But their OS UI is so much more superior to crappy Windows. It's sleeker, faster, more reliable BY FAR, and it doesn't get viruses.
Windows 10 is spying crap, imo. Their only decent OS was Windows 7, which is now on its deathbed. XP was OK too, though. I haven't even started on Apple's hardware design. Anybody will admit they completely blow Acer, Dell, VAIO, etc. out of the water on that front. Micro$oft is a POS on customer service, I've got stories and experience to prove it, and you never hear any CS complaints like that from Apple's people. Apple's premium price points are their only weak point, though for what they're competing against and what you're really getting with each purchase, it's worth it.
I don't know for the life of me why people consistently prefer Windows to OS X, it's a mystery to me.
(No, price should not determine a computer's worth and value.)
Off-topic: @iGen: While it's true that OS X contracts less viruses, it isn't immune to them. Part of the reason why Windows gets more viruses is because of the Registry. I agree with you about Windows 10, though some of the "spyware" features can be opted out of in the settings. Still, I'm sticking with Windows 7 as long as I can.
My problem isn't so much with OS X as it is with Apple in general. They charge way too much for what's really there under the hood, and it's getting to the point where some of their "innovations" are just plain silly. No headphone jack just to make a phone design slimmer? And a lot of their devices don't run with common peripherals that work on everything else; you need to buy their expensive, proprietary headphones, chargers, etc.
Macs are good for graphics design, music software, and other artsy things, but I find both the Windows and Linux environments to be more suitable (and reasonably priced) for my needs.
Though I didn't say OS X & macOS are totally immune to viruses and other badware, I do agree with much of your comment. If I were CEO, there would be a headphone jack on the iPhone 7, the prices wouldn't be as high as they are, the horsepower underneath the hood would be far more formidable, there would be much more innovation and intuitity on the hardware front, and the current graphical appearance of OS X & macOS would be different. There is a reason why my current main computer is a Power Mac G5, which is being used to type this right now.
To be honest, I think a lot of people have a secret resentment towards Tim being in charge. The pathway he's driving Apple isn't a bad one, by any means, but he could have run things so much better, like, NOT fire Scott Forstall, and NOT put Jony Ive as the head of software development. That would have been a start. As least for iOS, which would have influenced OS X later down the line, anyway.
Nonetheless, Apple is still my favorite company and will likely host itself as my first job. They will forever, in my opinion, keep themselves so many leagues above Microsoft.
@iGen: Don't get me wrong, I wasn't feuding; I was merely listing my problems with a company and where I felt they were going wrong. My original post in regards to your avatar was meant to be taken with humor. I apologize if that came across differently. As you also mentioned, Apple is in need of some improvement. If they were to improve their products using a lot of your ideas, then I would view them in a better light.
