one where the guy gets burned and his face is restored to look like his crush, and now he has to pass off as her twin sister...It was humorous.
what?
that's not humorous, that's the beginning of a horror story, unless this is some dark humor or something
Not the plot but the guy's reactions through out his stay at his crush's house. From what I read it's a pretty normal comedy. Only a few weird moments.
@CanisWolfred
Seeing as you're a manga buff, I'm betting you've seen Evangelion before.
Anime, I don't read Manga. And everyone and their mother has seen Evangelion. I'm pretty sure it's the third most popular anime on this side of the Pacific, after Bleach and DBZ. I've seen plenty of people who don't actually watch anime reference it.
@CanisWolfred
Slip of the tongue, meant anime.
BTW in my school almost no-one knows this, or many animes I talk about, just a few of my friends in all 4 grades, other than that no one, and most have a negative response to me mentioning anime. My best friend, and a few others half-jokingly irritate me by referring to my interest in anime as hentai. (They even pronounced it wrong.)

Yeah, that's not uncommon. I haven't the slightest idea why, though. :/ My school had a lot of anime fans, though (and just as many anime haters who considered us all weirdos).
@CanisWolfred
Ya it does get annoying. Whenver I try to mention/recommend an anime, he always interrupts me with some "clever" (not at all) joke that involves phrases such as cartoon porn, nudity, or hentai. It gets quite annoying because he's just trolling. In a study period I was looking at Attack on Titan Wiki, viewing a character profile, and he saw the picture of a character's mug short and called it gay hentai, after a minute of thinking.

Ya. For example, I mentioned The Devil is a Part Timer (Thinking of watching)
and I said it was about the devil being trapped in Tokyo and working at a McDonalds (MgRonalds) and his reaction was: HE should work at a strip because it's anime. Punchline: anime = hentai. Cue recorded laughter.

Man, from what you're saying, it seems as if anime's popularity has really fallen off a cliff since I was in high school.
It had a higher popularity during my first two years in high school, where seeing people wearing Dragon Ball Z, InuYasha, & Pokémon merchandise was quite common, and even during the later years, popularity was still high enough for there to maintain an anime/manga club (there was even one person who had Uehara's hat).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Oh ya, I mean there are a fair few who like it a lot, but they aren't the popular or mainstream kids. (Not that I am)
When I mention it with my non-gaming/anime/cartoon/scifi/comic-book/geeky group, I get reactions like that. My best friend's is probably the most troll-like, but people insult anime, and call it cartoon porn. When I tried to talk about Attack on Titan with another friend, they asked me why I liked cartoon porn...sighs

@Rocko52 Oh that's not uncommon at all. I only know maybe 5 people in my entire school who watch anime and know what it actually is. Most people think of it negatively without so much as having given it a chance and all their arguments and insults are incredibly dumb. You're friend there sounds incredibly unoriginal and immature with his jabs at anime.
@Retro_on_theGo
Yeah, I know they aren't giving it a chance. Then again, my friend doesn't usually give things a chance past his initial judgments. And in his word, he equates anime to pokemon/naruto/hentai. Ya...It's irritating, even when I explain it, he blows it off. He knows by now I don't watch hentai, but he still uses it as a way to troll me.

Since he won't watch videos I send him (he, on the other hand, has trolled me with videos such as MTC (unfortunately stands for Masturbate to Toon Cartoons...ya...) one day I'll force him to watch an anime...and get a legit reaction.

@Rocko52 Back in seventh grade, my languages teacher thought it would be a good idea to show Love Hina to my class of 12 year olds. A couple of my friends from that class still violently refuse to touch anime after that
I have a few friends who are casual anime watchers, but I don't talk about anime much in real life. There's a club at my university, but they do weird stuff like cross-cosplay, so I'm a little wary of joining.
EDIT; it doesn't matter much for me if my friends don't like anime. Each to their own tastes, I guess. For that reason, I'm not entirely sure if forcing your friend to watch anime will work :/
Best of luck anyway, lol
DOUBLE EDIT: I found instructions on how to make Chopper's hat the other day. Man I really wish I knew how to sew. Or had a working sewing machine in my house.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
@Magikarp
There's a group of folks who I talk about all this geeky crap with, unfortunately a large portion are seniors graduating this year, a VERY large portion. One actually told me that I was the future of Otakus at my rather small, private school (600-800 kids) so...dont really know if I'll know to many next year, there's 2 now juniors, 3 sophmores, and 2 freshmen...there were a lot of seniors...

Yeah, I never joined any of the anime clubs, nor mentioned it much (I was more open with my Nintendo fandom, though).
I miss middle school, where Dragon Ball Z & Yu-Gi-Oh! were at the top of their game, in popularity, and where a candidate for student secretary made campaign posters with pictures of Kagome (from InuYasha) for some reason...
No school I have ever gone to has had an anime club. I would have liked that though to meet others with the interest, but like others already said I don't talk about anime much. That's mostly because everyone around me doesn't like it and I don't want to annoy them but still.
I do have an annoying habit of linking the final scene of Evangelion out of context while chatting with friends online though. For Rocko's sake, I won't say what it is, but this will all make sense when you get up to it.
