Topic: Genshin Impact vs. Immortals Fenyx Rising

I discussed this with a friend recently and thought it would be a good discussion to have.
Also, since Immortals Fenyx Rising is releasing soon, I figured now would the best time to discuss this.

• That being said, do you have more interest in Genshin Impact or Immortals Fenyx Rising?

@SM3DASislit I have more interest in Immortals. However, I'm waiting to see how Immortals looks & runs on the Switch. I'm cautious with cross platform games.

Both of these are BOTW clones.

And BotW cloned a lot of ideas that Ubisoft was using long before Nintendo. Who cares?
Be nice if we could discuss these games without this irrelevant statement being made every other post.

Okay, that makes sense, being cautiously optimistic with Immortals Fenyx Rising because of the performance concerns, and because it's a cross platform game.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you have more interest in Immortals Fenyx Rising?

And BOTW is a Skyrim clone, your point being????

@SM3DASislit Because, Immortals is made by Assassin's Creed devs and took some inspiration from Breath of the Wild. I saw a review for Genshin Impact, and it seemed shallow & flawed - they did say fun, but I'm not feeling it.

Well he was trying to be subtle with why these were being compared.

For the record, we should probably wait for both of these games to be released games first.

If Genshin Impact had have been a paid game without the free-to-play gacha stuff then I probably would have been interested in it but I can't deal with that so Immortals Fenyx Rising is the only one of the two I intend on playing.

@WoomyNNYes it’s Ubisoft so it will be super buggy for the first month.

This is me too. Genshin did entice me at first, but I quickly lost interest with the f2p gacha.
Fenyx Rising looks like great fun and I'm fine with optional post-game DLC.

Don't like gacha games and Ubisoft open-worlders don't appeal to me. So out of the two, I'm picking Breath of the Wild.

BoTW is just a Far Cry clone with breakable swords instead of guns. Nintendo just stuck Zelda characters into a pretty generic open world sandbox - it's essentially Just Cause without the grappling hook!

I'm intrigued by Immortals but after spending so much time playing Odyssey I'm not sure im ready to start another Ubi game set in ancient Greece, and I'm not sure how its going to perform on switch. Will probably pick it up in the spring sales.
Genshin is quite fun for a f2p but the microtransactions are a little heavy handed and I got bored quickly.

Who was the reviewer? I'm asking because I've heard (mostly) good things about Genshin Impact.

@SM3DASislit Oh, you'd like to know that, wouldn't you! 😠(🤪) It was ign review via youtube. They gave it a 9. I guess it's the free to play format that is turning me away.

It's amazing how free to play completely tarnishes a game. Free to play just casts a dishonest vibe on games, knowing they could have made a regular retail game that stands on it's own without micro transactions, but a company chose to go the drug dealer/casino route.

Yeah, I get that and some games definitely learn more toward the more aggressive F2P style. However, if you don't spend any money (or very little) have fun with the game and don't feel pressured by the game to spend money, then I would consider it a win-win situation.
Also, I can't tell if I made you upset with asking about the reviewer, as you did 2 conflicting emoji's, which made me really confused.

Okay, that's good. It's totally fine.
I figured that was the case, but I wasn't quite sure.
Also, with the internet being "the internet", sometimes it's hard to tell how people react to certain things.

I figured that we since knew enough about Immortals, (since Genshin Impact has already released), we should have a Forum about both of them.
