sometimes i'll be playing a game and I'm doing good and then I get to the final boss and just get dominated to the point where I just watch the ending cutscene or something on YouTube.

Never give up at the final boss, can be fun once you figure out how to defeat them.

Sometimes I'm not the best with online multiplayer games like Apex, but I'll still play them because I enjoy online games, especially with friends. It also makes the times winning a game more rewarding.

Also, there are times I'll peak at a walkthrough or a guide if I'm stuck in a single player game. I rarely resort to it. Some of my favorite moments in a game are those hard moments that I conquer, then replaying them are more fun since I know what to do.

@Anti-Matter xenoblade 1 I got to the final boss and my switch was dying and I was running out of time and had to leave to do something soon but I just couldn't beat it and couldn't save once I reached the final boss so i just watched the ending on YouTube bc it would take another hour to get back to the final boss once I quit

@CactusMan Doesn’t make me feel too good, I’m at Mt Gagazet!!

@MorningRain Yeah Xenoblade’s final boss is exceptionally hard if you’re not well levelled. When I played it on Wii I managed to take it down with a Lv83 party. In Definitive Edition I switched on Casual Mode to do the late game quests. I beat the game on normal difficulty but going through quests made the final boss laughably easy.

I’m not a skilled gamer at all. I’m probably never going to beat Demon’s Souls, I’m just too bad. But I’m not useless by any metric, so just middle ground.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I find with most RPGs, it's trivial by the end of the game because the armour/weapons by then kinda break the game.

However I suck at fighting games, and I play them all the time.

I suck at video games overall especially at competitive games, but I'm a bit better at grindy games.

This is circumstantial for me. If the boss seems like it's going to just require me to put together all of the move sets i've learned along the way or plan it out or choreograph it, where it's just a matter of it being fair and I just need to learn it, then I'll stick with it.
But there's been games where I get to the final boss and the game pacing had been fine, but the boss just obliterates me because I need to grind 70 more levels for no reason or the boss is actually made unfair, I'll just walk away.

If I think I suck at a game, Uh rhythm games were the ones I sucked at, till one day, I didn't want to be, and now i'm much better, Apex legends, Bad couldn't get kills, I learn'd, I have been playing games my whole life so maybe this is coming from the wrong person, but playing games your whole life doesn't make you good at them, and if your having a hard time with a boss, look up how to beat it, Its not cheating if you still have to do it.

@Sunsy I agree, apex is fun, and my wins mean much more to me in this way.

looking up how to beat a boss in my opinion isn't cheating if its not a puzzle. nor is it ever really, its whatever makes the game fun for you, and hard games are just fun for me. (Or if it just gets stupid hard then eee.)

@Snatcher I really don't consider looking at a guide or a walkthrough cheating at all. Cheats usually mean getting an advantage, like invincibility for example. I recently played through a classic PC game called Bioforge, several times I had to resort to the guide GOG included.

It helps, but it doesn't make the game a piece of cake. My character died a lot while I was playing, darn timed sequence. Short time limits are my weakness, lol.

@Sunsy But what about puzzle games? as the whole point is to figure out the puzzle.

@Snatcher To be honest, I can't think of any puzzle games that would need one. Unless it's an adventure game with puzzle elements, since those would have solutions. I can see hints and tips helping more with a puzzle game than a walkthrough.

@Snatcher
Playing rhythm games is by your ears first then by your body part (fingers, arms, hands, feet, voices, etc).
Don't look at the falling buttons without listening the music, feel the rhythm first then it will guide you to press the correspondent buttons from the beat you feel from the music.

I've always been absolute garbage at fighting games. (Like Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc.) There were many times where I would try to attack my opponent, only for my hits to not connect. I have a hard time pulling off special moves too. Like, I would try to do a Shoryuken, but it doesn't work since I did the movements wrong or something. I can do Hadokens with relative ease though.

I'm pretty bad at video games, to be honest. I always play on Easy or Normal mode when available. and I have played many games all of the way through but didn't ever beat the final boss, so I know what you're talking about.

I'm decent at Mario Kart 8. But I think that's it. I'd be no competition at all to anyone in any other game. lol. Maybe Pokemon IF my opponent isn't playing competitively. If they're playing competitively I lose completely.

I suck at Smash Bros. Even though I know my Ice Climbers desync 0 to deaths, I still lose somehow.

I don't think I've ever done specifically that, but there's enough games I've utterly failed to beat despite my best effort. But I guess to be fair, they're usually considered to be difficult games, outside of genres I'm not great at in the first place (like strategy).
