I used to watch Yu-Gi-Oh when I was younger, and I watched it at a time where I didn't know the difference between the main plot and filler, so I saw the very original series, the entire Yugi storyline, all of GX, and most of 5D's, and I remember liking all of it.. However, I have not seen Zexal, though it doesn't look all that great to me personally. Not excited for this series either. I have since gotten into Cardfight Vangard, and I like that game and anime much more.

Fun fact: The first episode of the very original series (the video on the previous page) is completely original to the anime. In the manga, Yugi instead challenges Ushio to a game where they placed a stack of money on the back of their hands and drove a knife down onto it to see how much money they could stab without cutting themselves, with the person getting to keep all of the money they stab. Ushio is about to lose and decides to turn and use the knife to kill Yugi instead, but Yugi curses him with the illusion of avarice, causing Ushio to think that random trash and leaves are money. The students at school the next day see him surrounded with trash, acting like he's a millionaire.

Is K-on worth watching?

I didn't get far, but it didn't seem like anything actually happens in that anime...I'd love it if someone could prove me wrong there, though.

Not really. I liked K-on, but only because I thought it was funny and had good music (and none of the other elements did anything particularly bad for a silly comedy anime).

It is example number 25 or so of my list of middle of the road entertainment that people pretend it worth having strong opinions of.

There was comedy? Could've fooled me.

It's just a forerunner of the "cute people are cute and do cutesy things" show which there seems to be at least two of in every season now. The music is good though. Out of KyoAni's school comedy trio, I'd probably go Nichijou > Lucky Star > K-on , even though I guess it's not a fair comparison since they're all different.

If you want to watch it for the music though, I highly recommend BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. That one has realistic character development, an actual plot and a better payoff at the end. Plus they don't sit around for a few weeks and suddenly gain the ability to play in time. Being in a band is hard work, yo.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

@Intrepid Nope the Ushio story is basically the same in the anime and the manga. From what i can recall they added an extra episode with Honda/Tristans crush and they toned down the violence of the end of the Prisoner who had Anzu/Tea hostage in the anime.

I was just gonna mention Card fight vanguard myself. Im on like episode 8 so im still new to the series.

Just watched the English dub for Summer Wars. Honestly, I think it was one of my favorite movies ever, not just anime. The plot was interesting, and stuff never stayed alright for too long, which kept me invested throughout. I would highly recommend it to anyone on here that hasn't watched it already.

@ELI-ASH You sure? I have the first chapter right here, and they are playing the knife & money game in it:

As for Vanguard, I hope you like it. I really like the series, and Aichi does get some nice character development as time goes on. I'm halfway through Link Joker right now, but I kind of forgot about it for awhile. I guess I'll have to play catch-up again.

Hmmm, since I loved Lucky Star I've considered K-On,but I think I'd rather give Azumanga Diaoh a run.

I didn't think Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W was that bad. The first season was a lot worse in my opinion.

Apparently I did watch the first season, I'm not sure why I keep calling it Nyaruko-San W. I meant Another Crawling Chaos, without the W. Otherwise that would mean I watched it out of order.

BTW...is the first season of Medaka Box at least...tolerable? Because the second season looks really interesting, but I have a bad feeling about the first season...

I haven't watched Medaka Box but from what I've read you're better off with the manga. Although, some reviews say that the manga lasted longer than it should have.

I finished watching Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) yesterday, and I have to say I'm glad I decided not to drop the series. Skip the sixth episode if you want (it's pretty much a filler), everything else was worth watching imo.

I decided to give K-On! a try today and found it to be a pretty fun anime to watch. The first ending song is nice.

One anime recommendation I received this week that I didn't like was Hidan no Aria (Aria the Scarlett Ammo). I stopped watching after the eight episode when I realized the show wasn't entertaining me at all. I guess if you're a fan of firearms, supernatural powers, and folk legends then this series might be of some interest to you.

I'm a fan of all of those things. I don't recall liking Scarlet Ammo, either. It's just a lame fanservicey harem anime disguised as a Girls-with-guns show. The fights were kinda cool, but it was lacking in every other area, IIRC. At least it was short...

Medaka Box' first season...I liked it ok, but in retrospect it really was a long setup of how incredible Medaka is and how everyone loves/respects/admires her. Though she goes hard in the paint against the Disciplinary Committee later in, that was pretty interesting.

Yeah, I read all the synopsises and it seems like it gets interesting halfway into the season. I might give it a shot. I'm not expecting big things, but I need a pallet cleanser before I go back to Magi and Yamato 2199.

just watched Samurai Flamenco episode 11:

what the heck!?!?!?! this anime is getting more and more stupid! after beating the villain boss, mutant alien things start an invasion and so Samurai Flamenco joins a colorful hero team that started being formed 10 years ago and it's named after the Flamenco thing his grandfather created!?!? it's so full of plot holes and crazy twists!!!!! I'm really loving it! it doesn't care about technical thingies like having a logic explanation for everything, it is what it is and nothing else, I really like when things are done this way!

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn
