So, I seem to have stumbled upon an article I found today. About how Canadian Retailers are going to make games $65, to compensate over the worth of the Canadian Dollar. http://qsf5.com/2014/01/20/canadian-retailers-are-increasing-...
So now let's say you live in Toronto, you have to pay the 13% HST Tax
13% of 65 is $8.45
So you will now be paying $73.45 for that new Sonic game
If that doesn't make it worse, it seems that Next Gen titles are going even further and becoming $70 http://www.ebgames.ca/nintendo-wii-u/games/watch-dogs/315838 http://www.ebgames.ca/xbox-one/games/destiny-with-bonus/316932 http://www.ebgames.ca/playstation-4/games/dying-light/317657 So now, you have to pay $79.10 for Watch Dogs as opposed to the $67.80 cents from before.
And that's just Ontario. Provinces like Quebec have an even bigger tax price.
Are you okay with spending $80 on new games? Will this convince you to going digital? Do you think EB Games, and Best Buy have that right to raise the price? Please, share your thoughts.
Yeah I cannot justify paying that much for games, so I will most likely stick with digital and portable systems and get the very occasional console game.
I thought games nowadays were expensive, WII was $50 bucks so I didn't really pay (My dad payed not me) $60 for a game cause I never had an Xbox 360 or PS3. I guess we have it better in the U.S.
you guys don't know Brazil it's worse, 1st party 3DS games here are mostly R$149,90($62.33)

I remember most games in canada being more expensive then their US brother anyways in stores, unless that changed when the CAD begin to worth more then the USD years ago. Granted the last time I check retail stores first hand in canada was a year and half ago and that varied on what title it was.

But our price for games is relative compared to everything else.
At least we don't tax ontop of the purchase price.

If you buy retail from the eshop in the UK games are mostly £40 which is $66 so I avoid it like the plague buy from Amazon where prices are around £30 which is still like $50 bucks it is pretty expensive everywhere these days.

$65 Canadian Dollars = $58.75 American Dollars.
Still cheaper than the standard $60 per game here.
The big chains like EB Games, Future Shop, and Best Buy do this sort of thing all the time. Watch_Dogs is $54.99 CAD on Amazon right now. Don't know about Ontario, but in Saskatchewan, there's $2.75 GST/HST on top of that and free shipping, bringing the total to $57.74.
A Month and 2 weeks have passed and nothing's getting better.
Plenty of recent eShop games have been hiked 10% more than its counterpart, Nintendo's recent games like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy and Yoshi's New Island are $5 more. Yes, that would mean your 3DS games have been hiked at 12.5%.
You know what else has been hiked at 12.5%? The PS4 according to a recent flyer from The Source. The system is being sold at $449.99.
You expected a price drop over time? Well think again!
I thought Australia had regular price if you buy digital. Does this effect the online shops from the consoles themselves?
Depends where you buy.

By the end of the generation, console games are all going to be $70-80 anyway to compensate for the ridiculously out of control development costs for video games.
Gotta spend that extra $20 million and 1.5 years to squeeze in those few extra pixels!
