it's impossible to go thru the desert without him. So what was Jenna doing in the desert? Busy being kidnapped. Such a shame they couldn't pick a better damsel-in-distress. As for Piers, he's so useless you can beat the game without him if you had Frost and Douse gems, if they were in the second game.......what was the point of those things again?

You mean Piers from America's Got Talent? Just kidding.

You can get through the damn desert without him. Camelot just didn't want their series bishounen to be completely useless, so they added those BS restrictions to annoy people. Seriously, I would have gone through the game without Ivan if at all possible. He's just a bunch of dead weight in battle and not particularly useful outside of it.

Jenna's role as damsel-in-distress is perfect, because without her Isaac doesn't have any reason to go after Saturos and Menardi. Not a single one. You think he's really in it to save Kraden? Please, not a chance. To save the world? Hell no. He's pissed 'cause those two took his girl, and that's the only reason he left on the journey. Jenna is the most important character in the entire game, hands down. Nobody else is needed, just her.

@TC: I cannot tell you my true feelings on the matter. This is war, and therefore all rationality is thrown out and we duke it out one-on-one.

Besides, lz called Jenna Miss *****-a-lot, that's a damn sight worse than what I said about Ivan.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Guys! Don't make me post a sound video of Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger. It's my favorite theme from any RPG character so far, and you all can't resist a good Rick Astley-soundalike.

But I also like Jenna, she's so caring.

At that point had the story allowed it you would have been able to recruit Sheba to your party, but they wanted her for the sequel and wanted Ivan to remain, so they made up some BS about Saturos kidnapping her and made it impossible. Like I said, this is all Camelot trying to make him useful when he really isn't.

Actually, Ivan is my second best party member right now. mmm I haven't play with Jenna... fearfully turns towards PhoenixSage but I'm sure she is pretty cool as a party member too.

Doesn't mean she couldn't learn how. She's a much faster learner than that useless meat-sack you call a favorite character.

Oh, Master Hama can't teach it to Sheba after you return to the temple and tell her that her little brother was brutally murdered at the hands of your enemies (actually by your hands, but you don't want to say it, even if she can read your minds. )? She'd realize he wasn't very useful either and re-teach it to Sheba.

Oh hey, and what about Feizhi? She had developing Jupiter powers, why couldn't she have been in your party? A sweet female monk with Jupiter powers; that would have been so many trillions of times cooler than Ivan, and it fits so perfectly.

Seems like I'm not the only one who seemingly remembers every moment from a great RPG [cough Chrono Trigger cough] I have played and replayed a lot. Nice! Golden Sun, I presume, Mr. Sage?

Yes indeedy. I've played that game through more times than I can remember, and probably poured upwards of a 1000 hours into it. I know it pretty much by heart now.

Except I still need to get Endings 12 and 13, and two DS exclusive endings. Fighting Lavos a lot can be a real experience, especially when New Game + just dissipates all difficulty to nothingness.

I like Chrono Trigger quite a bit too. I still need to get all the endings for it, but like you said, New Game + takes all the difficulty away and makes getting the endings a bit tedious imo. It's kind of boring pwning the entire way through the game.

@Phoenix: Sigh You know, Jenna didn't HAVE to learn Blaze. Garet was in the party at the time, but Camelot felt sorry for her. After Garet joined, there was absolutely no point for her.
