It's Loser Showdown time. Tell us the gaming items you've lost along the way. It doesn't necessarily have to be totally written off as 'Lost', 'Missing' things makes you a loser too!

There are 3 items that spring to mind for me. I've recently been trying to get my bloated collection all in one place and semi-organised, but the following I just can't find and it's doing my head in:

  • Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition (Wii - JAP) - this never got a PAL release but I saw a Japanese copy on eBay and decided to get it just for the soundtrack CD that came with. A few weeks after I'd bought it (during a period when I was acquiring a lot of used games and stashing them all over the joint so my SO wouldn't find them all) I couldn't find it, but I could visualise opening the package when it arrived. I hunted everywhere, then I asked the seller for proof of postage because I had no option mentally but to begin to doubt whether it had actually ever arrived and I was just visualising the eBay listing photos. The seller couldn't provide any tracking details, but it was too late for me to claim as a missing item. So I'm stuck in this eternal purgatory of uncertainty about whether I've lost it or the seller did me over. Aaaaarrrgghhhhh!
  • Forza 7 disc - This I actually had. For sure. I've played it on my XB1X. Which I've hardly used, so how it's gone missing, IDK. The obvious answer was that I'd stuck the disc in another game case while swapping discs sometime, but I've checked all my other Xbox cases and it's not in any of them. WTF can it have got to? Aaaaarrrgghhhhh!
  • A black Wii - Yes, I've somehow lost a whole console! How do you lose a whole console? I'd bought it as a backup to my og white Wii, having seen it going ridiculously cheap and fully boxed. Not sure I've ever used it but I wanted to get it out this week because I've been having disc read issues on my other Wii hardware. I crawled up into the loft where I knew the box was and... no ****ing console in the box! I'm sure it was there when I bought it, but it was ages years ago now. Where is it? Aaaaarrrgghhhhh!

I donated my NDS game Jake Power Policeman to a game shop owner on late December 2014 due to lost interest with the game after finished the storyline in 30 minutes. I thought it was very ridiculous game with very short time to be finished.

But now i regret to donate Jake Power Policeman to someone else after 6 years later. I decided to buy another Jake Power series on year 2020 and have finished the storyline (30 minutes again). I keep the game as i want to get the trilogy series of Jake Power.

I have this club nintendo 18-game case that I keep always filled with games.

Well, several years ago, during the DSi era, it disappeared completely after a trip. My top-18 favorite DS games, all gone, just like that.

About 9-so months later, it reappeared behind a bookshelf after we moved it. Somehow it ended up there, probably misplaced it after we unpacked or something. But I blame goblins.

And that's the story of why I have two copes of Pokemon White 2.

@Anti-Matter I've no idea how that counts as losing the game, but I would say that buying that game not once, but twice, definitely makes you a loser in my eyes 🤣😛 Thanks for sharing 😁

@Anti-Matter Donating an item is definitely not the same as accidentally displacing it

That'd be like saying donating money to charity counted as you being in debt lmao

I lost my temper playing Desert Strike on the Megadrive, and hit the Megadrive so hard that I lost the Megadrive. Desert Strike was fine though, as I found out months later when I was eventually able to afford a replacement console.

@Lordplops You may have possibly wandered into the wrong thread. I think you may be looking for the 'Some gamers are rage-quitting nutjobs' thread.

Thanks for sharing though. F for your of Mega Drive.

And P.S. Desert Strike pretty much had the same effect on me. Could never like that game.

I lost my copy of Mega Man ZX Advent years ago. I have no clue where it ended up.

Good thing Capcom released that MM Zero/ZX collection. lol

@Eel I keep telling myself that's how I'm going to find my Kirby game. But I'm running out of things it could possibly be behind at this point. About my only remaining hope is that it fell down in the void behind some tall kitchen units and in the years to come when they eventually get pulled down someone will find it. But perhaps if I removed the plinth board I may be able to access there...

I'm glad you got some closure on your loss.

I had a Silver GBA SP with Mario Kart Super Circuit in it. I know I bought the two at some point cause I have the boxes and I remember playing the GBA and MKSC. But I never found them even after moving out of the house I was living in at the time surely I thought I would find them behind a piece of furniture or something. I have a suspicion that the girl I was living with at the time her brother's friend stole it but the thing is everyone suspected him of stealing so whenever I wasn't around In would lock my door to my room. So either he picked the lock and stole it or it just vanished.

Around the time I had the GBA disappear I had a GameCube game also disappear. I don't remember the name but it was a racing game where you were a taxi but it wasn't Crazy Taxi it was something else. Anyway I know I owned it at one time cause it was my son's favorite game at the game and also my GC memory card has the save files on it still to this day. But I haven't seen the game in years.

Final Fantasy VI Advanced. This one is another mystery. I remember buying it, I even have the box for it but the game I don't have. I even vaguely remember playing it on the GBA, not as clear as.the games I mentioned before it mind you but yeah total mystery as to what happened to that game.

Off the top of my head, the only gaming things I've lost I believe are a copy of Megaman 64 and Pac Pix. Megaman 64 I lost in my dad's apartment, somehow. There's no reason I would've moved it away from where the N64 and games always were there so I have no idea how that even happened. Less surprised I lost a DS game, but it was also weird because I guess I must've been playing Pax Pix and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow somewhere once. Because I have the box for Pac Pix but the cartridge for Castlevania, so I assume my lost copy of Pac Pix is in the Dawn of Sorrow box I no longer have.

I lost the big box for my copy of Earthbound. It went missing about 10 years ago, probably during a move. It didn't bother me as much at the time.

Oh, and lost the stupid disc to the stupid gameboy advance player for my stupid gamecube. But I've moved on.

One of my cases full of 20+ 3DS games completely disappeared, never to be seen again. Not sure how or where I lost it but it never turned up.

Also remember my Gameboy Color being stolen out of the glovebox of my Dad's locked car while we were out in the city when I was a young kid. He bought me a new one the same day.

I've mentioned this in another thread, and not exactly "lost" but it still stings, but my older brother and I had the entire collection of Nintendo Power magazines, even from when it was still called Nintendo Fun Club Magazine or something like that before they changed the name. We didn't track them down and collect them or anything, we had subscribed from the beginning and kept them for no apparent reason. They were all in drawers under my bed when I went to college. When I came back home for Christmas break, my mom had thrown them all away. It was a quite sad.

@gcunit the Gameboy and ps1 stuff was. But the Sega stuff i brought to a friend's house when I was like 9 or 10 and to this day he swears up and down he doesn't have it. I know he's lying!

I also lost my Game Boy Color years ago when I was like what, 8 or 9? I remember bringing it with me when I went to summer camp, that was as far as I can remember. I did retain most of my games though.

This is a case where a "click bait" title led to a pleasant surprise. I admit I couldn't resist seeing what this was about, so the bait worked, but it was a pleasant surprise seeing what it was about and how it ties into the thread title. Well played.

I was a happy Saturn owner when it was current. Sometimes, when you lend games to friends you never get them back. And I have been on both sides of that. I might actually have someone else's copy of Super Mario 3 and Pro Wrestling on the NES. Unfortunately, I've lost several high-dollar Saturn games, long before they had any resale value. I lent one friend Albert Odyssey and never got it back. I managed to right that wrong and bought another copy for a relatively small amount of money, and it was together with Magic Knight Rayearth which means a winner is me. But I also ended up on the losing end of things in another case where I let a friend borrow Burning Rangers and Shining Force 3, both part of that last batch of Saturn games in the US. With at least one of those games if not both, I got the box and manual back, and possibly an Anthrax CD if I remember correctly. I obviously didn't look inside until some time had passed.

I did end up on the good end of a gaming loss. Back in 1990, I became the owner of a lost DMG Game Boy with Super Mario Land which was left somewhere and, amazingly, never claimed. To this day, I've still never owned a Tetris cart.
