Topic: Anime & Manga (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

I HATE this kind of mind set.

Don't get me wrong, I know everything is pre-determined, but that's not the point.

Just like a stage play, circus, or musician, they're performers putting on a show, and yes, although the events are scripted, the "actors", if you will, have to be highly athletic, and have years of training, in order to put on that show safely (I'm fairly certain none of us here could even be close to doing it).

If someone refuses to watch pro-wrestling because it's "fake", they're missing the point entirely (I personally don't watch it nearly as much as I did when I was younger, though)

A movie and fake sport that is hilarious to watch because it's so obviously fake are too completely different things.

It's not just the fakeness, but the fact that I see nothing entertaining about guys in underwear roaring at each other and beating the crap out of each other.

Pokemon the Origin was awesome.

Can anyone recommend me any good marital arts anime? The only ones, I know are Hokuto no Ken, Shadow Skill, and Baki the Grappler.

@Rocko52 well since you sayd your not a fan of any sport i guess no matter i sayd wont change your mind. Puroresu is pretty entertaining do your gonna miss out

Tokyopop actually released some Puro shows (back when it was in business) and market them as "live action anime" The bridge between both mediums is a lot closer than you think.

I started Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (manga) a while ago... I like it. Its not bad but man... there are so many characters that I really don't care about but they serve a role so I'm prolly gonna keep seeing these characters over and over.... I'm also gonna read Bakuman!

@Blastoise-san I tryed to read Nura but i found it boring. I think it was just the setting and the battles were just bad. They felt like a storyboard.

@ELI-ASH LOL Thats ironically how I felt the first time I tried Nura. I thought it was boring and silly. Some time passed and I tried it again... and now I like Nura. It gets MUCH better as the volumes go on. Trust me.

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi! (although I'd recommend the manga 10X more).

Although it's much more about swordplay & weapon skills, I'd also recommend Rurouni Kenshin.

Manga or anime version is fine. Also, I watch and read Rurouni Kenshin.

@Blastoise-san Only started reading it when Shonen Jump Alpha first launched. So I only read the second to last arc i think. Wasn't surprised when it ended. Im guessing it dropped way too low in the popularity polls.

U should definetly read Karate Shikoushi Kohinata Minoru its one of the best martial arts manga ive read also its not about brawling but its about the sports so it might not be every ones likingbut u should give it a try.
And Kurogane is also one good martial arts manga this is about kendo so give it a try.

@Blastois-san Bakuman will change ur live and ur thoughts about manga its one every manga fan should have read.

I don't really watch wrestling at all, but I can't understand why people would complain that it's fake. If it were real, it would be actual people beating each other up with painful, often life threatening techniques. Judging by the popularity of wrestling, if it were real (or if 100% of people watching it believed it were real), humanity as a whole would look a lot more sadistic. Wrestling's staged the same way that escapist magic is staged. Nobody watching it actually wants people to get hurt, but the spectacle of danger is exhilarating.

Anyway, back to anime- @ShadowFox254 I recommend the manga Holyland, which is about martial arts in a street fighting context. There's a realistic amount of blood and swearing and whatnot (which can make it hard to read at times because it's not over the top and desensitising) but the fights are well designed and satisfying.

Oh my god, Daisuki.net is simulcasting Kill la Kill without a waiting period/pay-wall.

guess im back again i saw you guys mention watamote been watching that but i do agree with you guys kinda a weird/creepy anime for me but it has its funny side to it mostly a meh anime but oh well anyway i saw someone a few pages back ask for romantic anime you still need some cuz i seen some i can make a short list
