@Rocko52.
I suggest if someone says they aren't interested in something, to stand down.
I don't think you would like it if you said "I don't wanna watch that anime, as it doesn't interest me."
And someone keeps pressuring you to watch it, over and over and over again.
I'm sorry if I'm sounding very rude. But not every anime, is for everyone.

Just thought I'd mention...it isn't the most popular manga of all time for nothing.

Well thats fricken true! I'll give u that! I respect their determination the people who made this anime even though I hate it. But maybe if they have another side series that I could be interested in I might watch that.

Ya, I know...it just is annoying when someone blows off an anime completely with no real ground at all.

Seriously?

I seriously doubt that ability will work all the time, mind giving a few examples?

See this pic makes One Piece appeal to me even less! If this pic is from One Piece that is? I would Dragon Ball Z season 9 anyday!

Sorry guys it just doesn't appeal to me. It really looks like its representing the pirate era too much with a battle manga twist. I just don't like it. I felt like like Naruto was a knock off of Dragon Ball with kid Goku. So now u can see that I'm really conservative when it comes to anime.

Dude, they actually represent Pirates well enough. It's established that The Straw Hats are considered weird for Pirates, while every other Pirate is shown doing pirate-y things, pillaging, burning towns, naval battles, etc. And It's not the real Pirate Era, it's one in an entirely fictional world. Dragon Ball is a worse offender - It's supposed to be a reinterpretation of a Chinese Myth, yet it poorly represents it in nearly every way possible. Outside of a few things, I would never believe this was Journey to the West. One Piece, at the very least, isn't even pretending to be representing anything other than a Good story set in an entirely fictional world.

And Naruto is not a knock off of Goku. You'd know that if even watched the first episode. He has actual characterization and growth, even within that episode. He's an angsty teenager with who's been ostricized and just wants to be accepted. Goku is happy-go-lucky kid with no problems whatsoever, who just wants to be strong, and protect the people he cares about. Goku is established as a super-strong kid who is practically at the top of his game on day one, while Naruto is established as an underdog who has to work harder than anyone else to achieve his goals. Goku is a genius who learned the Kamehameha just be watching Master Roshie do it once. Naruto could barely pull off the most basic Ninja skills, and has to spend several episodes training to get any of the more advanced techniches down, with the sole exception of the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which he supposedly spent all night trying to do off-screen in order to learn it.

That's just what we get from the first few episodes. How could you possibly call him a Goku clone if you'd actually seen any of it?!

I actually saw the first episode of Naruto (made a deal with a friend that I'd watch the first arc of Naruto if he'd watch the first arc of Bleach) and it was quite good.

At least watch a few episodes of each before you make a judgement, don't go by some "gift" you think you have for some reason.

QFT. And if you don't want to, that's fine. Just say you're not interested, and then move on. But you can't say you hate something you've never tried, especially if your reasons for hating it are based on a gut reaction to a few screen shots and clumsy synopsi.

hey remember that time a new Nintendo game was coming out for the GCN and everyone assumed it was a complete sell-out generic FPS that had nothing to do with a beloved franchise outside of the name?

everyone sure judged that correctly!

just saying

If you have NOT seen episode 377 and do NOT want it spoiled for you. Do NOT watch this.

I did watch one episode in fact and decided that it was a knock off of the Dragon Ball anime with kid Goku. I'm sorry guys thats just how I feel. I believe I watched the one episode with Naruto being trained with some old dude. He was teaching him how to summon monsters by forcing his fist through ground and created a tadpole.

One single episode does not necessarily represent an entire series as a whole.

@theStyleWithin Starting from a random point in a long running series won't always give you a good idea of the series as a whole. You don't have to if you're really not interested but why not try watching it from the first episode. Then you might get a better idea of the series.

Also, I was very reluctant to try out One Piece due to the art style and I remember finding Luffy annoying when I watched it a while back but I gave it another chance and I'm really enjoying it and while I don't like Luffy as much as some of the other characters, I still like him as a character.

I still don't understand how you got the impression that Naruto was like Goku. Because he's being trained by an old man? That's a trope that is centuries old.

Fine I'll try watching at least half of one season from both of those series starting from the beginning. Naruto and One Piece. I can't gaurentee I'll do it next cuz theres others I'm mor interested in right now. But I will try them out someday But here is something interesting though. I find out I liked Bakuman from skipping ahead in the manga then after I decided I liked it. I started reading from the beginning so u see skipping ahead can wrk for some people.

Imo, Naruto does take on some Dragon Ball Z-ish tendencies the further along you get into it. When Naruto establishes that he's pretty powerful, the fights get less strategic and more long winded, and there are more powering up sequences. It still takes itself more seriously than DBZ ever did though. The first season is generally agreed to be high quality, and then the argument starts over whether it gets worse over time or not.

One Piece definitely gets better over time though. I doubt you'd find as much to like by just watching the first season, but it'll grow on you once you get invested into the characters.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
