too, I will need to rewatch it to double check though. The acting was really good as the actress responded to her character's name really naturally and she didn't stop to remember her lines. It was very clever at the end when the credits rolled, they had music playing so it's not just you reading. It was a good film so I give it 9 out of 10 Oscars, it just needed a plot twist to get the 10th Oscar like once the credits have finished then suddently there's another movie.
@Rambler I remember I was the pub watching two people discuss Under The Skin as they gave two very different opinions. One person was Scottish who kept talking about how at the same time it was so real and unreal to him and found it so unnerving but the other one was women who pointed out the idea of it that a demure looking woman hunting men is what makes it's so creepy so for her it's not as unnerving as it's intended to be. My big contribution to this discussion was asking if anyone wanted something in the next round.
My only problem with that feature length movie is that it has a few plot holes. For example, the main character looks almost identical to that well known actor who appears in some other feature length movies as well as television programmes, but none of the characters even acknowledged that, which was very unrealistic and really ruined the immersion for me.
Come on Nintendo, give us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
I wish next feature length movie is short and sweet with all the sprinkles of fanfare throughout the motion picture. Maybe 45 other feature length movies could come from it all connected together with actors and state of the art effects to create a long stretched out plot filled fanfare movie that does not end until they do it all over again.
Do you think any of the MCU actors took their gigs too early? I mean, who accepted role offers that were worse than they could have gotten. A couple come to mind for me. Meds Mikkelson played the villain in Doctor Strange. I had completely forgotten that until I rewatched it recently. I was like holy cow it's Mads Mikkelson! It's a main villain role, and canonically he could technically return, but it seems pretty weak for his acting capabilities. The other is Gemma Chan. She played an alien sniper in Captain Marvel (and Guardians?). In her case, however, Feige recognized his error and brought her back in a much bigger role.
@Gryffin You make it sound like the goal of every actor is to star in a Marvel rather than seeing it as a nice residual check for the rest of their life.
Considering what the average Marvel fan is like casting Mads as Mr Fantastic or whoever they would just complain about his accent. Corporate Disney already made X-Men woke and now they are casting foreigners, back in my day they casted real Americans like Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth to play American heroes like Wolverine and Thor! Then again it's Disney so maybe they can spend loads to CGI his accent out.
