I wouldn't call it a club, just a group.

I guess anime fans in my school were lucky, since there were a couple of "Jocks" (or whatever term you'd like to use) who were anime fans.

Unfortunately we're well past the late 90's early 2000's anime boom when it was popular. Now it's niche again.
When I try to bring up anime with people I haven't tried before I generally get an "eww anime" "anime's weird" "@#$%anime" or some other negative response.

The series ending. End of Evangelion is generally regarded as a more canon (ish) ending. The series ending, on the other hand, _{removed for possible spoilers, for the few people who haven't watched Evangelion}. Which is why it's so fun to link out of context

The reason I started Evangelion was thanks to having it been on my "To watch" list for a while, read about it, no about its legacy, read several reviews last night that were spoiler free, and that full opening was just...so epic. I literally played it over and over for 4-6 times last night.

Whenever I'm done with Evangelion and/or Fruits Basket, I'm planning on doing Code Geass, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, or Cowboy Bebop.

Those three are all going to be right up your alley, imo. And yeah, the Evangelion opening is a classic!

100% of my school loves anime(homeschoold, so one person ). None of my friends really like anime that much so I don't bring it up, well friends that live arounnd where I live, It doesn't bother me though. The girl I like is a big okatu though, her big brother and his wife (my sister) also love anime. I got into anime with studio ghibli and then with what my sister gave me to watch.

Ghibli is the gateway drug

A lot of my friends who dislike anime will still watch Ghibli and consider it amazing.

I'm ashamed to say I've only ever watched one of Ghibli's films.

Well I've watched up to episode 9 of Okami-san now and 9 was the mandatory swimsuit episode, apparently. It wasn't that bad though. Almost done with the series. After this I'm planning to watch The Devil is a Part Timer and then maybe finally Shakugan No Shana lll.

Really? From my experience (not just school), Nintendo is much more mainstream than anime. (At least their bigger franchises...)
