If you could only remake ONE game, what would it be?
For me, it would be Sonic Generations, with new levels, improved graphics, and more customization options (like the Tonics in Yooka Laylee). Examples of these would be: Camelot Castle, 4K and 8K support (for consoles that have it), and an option that makes the Classic Sonic levels 16-bit.

Directed completely by Hideaki Itsuno and remade from the ground up in the RE Engine sharing the QoL gameplay additions and tweaks from DMC3 onwards along with A.I. for enemies that isn't literally inept
Also MGS1 by Bluepoint Games for PS5 after they're done with Demon's Souls

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: removing field skills and Merc missions, completely redoing the English script and voice-over, changing the gatcha mechanics for acquiring blades into a crafting mechanic, making Tiger Tiger less grindy,...
There's a lot I don't like about that game, even though I really wanted to love it.
@Shulkalot I couldn't stand the story of XC2. I completely hate the cast for that game and the amount of fanservicey moments like having a blade with big ass boobs and the whole Rex sleeping in between someone's breasts things basically prevented me from taking that story even remotely seriously.
That game also loves to pull the "win in gameplay, lose in cutscene" tactic a lot

Yeah, the story and characters weren't the best either. I still enjoyed the combat and exploration aspect, sans field skills of course, but overall it was a major letdown from previous instalments.
@Shulkalot The gameplay itself is fine excluding the confusing as hell menus but in terms of story it might've been the single most disappointing JRPG I played possibly this decade

By the way, if you haven't tried the original XC yet, I highly recommend it. It's my all-time favorite game and it got even better on Switch.
@Shulkalot Oh I own both XC1 on New 3DS and the Switch DE as well. XC is a masterful JRPG with one of my favorite RPG casts, which is why XC2 was so disappointing to me to begin with

@kkslider5552000 Honestly I don't think the open world format can adapt well to such a strictly timed game like Majora's Mask, especially if the game is in real time. MM's more linear design by comparison works because it adds to the pressure of always being on the move with a clear objective in mind, whereas in open world games the objectives become a lot more open ended and you have a looser idea of how much of the world you've actually covered.

True enough.
I still want to see an attempt though. At the very least, to see what they would even do to try to make it work. Tbh, while I definitely don't want constant BOTW sized Zelda games all the time (take your time, BOTW2 team!), I'd be interested in various takes of talking older Zelda games' setting and story and unique elements and remaking them in BOTW's style in one way or another. Or at the very least, making a smaller game that still adds some BOTW mechanics to change up the original game (kinda like how some updated, slightly more modern and weirder game ideas were used to make ALBW not feel just like LTTP again).
The Sims 1 from PC to console version with graphics like The Sims 4, Full 3D but still same gameplay as original The Sims 1 with all Expansion Packs in one game.

The Mother series would be perfect for a remake and Link's Awakening is the perfect example of how to do it. I would make the art style look a bit more like claymation though, to reflect the original artwork of EarthBound.
