That doesn't give him a pass for making a pointless Kickstarter that took attention away from decent/great ones that deserve backers, using funds in a way that wasn't advertised and using some of the funds to start a business.
Also. People donated to him with no intention of giving to the poor/hungry, which says a lot about the backers.

It doesn't matter what the backers are for or against. There's nothing in the Kickstarter clause that says he's obligated to use the extra money for the project. He could've pocketed the extra cash but instead he is giving something back to the community.
really? then he's fine. if people gave money, he did the project through the end and there's no rule saying all the money needs to be used in the project, there shouldn't be any objections to potato salad.
