Ushio & Tora. Watching the OVA, then reading the manga which I haven't done yet. Damn, what I'll give to have my hair grow that fast like Ushio.
Then again, you'll lose the hair if you don't have the Beast Spear.
I finally had time (and the effort) to start catching up in Kill la Kill. From yesterday to today, I've watched episodes 4-7, I missed a lot of great stuff! This show is awesome!
Also, about One Piece spoilers, I try to keep away...but when I go to One Piece Wiki I just can't contain myself from reading article after article...like I said, I know the general outline of the sagas (not that specific, but I know about) I know character backstories (Robin, Franky, Brook, Moria, and a few more...maybe) I know tons of different DFs, and Haki, I know about a ton of character deaths (even all the way up to Punk Hazard....) it's really quite annoying.
Also, last night for the heck of it, I watched the first episode of the original Lupin III anime. (Early 70's) It had really good animation, considering. The opening is pretty dull, but it is stuck in my head:
It was rather fun too, involving the thief outwitting an evil organization trying to kill him in a car race. Minus some sexuality, a few small swears, and slightly more heavy violence, it actually reminded me a lot of old American toons. I feel like I might want to check out Miyazaki's Lupin III Castle of Cagliostro soon. Although, it sounds as if the characters were changed quite a bit from the manga to the anime in order to make it more kid-friendly.
Read the three newest chapters of Bleach and am all caught up!
Hashvalt broke through Captain Kyoryaku's (spelt that wrong, hippie captain) barrier, and started to fight him, but was called back to HQ by Juha Bach so he could execute B-29 & Gang Du, as punishment for losing to Soi Fon & Toshiro, respectively.
Meanwhile, Mask De Masculine (Stern Ritter "S") crushed Ikakku, Shuuhei, and another vice-captain (can't remember his name) effortlessly.
They are saved from death however, from two captains that intervened (two of the Vizoreds that were given their positions back after Aizen's defeat). Despite giving De Masculine some injuries however, they too were defeated.
Suddenly Renji & Rukia blast onto the scene, having completed their training with the Zero Division! As De Masculine is about to finish off the two incapacitated captains, Renji intervines! Who will win?
Things are finally getting exciting again.

So the unthinkable has happened, I'm up to date with two anime in one season! And I now remember why I don't tend to do that! Getting cliffhangered at the same time each week sucks, so I figure now's a good time to wait a month or two before continuing. Samurai Flamenco has finished what seems to be an arc, and frankly I couldn't care less about the Golden Time characters right now.
Until then, I started up Hanasaku Iroha. I thought it would be a relaxing anime, but it's actually a little harsh at times. The animation is gorgeous though, the characters are nice and it has insert songs!! And the end theme cuts into the final scene of the episode!! Those little things really influence how much I enjoy a series for some reason, so it's nice that this one checks all the boxes.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Anyone here seen the trailer for that new Godzilla move? It's pretty impressive.
On a different note, I think it'd be cool for One Piece to visit an Old West styled island, I mean Oda did write a Western Manga One-shot in the 90's, when he wrote, WANTED!, so it'd be really neat for a New World Island to be like that.

Yeah, I'd say Iroha is more of a drama than anything else. It certainly feels...more story/lesson oriented than, say, K-On or whatever. At least from what I can recall.

It looks cool! I haven't watched too much of the originals, but this film would probably interest me even if I didn't watch any.
Off topic but it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine when Asian stories are adapted by Hollywood and everyone gets replaced by Caucasian actors. I know it's not as bad for Godzilla and makes more sense in the context of this film than, say, Dragonball Evolution or something, but still it just irks me a little bit. Although perhaps it's not the wisest to discuss that here.

That's all I can think of right now...but I'm sure I saw more than that this year.
Beyond The Boundary (Episode 9): I'm heavily considering dropping this series. While I like the action scenes, the confusing & rushed plot, overuse of tropes, and sexual fetish-defined male characters are especially hampering my viewing experience. And considering that I've read the synopsis for the next episode (and found it to be completely stupid), I can't think of many reasons to continue this series. You had a good first episode, Beyond The Boundary, but it looks like that was where the quality ended.
Kyousougiga (Episode 8): If Kyousougiga spent about an episode's length explaining whatever the 'Shrine' is and explaining what happened in episode 6 and 7, I would be absolutely fine with this series and consider it to be really good. As it stands, I feel that this Shrine organization and episode 6 + 7 leave too many questions. I'll admit that my cultural illiteracy may be a part in why I don't understand those two things, but I still don't agree with how they're presented in the show.
Outbreak Company (Episode 8): Huh, the show director must have been reading my comments. While this episode does bring up a serious issue for comedic purposes, it also at least comments on that issue in a serious way. Also... [minor spoiler below]
I absolutely love how the background music from the video game provides the background music in the conclusion of the issue. It was a great glimpse of superb direction in a series I expected to have none.
So yeah, I'm happy about episode 8. I'm hoping the series will continue this small change.
Samurai Flamenco (Episode 9): After the somewhat generic episode 8 that hinted that more was going on in the background. this episode delivers. While it's not subtle in any way, I love the commentary about Samurai Flamenco's current position. Great to see that the directors/writers of the series aren't just turning this into a generic show after the extremely well done first half-dozen episodes.
Log Horizon (Episode 10): Man, Shiroe is a crafty devil, and I like it. Moving on, I'm actually super-impressed with this series as to how it manages to balance serious drama with humor. It's definitely done it better than any other anime I've seen and it gives the series great medium that makes everyone happy. Also, the humor is pretty great too, making it all the better.
Kill la Kill (Episode 11): OH MAN, OH MAN, OH MAN!!! IT'S GETTING SUPER-GOOD AND I'M PUMPED!!!
And I recently watched some more stuff from the past;
Bakemonogatari (Episode 5): I'll admit, I'm starting to like this show. However, the extremely pointless and questionable sexualization is really preventing me from saying that it's more than just simply "Good".
RWBY (Completed): Yeah, I know, this isn't an "Anime" but just let me BS about it. I dropped this web series after episode 7 simply because the interesting parts (the fight scenes) were almost nowhere to be found amongst the other nonsense that I never cared about. And unfortunately for me, there was literally a huge fight scene the next episode. So yeah, that helped me get back into the series. I marathoned the rest of the show immediately after episode 8 and this is my opinion of RWBY on a whole;
"...Eh, it was kind-of Okay...ish...."
RWBY is in that weird place where it sits between being a fan work and a professional product, so I'm not entirely sure on how to judge it. However, if I were to judge it as a traditional anime series with shortened episode lengths, I would say that I'm overall disappointed. While the fight scenes are nice, there's too much other cliche high school-esque drama that I simply can't care about. While the series does have attempts to inject setting-related issues into the story, they're either boring or don't have any pay-off as of yet. So yeah, comparing RWBY to other anime makes RWBY look like the lesser product. But at the end of the day, I feel somewhat bad for slagging off Monty Oum's personal project. It seems pretty clear that Monty Oum wanted to do this and it would be pretty difficult to say that he was forced into it. (The man works for Rooster Teeth, that website ain't going down anytime soon.) So yeah, from a professional viewpoint RWBY is underwhelming, but at the same time I can't really by hyper-critical the show because it's a passion project.
Rideback (Episode 3): So someone put arms onto motorbikes and called them ridebacks. They're apparently popular in the year 2020 and there are competitions revolving around these machines. A ballerina who broke her ankle and can't...um, 'Ballerina' anymore becomes immensely interested in these ridebacks and shows off amazing skills while riding one. You know what I'm stuck on?
RIDEBACKS ARE MOTORBIKES THAT HAVE ARMS!!!
Seriously, who did that? Why did they think it was a good idea? Why did it catch on? How it is better than just a motorbike that can transform into a "Wheels-As-Feet" configuration? How are the arms controlled? Why do ridebacks need an auto-balancing system if they're based on motorbikes? And again, why did someone put arms onto a motorbike? There are so many questions!
Otherwise, I'm enjoying the series. The animation is gorgeous (it's animated by Madhouse), the characters are likeable if they are archetypes, and there is some nice political issues brewing in the background.

Summer Wars - Wow! This was an absolutely amazing, amazing experience. A great mixture of two distinctly different styles that complemented their worlds perfectly, with a heartfelt & uplifting narrative, that had plenty of action packed & tense moments as well. What a ride!
The one thing that irked me a bit, was that they had the U.S. military unleash the A.I. (rolls eyes). I mean, I know no country is perfect, and it was mentioned that the outcome wasn't intentional, but it's still the kind of thing that rubs me the wrong way (again, I know no country is perfect, but puting the safety of lives at risk for the sake of some sort of test is something we're not exactly known for. Repressive governments like China, North Korea, & Iran, sure, but not us, at least not to this extent, and it hurts the believability of the story ever so slightly, IMO). /End Rant
Probably making a bigger deal out of that than I should, and don't get me wrong, this is still one of the absolutely most enjoyable anime films I've seen, and I undoubtedly recommend it.
Well, time to wait for InuYasha!
