When I was four years old my mother introduced me to her Atari 2600. The first game I ever played was Combat. She wiped the floor with me and I've been engaged with the hobby ever since. We followed Combat by playing several of the classics, Space Invaders, Ms. Pac-Man, Berzerk, Jungle Hunt, Asteroids, Frogger, Centipede, etc.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,247 games (as of April 15th, 2024)

Pong on Atari 2600. Yeah I'm old. As for my first Nintendo game none other than the original super mario bros. It was like magic the first time i picked up a videogame controller! I pushed a button and the blocky thing on the TV moved at my command and i was like, What sorcery is this?! Been hooked ever since!
Mickey's Dangerous Chase on my Gameboy Pocket that my brother gifted me once he got his Gameboy Color. I was four years old and didn't even know it was something I'd be interested in, but it was something we did together and we still bond over to this day. The Mickey Mouse games from that era were surprisingly good (or I have nostalgia glasses).
The Legend of Zelda on the NES. I was way too young to grasp the concept or even read the manual but I loved how you could just walk around the world forever without even accomplishing anything
@HyrulesHero42 I did the same when I played LoZand OoT. I was pretty young when I played LoZ so all I did was run around shooting arrows at enemies and slashing away. I had no clue what was going on but I loved it.
@NintendoByNature such good times wasn't it? Then you accidentally stumble upon a dungeon and you go through a complete mental and emotional change haha
Altough I was born in the mid 80s the first game I remember playing is Wolfenstein 3d when I visited some family that had a PC. One or two years later I got a mega drive and played Sonic the hedgehog to death though
I remember some kind of typing game in my first year of school, where you had to hit the right key to keep a mouse ahead of the cat chasing it.
First real game, though, was probably Dare Devil Dennis on a friend’s BBC Micro. First game at home may have been something like Mutant Monty on an Amstrad.
Glad to see other people on the forums as old as me!
TMNT, Little Mermaid, Circus, Tetris and Duck Hunt. My granddad got me and my cousins each a Famicom unit for xmas and we took turns on the cartridges. My 2 other cousins were girls so they weren't so interested and I ended up owning all the games eventually.
Disregarding the free games on our Windows PC like Solitaire and Pinball, the first game I played was Pokemon Blue. I had no idea how to leave the house in the beginning until my sister helped me out. I also couldn't properly read back then so I didn't know how to save and I had to restart everytime I quit the game. In a way Pokemon Blue was my first roguelike
Truthfully, I am not 100% sure, but normally the first game I think of when I hear this question is Donkey Kong Country 3 because I remember my mum being getting a hold of a SNES with a load of games years ago and DKC3 being the first one played. That said, I also remember having a Master System and playing Sonic the Hedgehog, so I am unsure which came first; all I know is of these games was my first.
