@CanisWolfred only the last part alone will cost $200!?!?!?!?!?!(even if it includes the others that's too much!!!)

They never said the price for the last one, but yes, even if it cost the same as the rest, it would still cost well over $200 just for all 6 DVDs, and Blu-Ray of course cost way more.

not that bad but still bad. they found a way to be more overpriced than Videogames are in Brazil...

At least a video game would be a sound investment. Nobody wants singles, and they lose their value very quickly. Most will hold out for the inevitable Boxset...which will probably still cost a lot...

Oops, forgot to mention: They've been using a Japanese Adult (as in the films) cosplay model to advertise their Star Blazer 2199 releases. Because naturally associating your productions with a pornstar makes everything better, right? Right???

I really can't imagine an anime club voluntarily deciding to watch School Days D:

Besides the shock value, that series doesn't have too much going for it. Not only did the ending make me sick, a lot of the treatment the characters went through in the earlier episodes were pretty despicable as well.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

you're crazy, if I knew that would happen in the end I wouldn't have watched that thing. it made me feel uneasy for a week...

Well....sounds like Romance Dawn for the 3DS was a big disappointment...that's a huge shame.

BTW, I started Space Brothers, just to try it. I was heavily moved by just the first episode, and it wasn't even really trying. I guess it's mostly because I can easily relate to the Main character on a waaay too deep to be a coincidence level, but still, I have a very good feeling I'll be in for one helluva show...once I finally decide to spend more with it. Until then, I'll be watching more Yamato 2199.

Toonami Saturday night!

Akira - This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen it, and it still manages to grip me just like the first time. That's not to say it's without it's problems, because it can be creepy at times (Tetsuo's transformation was particularly ugly as sin) & it definitely goes into WTF territory with it's ending, but despite that, the immaculate detail & awe inspiring action simply make it a really fun watch (and hey, I actually kinda like trying to figure out what the meaning behind the ending is).

Also, how does everyone feel about those odd music videos they've occasionally been playing? Personally, I find them to be out of place here, and weird as all get out.

They're also doing a promotion where they're giving away Toonami t-shirts. Just get on Toonami.com for more info.

Well, time to wait for InuYasha!

Can't wait for the next couple of weeks, as I haven't yet seen either Summer Wars or Trigun: Badlands Rumble.

I was seriously interested in that show, the premise sounds right up my alley. The only thing stopping me is that I've heard people say it stagnates after the first few dozen episodes. I generally prefer shows with a firm, satisfying ending, so maybe I'll wait it out to see where it goes first.

I have heard nothing but good things from people who watch this show. It slows down once they decided to make it run as long as the manga, but otherwise, it still seems to strike a lot of good cords according to the 8 or so people I know.

Just saw Akira for the first time. Have to say it was fantastic! The dream part was really creepy, and some of the deaths were pretty gruesome, (like Tetsuo's girlfriend) but I think that's part of the reason I liked it so much! I can see why it's considered such a classic nowadays. And the animation was amazing, especially for an anime (in 1988 no less.)

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Some of the differences between the manga and anime of One Piece I've found are quite interesting.
For example, in the Anime version of the Baratie Arc (from the East Blue Saga) Sanji and Zeff were stranded for 47 days, Zeff's leg was cut off to escape debris, the ship that passes the rock the first time sees them, and a few other small things. In the manga, they were stranded for 85 days, Zeff at his own leg, the ship passed once and left them, before coming again much later, and there was an additional scene where Sanji picks up smoking after the event claiming to "be a man now."

There are a bunch of changes like this in the East Blue Arc, and a few in Alabasta. It's kinda interesting, I think.

@Rocko52, yeah, there are many different reasons why material may be altered between manga & anime, with censorship being a big one (especially depending on what time slot the show airs on in Japan).

I've noticed some differences between the manga & anime versions of Bleach (usually the anime making certain events less gruesome), and InuYasha in particular had a lot of it's shocking content altered or removed from the anime, due to airing during the "family hour".

One of the reasons anime have filler, is to avoid going on hiatus. Of course, fearing that their replacement show will proove more popular, moving them into the "family hour" upon their return, resulting in more censorship.

Watching Maburaho. I haven't seen this show in a long time, I remember learning about it On Demand.

Apparently that's on Crunchyroll. Has been for years. I have checked Crunchyroll's complete catalogue a bazillion times...I don't remember ever seeing it among them.

I'm halfway through Space Battleship Yamato 2199, and I may have to take a break. It's been getting really episodic since episode 7, and it feels like the main story has been progressing at a snail's pace. Sure, there's plenty of character development and backstory during these episodes, but it's really getting frustrating because the Gamilas are the most interesting parts of the series, and we barely get to see what they're up to in little tidbits per episode recently. Perhaps I should try a more focused show? I guess we'll see what I'm interested in tomorrow...

The thing that made me stop watching anime in Crunchyroll are the damn ads! Do they still have them? After Maburaho, I'm probably going to watch Eureka Seven next.

Yes. Even free players on the internet have ads last I checked, though. They're kind of necessary for survival when you're selling something for free...

That said, Adblock. If you can't stand ads and don't have it yet...WHY?!

Just wondering...how exactly does DBZ stretch fights out for so long? I've never watched the show, but I looked up some famous fights from DBZ for kicks, like Goku vs Frieza or Goku vs Vegeta. and theyre like 3-4 hours! How do they do that, and more importantly, who would want to watch a fight that's 10 episodes long? How do they stretch a fight between two individuals so thin?
