Been watching this thread for recommendations, and (unless it was mentioned way back), nobody has mentioned The World God Only Knows. Most gamers should absolutely love it. It's basically a romantic comedy (no bad cliches, don't worry), with a gaming (mostly dating sims) obsessed nerd as the protagonist.
Very minor spoilers There's even an episode where the main character tries to beat a game so buggy nobody else has ever finished it. I've never had more laughs off of an anime episode before or since very minor spoilers
Note: Not anything worse than alot of PG-13 movies, but probably for those over the age of 15.
I'm not terribly worried at all about content considering some of the more violent/disturbing/sexual things I've scene in the anime's I've watched. End of Evangelion might have been one of the biggest in terms of disturbing, the image of half of the head giant, nude, Rei corpse, bloodily sliding off the other half of her face in the background of a Post Third Impact earth really stuck with me in a gruesome way, not mentioning the other scenes. Attack on Titan also had some fairly disturbing moments, while most of the shows I watch are generally just overall violent.
Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Reading: The Golden Compass
BTW, looking for something to fill the void when I finish Polar Bear's Cafe (which I highly recommend), was thinking of SKET Dance or Lucky Star. Looking for something lightish, probably slice of life in there too, with a good laugh here or there.
Gonna watch that then. Thanks for the recommendation!
Another one I haven't seen on this thread, Space Brothers. It has something for everyone, a little bit of action, little big of adventure, little bit of romance (not much), a lot of drama, a lot of suspense, and heaping helpings of all kinds of emotions. Easy to recommend to anyone (13+)
Well, I just finished Vampire Knight Guilty. Aside from some off pacing near the end (it gets better again though, and I think it partly was from too much binge watching lol.), the Vampire Knight series is perfection. I highly reccomend you go watch it right now. Even the opening and and end credits are perfect becaue they aer custom for the show and don't use scenes from it. Vampire Knight is definietly my favorite anime and TV show.
Thanks for the reccomendations guys, I will start watching Angel Beats today. Special thanks go to @CanisWolfred for the long list that went over almost all of the animes I mentioned too. Oh, and no, I haven't seen Ouran Host Club.
Gonna watch that then. Thanks for the recommendation!

I would watch Space Brothers if it had ended before the 54 episode mark. I have extreme difficulty watching shows beyond that point...Even Brotherhood was a challenge...
Hey, new to the thread here.
I neglected anime for more than a year and now I'm getting back into it.
Anyways, 2 years ago I read the Evangelion manga and a few days ago I started watching the anime. I loved everything up until the ending. I'm just going to pretend those endings don't exist.
Not sure if anyone watched Haibane Renmei? It's a sweet story for the most part. I'd love to see more anime like this, minimalist but still beautiful.
Maybe I'll try Angel Beats, I watched the first and last episode and it seemed decent. I'm looking for good "tragedies" or at least anime that made people cry.
Say what now?

I'm not really active here anymore. So it goes.
Well the first episode of FMA B, while it had good animation, I've started to like the opening, and some of it was fun, I was rather unimpressed overall.

The best tragedy anime I can think of, at least in the traditional sense (I'm talking Shakespeare traditional, here,) would without a doubt be Madoka Magica. It's a dark dissection of magical girl anime, and it is without a doubt one of the best animes I've ever seen.
Angel Beats is a good show that gets better (and it will make you tear up) but you'll likely have the same complaint everyone has with it, that being that it's too short. The content needed some spreading out to make it better paced.
As for AnoHana... you might like it. It has a fantastic premise, but it's execution isn't liked by everyone. Personally, I didn't like it all that much. There's a point when a show tries to get too melodramatic, and AnoHana goes waaaaaay past that point. It just feels forced. Plus, I didn't really like the characters. Then there's how the writers seem to forget to address some obvious things. The most obvious thing being that Menma is able to manipulate physical objects, yet no one takes notice of it, and Jintan doesn't ever point it out either, which makes him look pretty dumb. It makes all the arguing over whether Menma is really back seem really stupid to the viewer if Jintan would just address the fact that blankets are floating or that food is magically disappearing.
Frankly, if you want melodrama, go with Clannad.
@Rocko52 Quick question: have you seen the original FMA anime?
@moomoo
Yes I have, and it is one of my top 5 animes.
Yeah, it's in my top 5 as well. I personally liked it more than Brotherhood. I was just asking because the first 13 episodes of Brotherhood go by crazy fast. Not exactly a good introduction.
Nonetheless, I hope you like it. It's a really good show.
Best thread ever

Actually...you're the first one I've met who had any problem with AnoHana besides "it's sad". But then again, you're also the first person I've met who had any problem with Gurren Lagann, so I guess you got a lot of firsts going for ya.
It does seem set up for fans rather than newcomers.
and really thats ok, unless you were a newcomer
When i started watching it i thought it was going by really fast at first and i thought to myself that one really wouldnt understand as much if they didn't first see the original.Good i did though
