Topic: Games You'd Like to See in HD 2D? (Octopath Style)

@iLikeUrAttitude I… like the style they went for in the remake, but it left a bit to be desired for me. I love the original sprite-based graphics, so the switch to the 3D style looks a little weird to me. I think HD-2D is a great way to keep the classic assets but still make it look modern.

As cool as HD-2D is, Advance Wars is one game I at first, thought would be cool for it. But then I asked myself, would I pay 60 bucks to see these games with this style as much as I would for the actual remake? And the answer is obviously no.

It'd still be cool, but if it just enhances the pre-existing sprites, that's not something I wanna pay full price for (though to be fair, I don't want to buy most remakes of games I own).

Reading back there a lot of requests for FF6 in HD 2D. I can see why though.

I think its because its so obvious. Octopath looks in enough ways like those old FF games, its by SE and VI is the most beloved of the older Final Fantasys.

Xenogears is, for me, the most interesting call so far, so I’m going to double down and say Xenosaga, but an HD remake of the DS version which compressed the story into a single title.

I get the calls for FFVI, but the pixel remaster is coming out any minute now, so I think that’ll have to do. And Square needs to stop going back to the same wells all the time. DQIII was the perfect choice for its back catalogue for an HD2D remake. Although, imagine how pretty Vagrant Story could look…

@iLikeUrAttitude I think 3D would be better, since the original also had that camera movement where you could scope out different areas by circling it around the character. So either they do a remake with that 2D HD style where you can also revolve the camera or they just straight up make it 3D which i would appreciate a lot more.
As long as the graphical style doesn't become something like Bravely Default 2, i would totally be fine with it though.
The real dream here would be a fully fleshed out story though, like especially putting gameplay and more details into the second disk to really make the game shine again.
If they decide to remake this, there is not even that much to screw up i think
