Well...you're really missing out lol. Toy Story still holds up very well, but it's the most dated Pixar film, even though Pixar films age extremely well considering.

Maybe, but there's plenty of entertainment out there that'll satisfy me. Same reason why I gave up on ragging on people who refuse to watch old anime. Sure, it's their loss, but if they're happy without it, it's no big deal.

Up, Toy Story 3, Wall-E, and Ratatouille are amazing, if you haven't even tried them, I'd recommend it if you can.

And if it helps, I do intend to watch some old anime, like Astro Boy, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Space Battleship Yamato, Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Mobile Suit Gundam, The Wonderful World of Puss 'n Boots, and some others.

On a similar note I recall you saying you don't read manga, there is some great work out there not adapted into anime.

I read manga from time to time, I just vastly prefer anime. I recently posted about Vinland Saga, which you said sounded cool...did you forget that already?

BTW, I recall you saying you watched some Mazinger Z once. I recommend reading the manga of that. It's shorter and less repetitive than a 92-episode anime where basically the same things happen over and over again, and much more interesting. Or better yet, check out Mazinkaiser. It's like abridged version of Mazinger Z, but even cooler.

Like @Rocko52 said, there are a ton of great manga that never got made into anime my Favorite romance is a manga only, it was real realistic compared to others of the same type.

As for the Captain Harlock remake, they covered it on this week's Imagine-Nation, and the director made it clear that it's going to be aimed at a western audience.

He said that his vision was to turn it into a Hollywood style blockbuster experience.

Maybe I should check out the original at some point, to see how the two will compare.

I finished up chapter 350 of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi!

SPOILERS

The Renka vs Rachael & Kensei vs Diego battles get underway (with the series' most bold fanservice yet, in regards to Renka vs Rachael), while Miu & Kenichi deal with the guards & try to disarm the bomb. Renka & Kensei come out victorious, and with the surprise arrival of the elder, the bomb is dealt with as well. Diego is taken away by the authorities & imprisoned, while Rachael is taken back by Yami.

Back at school, Chikage (the girl I mentioned earlier) is ordered to fight Kenichi, but thanks to the softening of her heart, she disregards the fight in favor of a classmate's birthday party.

Next up is Ethan Castor, the brother of Rachael! He actually doesn't wish to fight Kenichi, and asks him to simply drop out of the world of martial arts, but Kenichi refuses, because of the many promises he has to uphold.

Gearing up for the match, Kenichi undergoes training with the elder, and Ethan undertakes dangerous missions for Yami.

During the match, Chikage is ordered to watch, so the friendship she has started to form will be stomped out after Kenichi's defeat, but after a tough battle, Kenichi manages to come out on top of Ethan, but it's not over yet...

Yami was actually using the defeated Rachael as incentive for Ethan to fight harder, as his defeat would result in her death. Luckily, Kenichi's masters break into the facility where she was being held, and rescues her.

Hey, which version of Astro Boy should I watch? 60's, 80's, or 2004 version?

My immediate suggestion is to play the criminally under appreciated GBA game. Not sure if that counts as anything, but screw it, it's great. Even from a story perspective, it's really good, has tons of characters from Tezuka's works and perhaps one of my favorite plot twists in any game.

I know of that game as well, and mean to play it, but I also want to watch an anime since that's the main part of the franchise, well, besides the manga. Even though I like manga a lot, I do prefer animation to comics.

Would you guys consider visual novels a form of manga? I want to see your opinions.

@WiiWareWave the one(literally one) I've read so far barely had images and the text did all the explaining that would normally be simply shown so I think it would be close to saying western "teen" books are a form american comics(but not as offensive there are MANY horrible "teen" books and they get the most attention from everyone the light novels have just the attention part reversed)

I've only watched the 60's version and the 2003 version. The 2003 version gets a lot of flak, but I liked it a lot, personally. Just make sure you watch an uncut subbed version of it. The 60's version seems to get a lot of love from hardcore fans, but personally I thought it was unwatchable - the animation is just so stiff and full of errors, that I can't bear to watch more than a few scenes. This seems to be a common opinion, even amongst retro anime fans I know. Someday I'll check out the 80's version.

No, just as I don't consider a picture book a comic book. Most visual novels don't really have action-by-action pictures, just stock pictures and sounds. They still use words to illustrate much of what goes on in the scene.
